Hi - incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Dear lybrate user normal average daily requirement vary due to physical exercise. Weather condition. Fever. Etc. Given all normal average condition we can safely say that 2 litres per day is ok. It may rise up to 3 to 4 litres or even more under different situations as expressed above. All depend on degree of daily loss of water from the body in the form of sweating + urine and stool outputs. Our brain has a mechanism wherein some specialized cells in the hypothalamus called osmoreceptors will get stimulated when there is loss of fluid and it gives away signals of thirst forcing the person to drink more.

You have not mentioned your height to suggest weight. It is not per age. To maintain a low body fat and/or lower body fat: 1. Exercise at least 5 times per week 2. Eat whole/unprocessed foods at regular intervals, while being aware of physical hunger/fullness cues 3. Sleep 7-9 hours per night 4. Don’t engage in extreme diets 5. Stay consistent with your habits 6. Incorporate non-exercise physical activity 7. Ignore food advertising You need a fat loss diet which comprises of whole grains like jowar, bajra, wheat, brown rice, pulses like moong, musoor, bengal gram, lots of vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish, chicken, paneer, healthy oil, nuts and seeds. You need to eat them in right proportion. Avoid eating sugar and sweets, refined foods like maida, noodles pasta, White rice and products, bread. Drink a lot of water.

You can control diabetes by following a proper balanced diet chart. You need to have more of whole grain fibrous food rather than refined food product. Eat at regular time interval. Do exercise regularly. Avoid taking sweet products. Eat fruits, vegetables in liberal amount.

Mr. lybrate-user, If you have confirmed diabetes then taking anti - diabetic treatment is the only option, to control blood glucose. In addition to appropriate medicine regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day and diet control also are equally important. As regards food intake, you should avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries and other bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas) and fructose corn syrup containing products. Consume good deal of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits like papaya, pomegranate, orange, sweet lime, apple, pear and guava. With good glucose control fruits intake should be about 100 g a day. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines and no prescriptions. So if you want specific drugs to be prescribed please come in a private communication with all details like Fasting, PP blood glucose levels, HbA1c%, present drugs if any, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise. You can follow some tips in daily routine. 1. After every meal, drink 1 cup boiling water with spoon sip by sip. After half an hour you have taken meal do this daily. 2. Try to avoid eating heavy food after 7 pm. As it takes time to digest heavy food. 3. Drink 1 glass water half an hour before meal. 4. Try to do some exercise.
