High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation,yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods,oily foods,junk foods,alcohol,smoking,fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress,take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. To control & maintain Blood pressure to normal these are best methods to follow : .• Do physical exercise like jogging ,running or brisk walk for atleast 20-30 minutes. • Maintain your cholesterol level to normal & eat least amount of butter ,cream or fatty things. • Eat less amount of pickle , salt and fast food as they contain high sodium levels . • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking . • Take less amount of caffine containing coffee , tea or cold drinks because caffine causes increase BP . • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily .Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams (Anulom- Vilom, Bhramari) daily for 10 - 15 minutes .It will reduce your stress level in your body. • Eat healthy diet such as green leafy vegetables, fruits . • Take 5 ml of GULAB Jal added in a glass of water daily once a day.

To start - nonpharmacological measures - e. G salt restricted diet, normalize body weight, stop smoking, physical exercise, etc. If these fail then drugs need to be added. Also rule out secondary hypertension.

Hi my heartbeat increases suddenly sometimes after getting a push from inside. I think it is due to gastric problem this happens once in 15-20 days. This remains for about 5 minutes. My ECG is normal and I did not eat outside's oily food. I got normal after the gas got passed. What is this problem and what is the solution. I got this problem when I was living outside my home for 3 months.

You were eating outside food for 3 months. Good to know that ecg is normal at age 21. Get back to eating regular home cooked food-simple with minimum fat, sugar and salt. Deworming-3 tabs of nemocid together + 200 mg metrogyl twice daily after food for 3 days. Walking is best exercise to digest food. Use ginger-garlic as food softeners, heeng, jeera, ajwain + saunf to have better digestion. Get back here after a week.

I am having serious stomach ache for quite sometime now. It happens randomly. I feel extremely sharp pain and along with that a pain in my chest. It goes away after a couple minutes of resting. Heart diseases and hypertension which lead to heart or other organ failures has been on the rise for the past 2 decades. People above the age of 35+ have been seen suffering from such problems due to their unbalanced dietary habits and sedentary lifestyle. Its always advisable to control these factors to reduce your risk.

An indulgent lifestyle and an inadequate diet are two major causes of heart disease which can be changed. To stay fit here are a few measures of care and control

7 warning signals to know about.

Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or episodes of pain in the centre of the chest lasting more than a few minutes. Pain spreading to the shoulders, neck or arms. It may feel like pressure, tightness, burning or heavy weight. It may be located in the chest, upper abdomen, neck, jaw or inside the arms or shoulders.


    Chest discomfort with light headedness, fainting, sweating, nausea, vomiting.
    Shortness of breath or agonal gasp.
    Anxiety, nervousness and/or cold, sweaty skin.
    Paleness.
    Increased or irregular heart rate or flutter or palpitation
    Feeling of impending doom with sinking sensation.


Know behind the scene 

A heart attack occurs when one or more of coronary arteries (main supply to heart) become blocked. Over time, a coronary artery can narrow from the buildup of various substances, including cholesterol (atherosclerosis). This condition, known as coronary artery disease, causes most heart attacks.

A. B. C of cardiac care

- avoid tobacco (cigarette, shisha)

- be more active (cardio exercises)

- choose good nutrition (eat larger portions of low-calorie, nutrient-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, and smaller portions of high-calorie, high-sodium foods, such as refined, processed or fast foods.)

Cutting cholesterol

Dietary cholesterol should be 300mg per day. Since it largely comes from animal products, consumption of non-vegetarian, whole full cream milk should be restricted.

Take a health alternative like chicken, fish, beans, vegetables, fruits, breads, pulses, wholewheat flour, cereals, brown rice, millet, skimmed milk and vegetable oils like corn, sesame, soyabean, sunflower, canola, olive and mustard.

Friendly and unfriendly fats
Fat should not exceed 30 per cent of your total calorie intake. Saturated fatty acids in full-cream milk and red meat increase your cholesterol level. Use non-fat or low-fat milk and milk products instead of full-cream milk and avoid sources of saturated fatty acids like lard, butter, cream, palm oil, coconut oil, cheese, etc.

Mono-unsaturated fats that lower cholesterol as well as prevent formation of blood clots are present in olive, canola, peanut and mustard oils. Omega-3, a fatty acid that prevents atherosclerosis is present in foods like herring, mackerel, salmon, tuna, soyabean, walnuts and butternuts. Take these regularly in small quantities to prevent atherosclerosis.

Holistic way to control chest pain


    Boil 4 -5 pods of garlic in glass of milk and consume the garlic pods with milk daily to avoid chest pain.
    Pound the dates with seeds and eat them every day.
    Increase the intake of ginger and lime in your diet.
    Drink a glass of milk mixed with kadukai (ink nut) powder every night before going to be.
    Take a spoon of tulsi (india basil) juice with honey in empty stomach every day.

Heart diseases has multiple symptoms ,not just little pain on heart side which you have mentioned ,may be you mean chest, get back if there are other symptoms and till then eat in moderation your favorite foods.

Hello Dr. I am 36 years old and 115 kg weight. In recent medical tests my triglycerides is high and also my TSH is 15.5 and T3, T4 is normal. B.p- 140/90, vitamin D deficiency, fbs-105, ppbs-141, HDL- 43, LDL-144, S cholesterol - 204. I have started doing exercise. But diet also important. Dear Lybrateuser, - To reduce your weight you have to have more of fibrous foods like fruits & vegetables, beans, legumes, whole grains, peas, nuts, seeds - to reduce triglycerides have more of fibrous foods, do regular exercise, reduce weight, avoid alcohol & smoking, reduce carbohydrates in diet - avoid fried, processed, junk food, chew your food well, do not skip meals, have meals on time, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - reduce nonveg take one portion a day as it has more of saturated fats which will increase cholesterol & triglyceride levels - do regular exercises like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling for 30-40 min, do moderate weight lifting at least twice a week, also do yoga for 10-15 min every morning, it will help reduce weight. -

It is ideal for you to eat small quantities of nutritious food regularly to reduce your weight. It is ideal for you to include at least 30 to 45 minutes of exercise every day to see visible differences in weight. • Have a breakfast by 8:30 am in the morning and limit it to 250 to 300 calories. • Have a handful of nuts as a mid morning snack at 10:30 am • Have your lunch at 12.45 pm and make sure it is only a diet full of veggies and fruits. • At 2:30 pm have your afternoon snack that could be carrot sticks or apple with low fat peanut butter? • At 6 pm have the last meal of the day that includes a cup of vegetables before the meal? Then drink water and follow it with a cup of rice and lean meat.

That means your father may be having bradycardia. Consult a cardiologist. Have regular morning walk say 30 ro 40 min regularly with a little free hand exercise. And have balanced diet.

Hi, once allopathic medicines r administered, it should b continue without enteruption. However, if you so desire to switch over to homoeopathy, take the following medicines, without breaking the course you r taking at present. It will be withdrawn, gradually. Both medicines will continue, simulteneously, taking a gap of an hr homoeo-care*: @ rauwolfia q @ crategus ox q @ avena sat q @ arjuna q mix all the medicines together, take 10 drops of d mixture with 1/4 cup of water, thrice/ day. # go for a walk in the morning for an hr. # take plenty of water # sit for meditation for 30 mnts # avoid, fried, junk food, ghee, butter etc. # take, apple, orange, garlic, green leafy veg. # skimmed milk is preferable # monitor your bp weekly. # report after 15 days. Since after my TB treatment was over my uric acid varies at 6 ~7.5 and also RBC count remains 5.36 both values doesn't lower much. Apart that I am having high cholesterol levels are high as follows Total Cholesterol - 234. LDL - 164.

Dear Cholesterol is made in liver as per body requirement. Food doesnot alter this. So relax. Please reduce protein intake. Light exercise pranayam yoga pure veg diet, lotvif fruits and green vegetables will help. Cap Reimmugen Ayurvedic medicine 2-2 will help. Vm.

High cholesterol levels can be easily controlled by controlled diet. Avoid junk and fast foods (like, burger, pizza, samosa, chowmin, maggi, etc.), Oily and fatty foods (like, Poori, Kachouri, Maida, Chawal, Ghee, dalda, etc.) and also take less sugar. Along with avoiding it, do physical exercises and brisk walking atleast 20 min daily in morning and drink Lauki and karele ka juise. Do this regular for 2 months and then go for cholesterol checkup, you will feel major difference.
