compression - you can use a crepe bandage or an ankle binder
elevation - keep your leg over a pillow when sleeping.
Do not try to bear weight over the affected leg. You might also be having ligament sprain and such issues are not seen on the xray. Give some time for the soft tissue healing. You can take some mild painkillers whenever you suffer unbearable pain and apply some local ointment (diclofenac or such). Swelling will take time to go comple...more
