It has been estimated that approximately one‐third of patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis will evolve into chronic disease over time. This time interval can be relatively short for alcoholic pancreatitis but is often prolonged to 10 years or more for idiopathic pancreatitis.

Most likely your edema and ascites are due to protein deficiency, so unless protein is replenished, you may continue to have issues. Speak to your doctor about oral protein supplements, to see if that is a feasible option for you. You may also consult with a palliative care institution, which may help you get the injections or supplements for free or at subsidized rates. Also, you can get in touch with distributors directly who can get you heavy discounts on the products.

It will be better if you avoid completely. But even if you loose your discipline you should eat a very minimal amount, that too once or twice a month.
For strength you can do some physical exercise and eat nutrient rich foods like chicken and eggs or paneer, tofu etc if you are veg. You should also take few pieces of dry fruits daily for energy.
