Causes of rectal bleeding include hemorrhoids, anal fissure, proctitis, crohn's disease, diverticulosis, ulcerative colitis, rectal ulcer, rectal prolapse, ischemic colitis, angiodysplasia, rectal trauma, anal cancer, colon cancer, proctitis from radiation therapy, and others.

Hard stool often causes a fissure in the anal canal & this may bleed & is also painful. If you are complaining of painless passage of blood on defaecation then you may perhaps have piles. So please consult a surgeon for the necessary assessment for an appropriate diagnosis, & management.

It is likely to be piles or an anal fissure. Anal fissure is painful and improves with general measures but may require surgery. Piles may or may not require surgery depending on its stage. The general measures I would suggest are 1. Take lot of vegetables & fruits in your diet

Please don’t panic. You need to visit a Proctologist to find the wound from where the bleeding is happening. It can be Piles or fissure. Accordingly medicines will help. Surgery is usually not needed in first time problems and can be controlled with right medicines.
