My mother, aged 62, having diabetes since 10 yrs, is taking (dibizide-m 4pills a day) &(zita-met a day) although her dibetes can't be controlled it remains-fasting-180-& post-155. Hope giving advice to control it ?

Dear, a proper measure for knowing and managing mothers diabetes will be to ensure a hba1c below 6.5%. She is on lot of medications already. Regarding diet, we indians have high carbohydrate diet. You have to closely observe your plate and you can come up with a better diet plan for her. To simplify it, identify the items which are carb rich in your plate and try to compensate the same with protein and fibres, for eg cut down a roti and increase sabji, dal or salad. To have a better control you can do a monthly self glucose monitoring 3 times a day and keep a track of your food with it. Check fasting sugar, sugar one hour prior your lunch and 2 hrs post lunch, and note down the details of your breakfast and lunch items. Modify as per my earlier suggestions and within a week you will see your blood sugar level responding. Best of luck.

When I had lunch and dinner I had too much cough (Khasi. So please suggest me what I can do? Is it any infection in liver? If yes then please suggest me what the diet or any idea.

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
Avoid eating spicy, fried, food. Eat slowly to avoid aspiration. By eating there is hypersecretion of mucus in respiratory tract which can cause cough. Nothing to do with liver.

I'm very confused about pros and cons of tea n coffee. Is tea/coffee good for health or not?

Any thing in excess is bad including tea/coffee. tea and coffee contain some chemicals if taken in excess will disturb the systems in the human body. so taking one or two cups of tea/coffee is not harmful and some minor benefits to the body, but if you exceed the limit it will definetely affect the health. so beware. good luck

You can get cervical traction done daily by physiotherapists. If this doesn' t give relief, use neck coller also during day. Do neck exercises as per physiotherapist. Take tab neurobion forte thrice daily. Avoid pillow, or change its size.

I’m 22 years old female, diagnosed with pcod since I have got acne and hair growth on face. proactive serum level is high and otherwise testosterone levels are okay. My periods are regular too with the normal bleeding I get from when I attended puberty .My weight is also correct and I have a balanced diet usually. But I don’t understand why I got PCOD and what should be done now for it? Oral medications will help or how? Since my flow is regular.

See Pcod is a genetic disorder rather multifactorial. Not all pcos will have irregular or absent periods. It can be lean or obese PCOS like you fall into lean pcos. So good sign thay you have regular periods and normal androgens. So nothing extra you should do except for acne and hairs on face you need to see a dermatologist and take minimum three to six cycles of dianette daily. Which needs prescription .it will help control proactive hormones levels and acne along with hirsutism.
