It is not dangerous to take vaccine after an interval of atleast 4 weeks from previous course.
Usually you will get minor side effects like redness, pain at site and fever and myalgia only which resolves in 2 -3 days
do contact me for further diagnosis and treatment or if you still have some doubts you want to clear.

I would like to see a picture of the site of the bite and how long is the problem. It is the body's self response called inflammation which causes swelling at the site of injury. Also in long term cases there could be a growth of bacteria and infection causing swelling. There are medications which could help you reduce swelling. Consult me so that I could prescribe you.

Full vaccination under standard precautions immunity normally lasts for 3-5 years. But in case of re exposure with a confirmed rabies dog bite or street dog causing injury that is extensive and nearer the head or face or a street dog always consult a doctor or a surgeon that time. Consider 2 dose booster during that period beyond one year from now. It is better to be extra safe.

Human rabies immune globulin is administered only once at the begening of anti rabies prophylaxis. To previously unvaccinated persons.
This will provide immediate antibodies until the body can respond to the vaccine by active producing antibodies of its own.
If the rabies vaccine is given immediately and appropriately to someone who was bitten by a rabid animal. It is 100 % eefective.

Hi lybrate-user,
if your pet has just licked your leg and skin is intact you need to wash that area thoroughly under running water for 15 min and apply antiseptic.
If their is any bite mark present you need to wash that area and get vaccinated.
N consult a veterinarian for your pets vaccination schedule.

Carefully re enact the incidence again mentally. If you feel that 1. It was a street dog and no way you can watch it for 10 days for its normalcy. 2. The saliva smeared on cricket ball some how entered inside the open skin by giving entry to your blood. If answer to both questions is 'yes' or'can't say. There is chance of contamination of blood with rabies germs. Then it is safe to complete the 5 dose course of rabies vaccine. You may also personally discuss with your doctor. I presume you have taken 5 dose course sometimes before 2 nd june. Then 2 booster doses. Subsequently one dose on 8 th june. In this case you have one year period of protection from 3rd june onwards. Only you need to consult an expert or surgeon if it was rabies animal, with deep lacerated wound nearer head. Otherwise you could have ignored it and avoided booster second time within 5 days again.
