If even after 35 days of last menstrual period, you don't have menses, please use pregnancy kits like prega news to confirm presence or absence of pregnancy. Just keep few points in mind. 1. Barrier contraceptives like condoms have higher failure rate (around 15 %) 2. With regular use of contraceptive medications, the menstrual date is usually not delayed.(not with emergency contraception) 3. With emergency contraceptive use, menstrual cycle may get irregular. So in this case, please go for pregnancy test first and then further evaluations can be carried out. Thank u.be healthy.

Know More About Ayurveda Medicine!
  • Ayurveda medicine originated in india and is one of the oldest medical systems on the planet. “ayurveda” combines the sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). As interest in health and wellness has increased in the western world, ayurvedic medicine has become something of a trend. Ayurvedic medical practices include treatments using herbal compounds, special diets, massage and other techniques that are meant to prevent and treat various ailments.
  • Although ayurvedic medicine is widely studied, practiced and accepted in the east, in the west it remains something of a side note. For many people in the west, they have begun to study and practice ayurvedic medicine on their own, with and without traditional practitioners.
  • Generally speaking, ayurvedic is safe, especially when under the guidance of skilled practioners. It is important to note that while ayurvedic medicine relies on herbs and natural ingredients, some of them may interact and interfere with western medications so it is important that you let your doctors know about your illness complete.

4 Things that Cause Vaginal Dryness

MD-Gynaecologist & Obstetrician , MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
4 Things that Cause Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is an uncomfortable and painful condition that usually occurs during or after menopause. The estrogen level in your body gets reduced during this time which eventually leads to vaginal dryness. However, there are other factors that can trigger this condition including certain medications and immune disorders. This is a problem that can affect women at any age but it is visible more frequently in older women.

Here are some common factors that may lead to vaginal dryness:

1. Hormonal changes - A decrease in estrogen level that occurs during menopause is one of the most common causes of vaginal dryness. The decrease in estrogen may also occur during perimenopause, during breastfeeding or after childbirth. Radiation and chemotherapy for cancer treatment may also result in a decrease in vaginal lubrication.

2. Irritants - Chemicals present in soaps, dyes, hygiene products and perfumes may cause allergy in some women. Irritants present in underwear or towels and other allergens like objects and lubricants that are placed in the vagina may also cause vaginal dryness.

3. Insufficient arousal - Low libido or other sexual problems may also lead to vaginal dryness. Poor sexual performance and early ejaculation may also contribute to it.

4. Anxiety - Sexual desire can be affected by emotional and psychological factors such as anxiety and stress that may eventually lead to vaginal dryness. High anxiety level in women results in insufficient flow of blood, causing vaginal dryness.

How can vaginal dryness be treated?

Topical estrogen therapy is a common method of treating vaginal dryness caused by low estrogen level. Topical estrogen helps in inserting some hormone that your body is no longer producing. This controls the vaginal symptoms to a certain extent but it does not replace as much estrogen as oral hormone therapy, in your blood stream. Lubricants and moisturizers may also be applied to reduce vaginal dryness and make sex less painful and uncomfortable.

Word of Caution

Please get a PAP Smear done before starting local estrogen and keep a follow up with your doctor.

'Consult'.

Good Breast Feeding: How to Know?

MD - Paediatrics, DNB (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Rourkela

Usually mothers often feel insecure about their milk production amount and they often feel that their babies aren't getting enough milk, which results in switching to formula feeds, which is not good for their babies in the long run.

This post will help the willing mothers to feed their babies and help as confidence building measure.

1. Milk production gets boosted when mother keep their babies close to body. It provide warmth, bonding, ease tension, etc

2. Proper positioning of baby while feeding is important. You can watch YouTube videos on breastfeeding positions, like CRADLE, CROSS CRADLE, FOOTBALL positions etc.

3. Breastfeeding is a painless procedure,if you are feeling pain, something is wrong.Getting sore nipple, crack nipple are findings of improper attachment.

4. Feed the baby for atleast 20min, it helps baby getting foremilk(watery part of milk) which quench thirst as well as hind milk(thick part of milk) which provides satiety.

5. If baby sleeps while feeding, wake her up by gentle stroking in feet, completely empty your breast otherwise the baby becomes cranky, pass frequent small quantity stools with improper weight gain

6. Passage of urine more than 8 times per day, good sleep in between feeds and proet weight gain are good sign of successful breast feeding.

7. Dont get biased based on advertisement of formula feed in media. They aren't superior to breastmilk in any ways.Breastmilk provide protection against asthma, allergies, blood pressure, heart diseases etc

HAPPY NURSING..

I'm not getting sleep for more than 38 days ,what shall I do .I had delivered six month old baby due to microcephaly. They used mtp for inducing delivery .may be this will be the reason for small cyst in my right ovary after a month of delivery.

Obviously you are under stress after the mtp. You can meet a doctor for treatment of anxiety. There are many safe medicines to cure you present mental condition. Also, microcephaly does not happen everytime. Go for torch test to see if there is any infection which you can get treated for. Alcohol and drugs are not to be consumed. Along with dengue, mosquito bite can cause zika virus infection, which is mild, but during pregnancy it is being suspected as cause of microcephaly. Be aware of such issues before you try for pregnancy again. There is good hope, so you can look forward to the future. Sleep will come automatically.
