My mother has been suffering from pituitary gland disorder. Doc prescribed hisone 10 mg in morning and hisone 5 mg in evening. She has been taking these medicine from last 7 months. Everything seems fine except her slight weight gain. Does these medicines have side effects. Doc said she has to take these medicine forever.

Weight gain is one of the side effects of Hisone.
But if the drug is given for her pituitary condition, then she has to take till her physician tapers and stops it
But she can control and modify her diet to minimise the effect.

You need to take Folic acid 5 mg regularly and get Ultrasounf for NT and NB and double marker at 11 weeks to rule out any problem of the baby. If all reports are fine then you can keep the baby.

The best time to get a scan that rules out congenital anamoly in foetus is 18 -24 weeks scan .Any scan done after that might have high chance of missing anamolies in the baby. That is what they have mentioned. As long as the growth of the baby in the scan you have done is adequate do not worry about the comment.
