Dear lybrateuser, -your chest pain could be due to acidity, sedentary habit or heart problem -avoid spicy, fried & junk food, have meals on regular times, do not skip meals, have 7-8 glasses of water a day -do regular exercises like walking for 20-30 min, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 5-10 min in the morning -heart problem can be checked by ecg, tmt, echo, cardiac ct scan, mri can detect other problems if there in the chest, consult a doctor for proper treatment of the cause.

My Angioplasty/ bmstenting was done on 29-8-13, since then I am taking Atorvastatin10 mg, Ramipril 2.5mg daily. My heart condition is quite well & my all labs reports of blood sugar, lipid profile, blood pressure are normal. Now I do not want to take these medicines further more. As per cardiologist these medicines will have to take life long period, but I am not interested to take these further more due to side effect of these in form of heavy constipation & back skin dryness & itching whole day. Please advice me regarding stopping above medicines.

You are right , these are side effects of medicines, Atovastin is to lower cholesterol but it does lead to cognitive dysfunction , strain on kidneys and heart. Some doctors are giving it twice a week, others are asking to eat less fats and keep good fats in the blood on higher side. Ramipril is ACE inhibitor with its own side effects , it is given to bring down BP. You can try Safe Beta Blockers like Metoprolol which is protective for heart also, Monitor the dose accordingly. Take more fruits and vegetables to protect heart and to add bulk to diet.

Dear, you need to reduce the cholesterol levels. High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) what is hypercholesterolemia? hypercholesterolemia is a condition in which the level of cholesterol in your blood is high. When you have too much cholesterol, deposits of fat in the blood called plaque form inside blood vessel walls. The blood vessel walls thicken and become narrower (a condition called atherosclerosis). This change in the blood vessels reduces blood flow through the blood vessels, increasing your risk of heart disease and possibly leading to heart attacks or strokes. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring fatty substance. Your body needs small amounts of cholesterol to make and maintain nerve cells and to produce hormones. Most of the cholesterol in your blood is made by your liver from the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins you eat. You also get cholesterol by eating animal products such as meat, eggs, and dairy products. The two most important components of cholesterol are ldl (low-density lipoprotein) and hdl (high-density lipoprotein). Ldl and hdl carry cholesterol through your blood. Ldls carry a lot of cholesterol, leave behind fatty deposits on your artery walls, and contribute to heart disease. Hdls do the opposite. They clean the artery walls and remove extra cholesterol from the body, thus lowering the risk of heart disease. Ldl is called" bad" cholesterol. (you can think of" l" for" lousy" cholesterol.) hdl is called" good" cholesterol (think of" h" for" healthy" cholesterol). It is good to have low levels of ldl and high levels of hdl. How does high cholesterol occur? the main cause of high cholesterol is eating foods that are high in saturated fat or cholesterol. Other possible causes are? an inherited problem with the way your body processes cholesterol? a disease that raises the cholesterol level (for example, diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, liver disease, or hypothyroidism). What are the symptoms? high cholesterol is a silent disease. There are no symptoms until problems have already developed, such as the chest pain of a heart attack or calf pain with walking, caused by narrowed or blocked arteries to the legs. How is it diagnosed? you will have blood tests to check your cholesterol level. These lab tests usually measure your total cholesterol level as well as the levels of low-density lipoprotein (ldl), high-density lipoprotein (hdl), and triglycerides. You may need to fast before your blood test. This means you do not eat or drink anything except water for 12 hours before the test. Your health care provider may give you a physical exam. He or she may ask about your diet and diseases and health problems in your family. How is it treated? the goal of most cholesterol treatment is to decrease the ldl in your blood and to raise the hdl. For every 1% decrease in cholesterol level, your risk of heart disease is reduced 2%. A diet high in fiber and low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol can help to lower cholesterol levels. For more information on changes you can make in your diet, see health maintenance: controlling cholesterol. You will need to lose weight if you are overweight. You should also exercise as recommended by your health care provider. If diet and exercise are not enough to reduce your cholesterol level, your health care provider may prescribe drugs. Among the drugs commonly used are cholestyramine, niacin, gemfibrozil, atorvastatin, fluvastatin, lovastatin, pravastatin, and simvastatin. Each medicine has slightly different effects. Sometimes you will need to take more than one medicine to decrease your total cholesterol. Your health care provider will choose the best medicines for you. How can I take care of myself and prevent high cholesterol? in addition to changing your diet, you can help lower your cholesterol by the following? get more exercise, especially aerobic exercise. Ask your health care provider about an exercise prescription. Start slowly to avoid injury. Exercise helps raise hdl levels, improve circulation, decrease body fat, and tone muscles? don't smoke? maintain a normal weight? have your cholesterol levels and weight checked by your health care provider.

As of now for headache you can take tablet paracetamol. But we will have to make a diagnosis to get to the cause of it which can be either due to frontal sinusitis or due to migrane or due to refractive error of the eyes or due to other causes for which we have to investigate. If you want medicine than, I will prescibe.

I have high cholesterol
which food I should eat.
Cholesterol level should be measured at least once every five years in everyone over age 20. The screening test that is usually performed is a blood test called a lipid profile. Experts recommend that men ages 35 and older and women ages 45 and older be more frequently screened for lipid disorders. The lipoprotein profile includes: Total cholesetrol LDL (low-density lipoprotein CHOLESETROL also called "bad"CHOLESTETROL HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) TRIGLYCERIDES (fats carried in the BLOOD from the food we eat. Excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in the body are converted into TRIGLYCERIDES and stored in fat cells throughout the body. High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. GARLIC,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Ecosprin gold-10 at night daily.

How to control blood pressure through home remedies?
Dietary and other lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure. Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm hg. This eating plan is known as the dietary approaches to stop hypertension (dash) diet. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. If you're overweight, losing even 3 kgs can lower your blood pressure. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.
