The grade of the tear is important. Usually after ankle sprains, the ligament reduces its capacity to understand the joint sense meaning the proprioception of the joint. So recurrent sprains are possible. If you have had a previous injury on the same ankle you need to be more careful.
A proper evaluation from a physiotherapist can help you reduce the pain, swelling and improve the joint sense and avoid recurrences.
