Ajwain (Carom Seeds) Benefits And Its Side Effects Health Feed

I am 53 years old, on thyroxine 200 MCG now and since 1987, on anti hypertensive Eritel 80 mg for last two years. Putting on weight and developed back ache, BUN values are also deteriorating. Please suggest alternatives to eritel.

Low thyroids indicate poor metabolism and definitely will be accompanied with weight gain ,swelling anywhere o. The body or all over the body, laziness,feeling tiredness, tendency to day sleep ,heaviness of head etc. The best is to promote your metabolism by staying active. 53 is a good age to join a good group of workout sessions be it yoga or dance workout like zumba etc or even some walking groups. Make a mix of pepper ajwain turmeric and dry ginger powder all in 3qual quantity and use 1 tsp of this powder mix to 1 glass of boiling water. Like tea. Filter and drink once in the morning and once in the evening. Will be a good substitute for green tea or black tea. Whenever possible avoid white sugar and sweet foods. Yiu may use brown sugar or jaggery of tempted. Sugars as they slow down metabolism and inturn bad for thyroid issues. Also avoid milk and milk products. Butter milk after removing the cream can be used occasionally. Milk and Curd is a big NO. Disease not due to organism are due to internal errors in the body. Which can be corrected by reversing the bad habits into good habits. The trouble of starting something new is just for a week and after 7 days body starts realising the benefits of healthy habits like exercising and dietary changes and respond well. The back ach is possibly because of weakening back muscles due to lack of exercise .start with a routine 30 kin to 45 in walk and then slowly switch on mild lying down exericises and so on and even suryanamaskar like yoga. Hi Lybrate user, if you are having wheat allergy you should completely avoid all the wheat products. As you are having decreased blood count you are having fever, body ache soak fenugreek seeds/ flax seeds/ ajwain overnight have it on your empty stomach take half tsp of turmeric + half tsp amla powder and add little water to it. Mix it well and make a paste. From that make small balls and take it after having the above told water do exercise daily after that go for yoga and pranayam take food at correct time and correct amount do not avoid breakfast take healthy food avoid fried and excess oily food make juice out of carrot + beet root add pomegranate juice, grapes juice to your daily diet eat dinner before 9 pm do not have large/ heavy meals for dinner.

Hi. I am a 28 year old female. My question is about my menstrual cycles. I started menstruating at age of 12 or 13. And my cycles have been regular since (vary from 28 to 30 day cycle). And it didn't use to be as painful as it is now. I used to feel weakness and fatigue and an obvious discomfort but that's it. Now, for past 3-4 years, I experience serious back-ache, stomach cramps and pain in legs. Also, Extreme weakness in body. It hinders my from doing even the most basic work during first three days. Should I be worried? And, what is the cause of this sudden change in pain pattern of periods? Can I do something so it doesn't pain that much every time rather than pain killers or temporary home remedies Note: I am not sexually active amd periods have been regular (varying from 28-30 days each month) Also, sometimes flow of blood decreases compared to previous cycles but I try to regulate it with maintain a proper diet and also taking ajwain (that helps).

Kindly get an ultrasound done. It may be a case of fibroids or PID (pelvic inflammatory disorder) or PCOD (Poly cystic ovarian Disorder ). These diseases are very common nowadays.In case nothing comes up in the report. Thank God. And Take Magnesia Phos 6x (Homeopathic) 2 tabs in 1/4th cup hot water thrice daily premeals, during the periods. N.B. Don't consume ajwain daily. Effective Ways Ayurveda Can Help In Infertility!

With any fertility treatment, a failure is possible due to several reasons. Most couples are having a problem while conceiving a baby and seek various fertility treatments with hope. When things happen otherwise, and the treatment fails, they miserably suffer.

What is IVF?

IVF or In Vitro Fertilization is a fertility treatment where eggs are removed from the woman’s ovary and fertilized with retrieved sperms in a laboratory dish. The embryo is then transferred to the woman’s uterus. The treatment is said to have a success rate of 40 percent; which means that it can fail in 60 percent cases.

So, why does the treatment fail?

Can it possibly fail ? 

Though the success of IVF depends on certain predominant factors like age and overall health, there are two common reasons behind a failure of IVF, and they are:

  1. An abnormal embryo- The most prevalent reason for a failed IVF is an abnormal or incompetent embryo. In most cases, this is due to an irregular number of chromosomes (aneuploidy) in the embryo. This might be because of an abnormal egg or abnormal sperm or when both gametes are abnormal.

  2. Implantation failure- An underlying implantation dysfunction may prevent the embryo from attaching to the lining of the uterus. When the thickness of the endometrium is thin (less than 9 mm) at the time of progesterone administration, the implantation may fail. Implantation may fail due to surface lesions in the uterine cavity (due to scarring, polyps, or uterine fibroids) as well.

Other reasons are poor ovarian response and pre-treatment stress.

Make IVF a success with Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the ancient system of healing, appropriately prepares you well-ahead of an IVF treatment. The three key aspects of this treatment are – Detoxification, Nourishment, and Lifestyle changes.


The success of IVF is largely dependent on healthy eggs and sperms and a proper implantation of the embryo. Thus, as the first step, Ayurveda suggests that the couple are to be cleansed with Pancha Karma treatment before conception. Known as Beejshuddhi and Sthanshuddhi, the detoxification procedure purifies ovum, sperms, and uterus.

Along with these, other Pancha Karma procedures like Basti, Uttarbasti, Yoniprakshalana, Vamana, and Virechana are performed to improve the health of reproductive organs. Shirodhara helps in reducing the stress levels of the couple.


Diet is an inherent component of Ayurveda treatment. Hence, a diet that increases fertility is advised to the couple. The couple is advised to stay away from certain foods as well.

The fertility diet includes fresh and organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, dairy proteins, Moong dal, soaked almonds and walnuts, dried fruits like figs, dates, and raisins, ajwain seeds, cumin seeds, and turmeric.

You should refrain yourself from spicy and salty foods and that containing artificial sweeteners, high-fat food, caffeine, alcohol, and excessive meat. Apart from the diet, certain Ayurvedic herbs are prescribed that strengthens the reproductive organs and improve immunity.

Lifestyle Changes

Infertility has become one of the lifestyle diseases. Ayurveda insists that healthy lifestyle is essential to conceive a baby. According to your body constitution, an Ayurvedic expert can guide you to make lifestyle modifications with Dinacharya and Rutucharya. Also, you must ensure adequate sleep and practice yoga (Surya Namaskar, Sarvangasana, Dhanurasana, Shalabasana, and Pranayama) regularly.

When IVF treatment is failing frequently, you tend to lose hope. However, with Ayurveda, there is definitely hope for success in conception.

Aapke father ki age btayen. Khana khane ke 45 minute ke baad 1/2 spoon ajwain and 1/2 teaspoon sonth ka powder paani ke saath dijiye. Ek bottle mein paani daal den aur 1pinch eno usme daal dein. Fir woh paani saara din peena hai. 15 din lena hai fir contact karen.

I have diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine. Symptoms started with Dizziness than imbalance, Sensitivity to Light & Sounds, Mild Tinnitus and Pressure in head. It all started after stressful events followed by a flight journey. I have been tested with VNG and Audiometry and everything is fine so they are saying its vestibular migraine. I am uder 2 medication propranolol and flunarizine (Haven't any significant effect. Any advice regarding this would be of great help.

The reason behind this seems to be vaat (vayu) aggravation. Don't take heavy food items esp rajma, chhole, non veg, cauliflower, brinjal etc. Take warm water. You may drink ajwain +saunf water daily. Put warm anuoil in your nostrils daily at bedtime. Take Ayurveda medicines.

Each patient face different symptom of asthma. So I need your complete case to give you advice about it. Try to recognize and avoid the factors that trigger the asthmatic attacks. • Keep a diary and try to trace a pattern or relation between your allergic reaction and the allergen. • Families with history of allergy should avoid artificial food, eggs, cocoa, juices and wheat preparation to infants till the age of six months.
