This could be due to OA knee &/Or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated Rule out diabetes & vit.D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. IBUPROFEN 200mg OD & SOS x 5days CALDIKID PLUS (mankind) 1 tab ODx10days You will need other supportive medicines also. For Ankylosing Spondylitis the best suggestion to do general aerobic exercises which includes breathing and all the other exercises which involves the total movements of the proximal joints ie. Neck, shoulder, elbow in the upper limb and in the lower limbs, trunk, hip, knee movements which will facilitate to improve the normal range of motion of the joints thereby improving the blood circulation. You can also try swimming activity, tread mill, cycling etc.

Without taking medicine how can it possible to recover the fever, headache, back pain.please help .

Without taking medicine how can it possible to recover the fever, headache, back pain.please help .
Soak a washcloth in cool tap water, wring out the excess water and then sponge areas like your armpits, feet, hands and groin to reduce the temperature. Also, you can place cold, damp washcloths on your forehead and the back of your neck. The cloth pieces should be changed regularly after a few minutes. This remedy is beneficial when dealing with a high fever as it helps keep temperature under control. You can also take a bath in lukewarm water to relax your body. Taking a shower, however, may not be a good idea. Plus, needless to say, take as much rest as possible as it helps the body fight the illness. Note: Do not use very cold water as it may cause the internal body temperature to increase. For further queries get back to me.

Sometimes, my calf of any one leg move slightly up and it cause severe pain. What is the problem and what should I do...
It is called muscle cramps. In such case I would advise you to take some precautions and start taking the physio treatment to get it completely cured. Take some alum mix in hot water and take fermentation thrice a day along with calf stretching and strengthening exercises. Make a habit of brisk walking daily for 20-25 min atleast. This will give you some percent of relief. Start exercises one or two days after hot fermentation do no start immediately. Make sure not to sit in one position for long time with knee bending. Avoid prolong standing as gravity creates a downward flow so you may face pain. So avoid against gravity positions. Using your thumb massage your calf area as it will increase pump action and release all toxins from your body by reducing pain and gives you relaxation for any doubt please contact. Regards.

What is the pain-free option for physiotheraphy. My left hand was in a cast for 6 weeks and now I want to make it straight. What are other options?

MPTh/MPT

Post traumatic stiffness does not have pain free option. Ask physiotherapist to start mobilisation as soon as possible, you may ask him to go slow on you so that you feel less pain, but doing this it may take longer for you to get full range.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Lower Back Pain - 5 Important Things To Remember

M.S. Orthopedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Ahmedabad
Lower Back Pain - 5 Important Things To Remember

Lower back pain is a very common issue and can take place due to numerous reasons. However, one of its main causes is a ligament strain or back muscle strain. Microscopic tears or excessive stretching of ligaments can take place due to lifting very heavy objects or doing enormously strenuous task or due to a sudden twisted movement.

These conditions are most likely to be experienced by individuals ranging between the ages of 30 and 60. Other causes of lower back pain include back injury, arthritis of back bone joints, infections in the lower back area, and in very rare cases, tumours.

In case of acute back pain, these are a few important things that should be definitely kept in mind.

  1. It is absolutely essential to take rest for a couple of days and avoid any sort of stressful activity. Although back pain is self-limiting, if you take proper care, it can be cured in a few days. However, if proper rest is not taken, the situation may become worse.
  2. Using the black belt, also known as lumbo sacral corset, is a good idea. This can actually be of enormous help to individuals who have been suffering from lower back pain for a long period of time.
  3. As already mentioned, one of the main causes of these kinds of mishaps are sudden jerky movements, twisted movements, heavy weight lifting etc. So, it is necessary to avoid such circumstances, or else, a more acute back pain situation may arise due to slipping of one of the discs from the spinal cord.
  4. As much as you like long drives and bike rides, these are a strict no. Any prolonged sitting or standing activity needs to be avoided. It is important that the tear caused in the muscles due to what-so-ever reason heals properly and prolonged stay in a tensed muscle position would definitely not help the cause.
  5. Although these back pains can be handled at home by following the discussed steps, using simple analgesics or muscle relaxants prescribed by the doctor can be a way to speed up the process of recovering the strained ligament.

Apart from these important steps, regular exercise to strengthen the core body muscles is a great way to avoid such ligament strains in the future. However, if you feel that even after following the precautionary measures, the problem doesn’t subside, visit an experienced doctor for his advice. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Orthopedist.
