I have old migrain problem from last 9 years its only in 1 side, right side also I feel so much pain pl suggest me.

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM, Fellowship in palliative medicine, certificate in interventional pain management
Pain Management Specialist, Pune
First of all the diagnosis of migraine is to be confirmed if its not done till now. Many patients diagnose their headache as migraine without doctors opinion. Treatment will vary with the cause of headache. Migraine headache is characterised by unilateral pulsating headache associated with nause/vomiting and photophobia / phonophobia. There are triggers for migraine like sun exposure, certain foods or smell, lack of sleep, excess caffeine etc. The triggers are variable for different patients. Migraine attacks can be managed by simple painkillers like paracetamol but in resistant cases drugs like Sumatriptan may be needed. For frequent episodes of migraine preventive medications are to be taken by prescription. There are various medicines available for this and if control is not achieved with one medicine another drug is to be added. Don't take painkillers daily for migraine headaches, it's better to take the preventive medicines. Painkillers on long term basis can further aggravate the migraine headache into Medication Overuse Headace (Read my health tip on Medication Overuse Headache) Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid migraine headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. Exercise daily (aerobics and cardiovascular) 5. Identify your headache trigger and try to avoid it. 6. Do pranayam daily. You can consult a pain specialist for therapies like dry needling or botulinum injections for your problem. Consult again for further queries.

Give yourself a scalp massage with other oils. The very act of gently massaging your scalp with a beneficial oil can help promote hair growth. Massaging your scalp helps to slough away dead skin and unplug hair follicles that are clogged, stimulating new growth. You can add a few drops of rosemary or cedarwood essential oil to make the treatment even more effective. Give yourself a weekly head massage using one of the following oils: ◦Coconut oil ◦Argan oil ◦Jojoba oil ◦Almond oil.

The key is to eat in moderation at regular intervals, and not to starve yourself. Start your day with a good and healthy breakfast like a cereal and milk combination for e. G oats/ dalia porridge with low fat milk or curd. Between your lunch and breakfast you can have a light mid-morning snack, i. E, a fruit perhaps, and follow this by a balanced meal in moderate quantity for lunch. Have plenty of vegetables which will keep you full and cut down on the amount of rice/ chapatis that you are having. Also cut down on your fat intake and reduce oil in cooking. Avoid fast food, junk food, sugary food and soft drinks. Along with this, do not forget to exercise regularly. For a detailed diet plan, click on private consultation.

I've been having this pain in my left upper back for a while. It feels sore and painful whenever I turn or lie down. I feel pain in my upper left chest when I press on one rib there or when I bend. The pain forces me to cough. I did an ECG and a blood test for a clot and a chest xray and all results were normal. I'd like to know what might be the causes for that pain.

Hi, Read the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. Medication: Start taking Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 1 month. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. All the best!

Please suggest me how to tackle school refusal problem in my seven year old son. He is good at studies, sports and a ...
Dear Lybrate user, School refusal is a very common phenomenon seen among young children. It is imperative to know the reason why your child refuses to go to the school. Does it happen everyday or only sometimes? How do you as parents respond to the child's refusal to go to school? How is the overall parent-child relationship, family environment and environment at school? Questions like these need to be asked for a better understanding of the whole situation. Hence, I advise you to meet a Clinical Psychologist in person along with your child and address the issue. - Till then, try and talk to your child as to why he/she refuses to go to school? Listen to your child patiently and acknowledge his/her feelings appropriately. Make him/her feel assured and understood through your discussion. - In addition to this, it is extremely important for the parents to maintain their calm and handle the situation properly when your child does not want to go to school. Instead of shouting at your child or even hitting him/her try to maintain your calm so that it does not aggravate the situation and negatively reinforce the problem behaviour. - Positively reinforce your child with a hug, a kiss or with something that he/she likes on the days when he/she goes to school. Make it clear to them that this is a reward that they have earned by going to school so that they also understand that getting these rewards is contingent/dependent on their school going behaviour. It will instil a sense of responsibility in your child for his/her behaviours and the consequences they get. - These need to be followed consistently and always fulfil your promises to the child. These are just some ways to handle it slightly better, for proper management consult a Clinical or Child Psychologist in person. Best wishes.

Hello, this is one egg in the ovary and likely to rupture i.e ovulate. Ideally a follicle ruptures at 22x 22 mm size, so you should be ovulating in next 36-48 hrs.
