5 Best Anti Ageing Treatments That Can Help!

Anti-ageing is the process that stops, slows down or retards the ageing process. Our bodies are all the time making new cells since the time we are born. This cell growth continues during infancy, childhood and early adulthood. It is believed that as we grow older, skin generation slows down and it reflects in our appearance. Our skin becomes dull and sags down. This is called ageing. There are two theories about the reason for ageing. As per the damage concept, the accumulation of damage may cause ageing. Ageing may also be caused by internal processes like DNA methylation.
According to Gottschilling, Dillin and Nystrom, ageing is one of the most important risk factors in many human diseases. Of the 1,50, 000 people who die daily, more than two-thirds die because of ageing related factors.

Top Anti-Ageing treatments
Please consult your dermatologist before you opt for one of the following treatments.

  1. CO2 Fractional Laser Therapy: This treatment is a combination of the traditional CO2 laser therapy with the latest laser applications. Our skin has a protein called collagen. This protein is an important substance in the connecting tissue which is responsible for making our skin tight and wrinkle free. The natural ageing process along with long exposure to sun and pollution causes damage to this collagen which leads to the development of wrinkles etc. The Fractional Laser Therapy sends small beams of energy into your skin and puts the production of collagen into fast forward. The main benefit of this therapy is that skin regeneration is faster and there are fewer side effects in minimal recovery time.
  2. Wrinkle-Free Injections: This treatment uses fillers that are injected into the skin to make it look more youthful and natural. This process is also called volumizing. Studies conducted by the University of Michigan have indicated that some of the fillers (based on hyaluronic acid) not only boost up the collagen production but also reduce their breakdown. The main benefit of this treatment is that you do not have to undergo surgery or painful laser treatment.
  3. Antioxidants: These are substances that fight ageing by destroying free radicals in the skin. Free radicals are unstable molecules and come about because of long exposure to the sun and pollution and cause damage to our collagen.
  4. Peptides: These are molecules that trigger the production of collagen. Studies on some peptides have shown that they prevent the facial muscles from developing wrinkles.
  5. Vitamin ADerivatives of Vitamin A, the retinoids, have been proven to be great anti- ageing products. In a study conducted on a group whose average age was 87, retinoids demonstrated a perceptible improvement in skin appearance.

Anti-Aging Treatments

Looking good and looking youthful are two things that go hand in hand for most of us. Accordingly, we are constantly in search of that eternal fountain of youth to keep ourselves looking young for a longer time. Yet, we also need to ensure that this is done without harming one's health.

A wholesome diet that is rich in a number of nutrients as well as good skin care routine can help in fighting the initial signs of aging. While a good beauty regimen definitely helps in prolonging the skin's elasticity and glow, one needs procedures that can help not only in preventing the decline of the skin and good-looks, but also in reversing those changes This comes under the purview of anti-aging measures. Read on to know more about these anti-aging treatments-

  1. Laser Resurfacing: Also known as fractional laser treatment, this method sends laser beams to create tiny holes in the skin, which boosts collagen production in the skin. It is extremely effective in fighting the onset of wrinkles and fine lines. They help in fighting the ravages of the skin due to prolonged sun and pollution exposure, which reduce the collagen or elastic element of the skin. With this procedure, the skin becomes firmer and plumper, thus remaining line free.
  2. Skin Tightening and Lifting: Energy of laser beams, radiofrequency and ultrasound is used to tighten deeper skin collagen which helps to lift the sagging tissues. It is the best alternative to a surgical facelift with no downtime.
  3. Anti-Wrinkle Injections: Their use has now become commonplace and can be done every now and then so as to ensure that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is kept to a minimum. These injections are of two types-
    1. Fillers-. Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane and Emervel are some of the well-known and most favoured fillers trusted by dermatologists globally. The effect of these fillers can last up to twelve months, after which it can be repeated. Fillers basically restore volume loss and also help in boosting the collagen production of the skin.
    2. Botox- This is a protein which takes care of the frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet by smoothening the muscles of the face that cause these lines.
  4. PRP Therapy: Also known as Vampire Facelift, this is the latest anti ageing treatment which remove wrinkles and lifts the face. Plasma rich in platelets is prepared from your own blood and is injected into the skin. Growth and stem cell factors stored in the platelets stimulate collagen, thereby giving you a brighter, tighter and younger looking skin.
  5. Threads: These are used to tighten sagging loose skin giving a firm, lifted look with and improved skin texture. It can also be used to slim the jawline and take care of double chin. In this procedure, absorbable threads are inserted into the skin with the help of an extremely thin needle.
  6. Mesotherapy: This is a procedure by which beneficial substances are infused into the skin to improve skin tone and texture. The different types of substance that are infused are-
    1. Antioxidants: These powerful skin care nutrients eg. vitamin C, botanicals, flavonoids etc destroy free radicals that damage skin and collagen. These free radicals come from sun exposure, pollution, poor diet, stress, smoking, pesticides, chemicals, etc.
    2. Peptides: They are proteins that help in enhanced collagen production so as to set the anti-aging process in motion successfully.
  7. Chemical Peels: They help to maintain the complexion, glow and firmness of the skin. It is used to fight the early signs of skin aging. In this procedure, gentle exfoliating solutions are applied on the skin which loosens and removes the dead cells. The desired results are obtained after a series of peels in a short time.
  8. Microdermabrasion: It is mechanical exfoliation of skin by either very fine crystals, diamond tipped probes, high pressure water jet or pressurized air. This reveals a smooth, glowing and fresher skin instantly. Regular such sessions help to maintain the youthfulness of skin. With all these advanced, effective and safe treatments at hand, looking young and beautiful forever is not impossible now! If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

How Wine Is a Stunningly Good Anti- Aging Weapon

How Wine Is a Stunningly Good Anti- Aging Weapon

Red wine is a ladies' drink; if you are averse to alcohol, especially to its usual, piquant taste, you must have been suggested with the lightness of red wine by officious onlookers. That surely isn't a remote possibility when you are a lady and of age. Cautious introspection backed with years of medical or scientific research tells millions how wine, when consumed in moderation, helps improve a woman's physical health: the facet of mental health can be taken for granted as inebriation of most kinds results in mood elevation. It is, therefore, a ladies drink indeed.

While being perturbed about the health of your skin, the sagging cheek muscles, a double chin or wrinkles that start showing once women are in their thirties, you must have rarely conjured the image of a vineyard to relax and repair. A vineyard can actually be your key source to youthful skin. Take a look at the following points to believe the same:

  1.  Red wine can act as an anti-aging intervention in case of both men and women. A glass of wine every day can keep a woman's skin young and taut while two glasses of the same drink can let a man enjoy the look of a young adult.
  2. Free radicals are active causes of aging. Red wine is rich in antioxidants and thus can do away with such radicals. Many use grapes and grape juice for a glowing skin. Grape juice is way less effective as compared to wine as the latter contains the seed and skin of the fruit during fermentation. The fruit as a whole has polyphenols such as resveratrol that can successfully counter free radicals.
  3. If you are a health freak and insist on going by a Mediterranean diet, wine is part of your regular diet. You will experience the benefits in a few weeks' time.
  4. When consumed in a measured and controlled manner, red wine can reduce the chance of contracting breast cancer. Wine sharpens your mind while you age; your cognitive faculties, therefore, do not rust.
  5. Red wine can make your skin glow from within, unlike any other wine, as white wines have only a little amount of antioxidants.
  6. Your skin feels young and rejuvenated on drinking red wine as the drink aids arterial functions of the body. Thus proper blood circulation is ensured. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

Common Skin Problems That Occur From Dry Skin

Common Skin Problems That Occur From Dry Skin

A well moisturized and hydrated skin is a thumb rule for a healthy skin. Dry and flaky skin is not only discomforting and unpleasant to look but is also prone to many skin problems. Dry skin or xerosis dermatitis is more common among elderly. Dry skin can cause the skin to crack making it susceptible to infections. Constant scratching of dry skin due to itching is further harmful and can cause thickening and darkening of the skin. Extreme temperature especially winter with cold, dry and chilly winds can be harsh on the skin and disturb its pH level, thus causing skin problems.

Apart from external factors, internal factors such as hypothyroidism, psoriasis and type 2 diabetes can also cause dry skin.

One of the most common skin problems from dry skin is Eczema. Eczema, generally acquired in childhood is an inflammatory reaction of the skin causing the skin to become red and itchy followed by crusting and scaling. Treatment of eczema is usually a combination of creams and drugs. However, eczema does not go away that easily and its relapse rate remains quite high.

Exposure to sun for long hours can also lead to drying of the skin. Apart from this use of harsh soaps and chemical based products or prolonged use of cosmetics on the skin can inhibit the ability of skin to retain moisture.

Dry skin tends to age faster as it is prone to wrinkles. A wrinkled skin loses its charm and elasticity. The whole concept of anti ageing revolves around keeping the sun hydrated and moisturized.

Many skin problems can be prevented only by following a good skin care routine. Others may require a long-term medical treatment. Let’s look at some simple and useful ways to prevent and manage dry skin:

  1. Water: Water is not only a natural cleanser for the skin but helps in maintaining an optimum moisture level of the skin. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day.

  2. Steam baths: A warm water bath or a steam bath can help relieve skin of dryness.

  3. Oiling of the skin: People with dry skin benefit more from oiling than the use of regular moisturizers. Oiling creates a protective layer on the skin preventing it from drying for longer hours. Use of almond, olive or coconut oil is effective is treating dry skin problems.

  4. Prolonged use of room heaters: Heaters snatch moisture from the surrounding environment including your skin leaving it dull and dry. Thus sitting in heated rooms for long can dehydrate skin and must be avoided as far as possible.

  5. Water-rich fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables, especially, water-rich like watermelon, bottle gourd etc. can help replenish moisture. Eat plenty of those to fight dryness. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist and ask a free question.

Tips to Select the Best Anti Aging Skin Care Products

Tips to Select the Best Anti Aging Skin Care Products

Some women look atleast a decade younger than the age mentioned on their passports. For most of these women this is the result of anti-aging creams and serums. There are dozens of anti-aging products available today. The tough part is finding the right product for you.

Here are a few tips to help you make the right choice:

  1. Start with the Basics: Dehydrated skin and sun exposure are the primary triggers for wrinkles, sun spots and fine lines. To prevent this, start by picking a good sunscreen. When picking your sunscreen look for one that offers an SPF of 30 or more, water resistance and protection against both UVA and UVB rays. If you have sensitive skin, avoid sunscreens with fragrances, harsh chemicals, alcohol and preservatives.
  2. Understand your Primary Concern: No one product can address all signs of aging. At the same time, using multiple products can do more harm than good. Infact, it can make you look older. Hence, it is important to take an honest look at the mirror and identify your main concerns. Pick a single anti-aging product that addresses this issue.
  3. Pick a Retinoid Based Cream: Retinoids are the best way to fight signs of aging like fine lines, larger pores and dark spots. Choose between a retinol cream and serum depending on your skin. While creams are betters suited for dry skin, a serum works well to treat clogged pores and acne. Eliminate products that have artificial preserves or paraben.
  4. Read the Label: Take a close look at the label and pick a product that contains anti-oxidants or is hypoallergenic. Also look for vitamins and polypeptides. This can nourish your skin and keep it elastic for longer. Pick products that have the words 'non-comedogenic' on the label. Lastly, look for the consumer hotline number on the product.
  5. Patch Test: It is impossible to know how a product will react with your skin before using it. Anti-aging products are intended for use on the face but before using it on your face, you must first do a patch test. A patch test involves applying the product on a small patch of skin on the forearm and leaving it for 24 hours. If you do not notice any adverse reaction, only then use it on your face.
  6. Ask the Dermatologist: Self diagnosis is often not the best step to take. When it comes to skincare, it is always a good idea to consult a dermatologist before using a new product. Find a professional you trust and share your concerns with them so that they can advise you on the product that is most suited to you.

Organic produce in the diet is helpful in providing the body with the nutrients it needs to create glutathione. Sulfur-rich vegetables such as garlic, onions, parsley and cruciferous vegetables are particularly helpful in addition to avocados, squash and tomatoes. Nondenatured, native whey protein contains the highest levels of the full range of naturally-occurring glutathione precursors: covalent bonded cysteine, lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, and active peptides.Fresh, raw milk and raw eggs promote glutathione production.

Dear lybrate-user, You do not need to start any anti aging treatment right now, However you can start taking care of your skin at home by regular cleansing toning and moisturizing. Wash your face daily before going to sleep and use a good night cream. Most important is to start using a good sun screen of SPF 30 and apply it every day before leaving the house. Regards.

Detail on Anti Aging Treatment

Hello, everyone, I m Dr. Anupriya Goel from Berkowitz hair and skin clinic and today I m going to talk about various anti-aging treatments including botulinum toxin, fillers and thread lift.

To start with Botulinum toxin, it is a protein complex which is derived from clostridium botulinum bacterium and it is used to treat certain muscular conditions and aesthetically remove wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscle. The various indications that it can be used to treat are our horizontal frontal lines for crow s feet, frown lines, bunny lines and dimpled chin. Now how this procedure is done is by applying a local anesthetic cream on the concerned areas and injecting the toxin directly into the neuro muscular tissue .the result of this starts coming within 24 to 72 hours and the peak result is seen within 7 to 14 days. Now the main advantage of this procedure is that by using the toxin we not only remove the wrinkles but we also prevent the formation of permanent lines on the face. Now when this procedure is done in conjunction with other procedures like fillers and thread lifts it even gives better results.

What exactly are Fillers, these are high percentage hyaluronic acid materials which are used for volume restoration and phase rejuvenation. As we age there is hypertrophy of the fat, the muscle and the bone due to which there is a loss of volume of the face, by using fillers we can correct that. Now the ways indications for which fillers can be used are a loss of volume under the eyes or Tiaras for lip augmentation for nasolabial folds and for marionette lines. They can also be used for augmenting your cheek and chiseling your jaw line.

Now when this procedure is done along with another procedure called Thread lift which is a relatively new procedure it gives even better results. It is a very well known fact that the ideal female facial shape is an ovoid shape or an inverted egg shape with fullness in the upper half of the face and narrowness in the lower half of the face that is chiseling of the jaw line towards the chin. This can be accentuated by using the procedure called thread lift now there are a number of threads which are available which includes mono threads, lock threads, mono screw threads, and double school trips they act by collagen regeneration and remodeling. They are made up of a material known as poly dioxin on which one goes inside the skin it rejuvenates the skin and lifts the skin by collagen regeneration and remodeling. Now how this procedure is done is that we apply a local anesthetic cream locally and we insert the needles which have these threads on it. We put these needles inside and take the mount and the thread remains inside. In that area there is tightening and sagging is lifted by collagen regeneration so whether we do these procedures alone or we do in conjunction with each other they bring excellent results and they are associated with minimal side effects.
