Namasthe sir. My son is 11 months old. Can you suggest me some healthy food recipes for my son. Is cerelac or forex is suggestible to feed him.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Delhi
A 11 month old baby should be eating virtually everything which is being cooked at home such as dhal, sabji (vegetables), rice, etc. Cerelac and farex can be good weaning food but are not the ideal ones.

Can cinnamon helps to reduce blood sugar level? If yes, pse tell me how to take cinnamon and what its dose. Thank you.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, There a few studies which have shown that cinnamon does help in reducing blood glucose. But there other studies which show that there is hardly any benefit. It may be helpful in giving some additional benefit. About 4 g (1 tea spoonful) powder may be taken 2 or 3 times a day. But do not stop the anti-diabetic treatment. Thanks.

What is home made treatment you can recommend for hair loss n also for split ends n break age?

MD - Alternate Medicine, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Mohali
Hair fall may be attributed to different reasons like using artificial colors, hair styling, chemicals etc. It may be due to some internal weakness also. Please go for herbal neem shampoo. Use shikakai and amla as conditioner (soak amla and shikakai in water overnight and boil a little in morning). Apply it on hairs. Keep for half an hour and then wash. It will condition the hairs. Avoid using comb in wet hairs.

I am engineering student. My weight looses continuously. So what can I do? Is it any serious problem?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye, Thanks for the query. Stress, work overload and consequently poor nutrition can lead to weight loss. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help.

I have acne and pimples on may face how can I cure it and due to this I am very much tensed.

BHMS, MD-Homeopathy, PGPC - Preventive Cardiology
Homeopath, Delhi
Lybrate-user you have an oily skin so first foremost you should use a face wash or a soap that helps in keeping your face a bit than usual. For this you may use neem face wash or santoor or medimix soap. Also, whenever you come from outside, before washing your face with cold water, first wipe your oil and sweat with a dry tissue or towel. Once this is done then you may wash your face with good running water. Make this a practice to wipe your face first everytime before washing. 50% of your problem will go if you follow this routine. Then drink plenty of water and avoid eating junk food and fried and spicy food. Avoid excessive intake of sweets as well. Avoid getting constipated. Coming to the treatment, you should definitely go for homoeopathic treatment has it is the most gentle and efficacious mode of medicine.

I am 28 years old female. There is large puffiness under eye area. How can I get rid of this ugly puffiness? please suggest any kind of home remedy.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Hyderabad
For treating puffiness below eyes: 1.Drinking lots of water is good 2.Take nutritious and timely food. 3.Avoid fried foods and eat fruits, nuts, greens, milk and whole grains. 4.Have timely and adequate sleep. This is one of the major reasons for sagging of skin 5.Be relaxed and avoid tension 6.Daily jogging or such exercise to ensure good blood circulation which helps nutrients reaching the skin and face. Facial massage will also promote good circulation. 7.Don?t expose to hot direct sun. Wear cap, full sleeve shirt and shoes which will protect you from sun.. Generally 10 AM to 4 PM is the hottest. Avoid exposure at that time. Keep hydrated by drinking water and preferring juicy fruits. Your complexion will improve and puffiness will disappear. For any further help, we have good treatment in homoeopathy. If you are interested, please let me know along with any related problems. I will prescribe which will be available in homoeopathic shops.

I' m 22 years old. Recently i' m being so irritated. Scolding people I love even for their silly mistakes. Getting anger on persons without reason. I don' t have patience at all. What is happening to me? i' m seriously scared of my personal life

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology
Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear, anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. Take care.

Problems Related To Digestion!

MEM , Diploma in geriatric, MBBS
General Physician, Panchkula
Problems Related To Digestion!

The human digestive system is a very complicated and sizeable component of the body. It starts right at the beginning of the mouth, ending at the rectum. Some of the major responsibilities of the digestive system include absorption of essential nutrients and elimination of wastes.

Not only do digestive problems have embarrassing and unwanted symptoms, serious, chronic diseases can be caused if the minor problems are not treated.

Some digestive problems are listed below:

  1. GERD: This is a burning sensation that results from acids in the stomach being squirted into the oesophagus. A burning sensation is felt, right from the chest to the end of the throat. Frequent heartburns can lead to GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), symptoms of which include dry cough, sore throat, chest discomfort and difficulty in swallowing.
  2. Bloating: This is caused due to the presence of excess gas in the colon, small intestines or the stomach.
  3. Dyspepsia: This is an uncomfortable feeling or pain which occurs in the upper abdominal regions, mostly a result of excess food intake. It is commonly referred to as indigestion. Dyspepsia can be discomforting and if prolonged, medical assistance should be opted for.
  4. Chronic Constipation: Persistent constipation (chronic) is a sign that there is a problem with the elimination of wastes. This usually happens when the colon is unable to move or pass stools. Other major causes of chronic constipation can be changes in your usual diet, various eating disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and excessive consumption of dairy products among others.
  5. Food Intolerance: This occurs when the digestive system is unable to tolerate certain food items. This condition is different from food allergies as it only affects the digestive system. Some of the common symptoms include diarrhoea, headache, gas and vomiting.

Possible Serious Conditions-

A gastroenterologist is a type of doctor that specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases involving the digestive system. If you continue to experience digestion problems, it’s time to make an appointment.

More serious signs could mean an emergency medical problem. Those signs include:

  • bloody stools
  • continuous vomiting
  • severe abdominal cramps
  • sweating
  • sudden, unintentional weight loss

These symptoms could be an indication of an infection, gallstones, hepatitis, internal bleeding, or cancer.

You may be able to overcome digestion problems with treatment and lifestyle changes. Certain diseases of the digestive system might be long-term, but medications can help alleviate symptoms.

Identifying specific digestion problems and talking with a gastroenterologist can go a long way in terms of helping your doctor give you a proper diagnosis. Remember, you don’t have to put up with constant digestive issues.

Respected sir /madam mujhe late night study krte tome bhaut neend ati h plzz iska koi solution btay ki m bina tea ya coffee ke late nyt study kr pau jyada se jyada daily. Thank you ❤

General Physician, Nashik
Avoid tea and coffee. Yes caffeine will wake you up and give you a buzz right away .But once the effect wears off; you will feel even more tired and sleepy than you were before. This happens because these drinks dehydrate you. •Have a balanced diet: Eat a heavy and healthy breakfast but have a light dinner. If you feel hungry at night, eat fruits, dry fruits, and salads only. Avoid junk food. •Take a 20-30 minute nap during the day. This shall help you to concentrate better. •As you study, whenever you feel tired or sleepy or even stressed, take a minute to practice yoga- breathing exercises. Concentrating on your breath can help bring more oxygen to the brain which will in turn wake the body up and help clear your mind to study better. All the best! :)
