Your recovery may require two weeks to 3 months but the bone graft itself will require three months to heal. However, you will be advised not to indulge in extensive exercises for at least six months and to keep the area of the bone graft clean and dry.

Most surgeons would harvest the hamstring tendons for using as grafts for ligament reconstruction in the knee. That usually would not determine the cost. Its the usage of the fixation devices that would determine the cost. Usually nonabsorbable interference screws are cheaper.

Hi lybrate-user,
I appreciate you seeking help. Well, having already attempted surgery once and with the tumor recurring locally, I would advise you to meet up a medical oncologist specializing in bone and musculoskeletal cancers for further evaluation and traction as appropriate. Now that it has not responded favorably to surgery, further treatment with medicines could possibly control the progression of the disease. It seems by the history that your husband had a fracture upper end tibia
normally after 4 months the bone does unite but sometimes (depending on the fracture configuration) it may even take 6 months it is advisable to get a fresh x ray done and that may be compared to the one done immediate post surgery to see the progress.
