Hlo I have high cholesterol levels My cholesterol on 163 please give me diet plan fir reduce it.
If your total cholesterol is 163 then it's normal. If that's your ldl cholesterol then it's high. If you don't have any other risk factors then you can reduce by diet and exercise. No need for any medication at this point.

Dear, To control & maintan BP normal these are best methods to follow:.• Do physical exercise like jogging, running or brisk walk for atleast 20-30 minutes. Start any exercise such as jogging from 5 to 10 minutes, increase the time slowly day by day. • Maintain your cholesterol level to normal & eat least amount of butter, cream or fatty things. • Eat less amount of pickle, salt and fast food as they contain high sodium levels. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of caffine containing coffee, tea or cold drinks because caffine causes increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams (Anulom- Vilom, Bhramari) daily for 10 - 15 minutes. Iam 25 years old. What is essential hypertension and it's causes and effects and it's range.

Iam 25 years old. What is essential hypertension and it's causes and effects and it's range.
Hi, essential hypertension (also called primary hypertension or idiopathic hypertension) is the form of hypertension that by definition has no identifiable cause. It is the most common type of hypertension, affecting 95% of hypertensive patients, it tends to be familial and is likely to be the consequence of an interaction between environmental and genetic factors. Prevalence of essential hypertension increases with age, and individuals with relatively high blood pressure at younger ages are at increased risk for the subsequent development of hypertension. Hypertension can increase the risk of cerebral, cardiac, and renal events. High blood pressure has many risk factors, including: age race family history being overweight or obese not being physically active using tobacco use of too much of salt in o little potassium in diet too little vitamin d drinking too much alcohol stress certain chronic conditions also may increase your risk of high blood pressure, such as kidney disease, diabetes and sleep apnea. I have been having high BP since last 20 years or so and I am 60 years now. Recently about 5 days back I was prescribed Olmezest 20 & Amlong 2.5. However, even after 5 days of this medication my BP is still high at 175/90. I gym, lead normal life, don't have headache and am generally fit. What is the way forward and after how many days does this medicine reduce the BP.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user, I can make out you are facing significant problems with BP control after 20 years of good control. That needs to be evaluated. 5 days may be too early. A reading of 175 is surely high, but any reading needs to be considered in the context of other readings over a certain interval of time (such as over the previous week, several times in the day, etc) As regards to gym - you need to identify if there is anything you are doing that is not good for BP - aerobic exercise is good, but isotonic exercises (weight lifting) can raise BP; sometimes, in well-equipped gyms, we are tempted to do bending and stretching exercises with small amounts of weight and without realizing we are doing a component of isotonic exercise. Also, do take a closer look at your diet - salt comes in many shapes and sizes and we may be missing something there as well. Apart from that, medications do have their role, and your treating doctor would be the best judge.
