Tips for removing kidney stones: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Pls send your usg report becoz medication for stones depends upon size number and location of stones and can be given after usg.

Apart from medications, you need to follow a strict low protein diet in order to bring down your creatinine levels. The normal creatinine level for adult is 0.5-1.2 mg/dl, and kidney disease patients should pay attention to their creatinine level. Once their creatinine level is higher than the normal level, they need to have effective treatment to lower it. In this article, we will introduce some common foods that can help decrease creatinine level. Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine, which is an important part of muscles, and creatinine is mainly removed from blood by kidneys. When the kidneys are damaged, the kidney function will fail to work well, and the creatinine level cant be excreted promptly. Creatinine level is often a sign of severe kidney damage. When the creatinine level is higher than the normal level, it means less than 50% kidney function for kidney disease patients. Cabbage, lettuce, garlic, onion, omega 3 fatty acid rich foods, cucumbers are best foods. Restrict non veg, and protein rich foods.

Has he got his blood sugar, Urine for glucose? Ask him to do exercise for muscle of the urinary bladder (to hold urine which tightens the muscles of urinary bladder for few seconds and slowly release the tension or the hold). Do it initially for 1-2 times a day, then gradually increase the frequency upto 5-6 times a day. Revert me back.

3 Causes of Acute Kidney Failure!

DNB (Nephrology), MD, MBBS
Nephrologist, Delhi
3 Causes of Acute Kidney Failure!

You're said to suffer from the problem of acute kidney failure if your kidneys suddenly stop working and lose their ability to eliminate waste materials including excess fluids and salts from the blood. The condition usually develops quickly over a few days or even a few hours. When this happens, waste materials accumulate in your blood, disrupting the chemical balance of your bloodstream.

So, what causes this problem?

Acute kidney failure can occur because of any one of these reasons:

1. A drop or slowdown of blood flow to the kidneys - Adequate blood circulation to the kidneys is of great importance as without it the kidneys may end malfunctioning. If blood flow to the kidney is hampered, a part of or the entire kidney may die. You may suffer from acute kidney failure if blood flow to the kidneys gets impaired due to conditions like

  • Heavy blood loss
  • Sepsis (body's inflammatory reaction to an infection, which can bring about organ failure, tissue damage, and death)
  • Injury
  • Use of certain drugs
  • Dehydration
  • Burns
  • Heart disease

2. Urinary obstructions - A sudden blockage that hampers your kidney's ability to eliminate urine can also bring about acute kidney failure. When this happens, it leads to a build up of toxins in the body, causing an overload of the kidneys. Conditions that bring about this urinary obstruction include:

3. Disease within the kidneys - Even instances of clotting within the blood vessels of the kidneys can lead to acute kidney failure. This is because if the movement of blood cells within the blood vessels gets hampered, kidneys are not able to filter out toxins from the body. The conditions and diseases that may cause clotting, and subsequently damage to the kidneys include:

  • Scleroderma (an autoimmune disease that affects connective tissues and skin)
  • Build-up of cholesterol deposits
  • Glomerulonephritis (an inflammatory condition of the kidney's ball-shaped structures called glomeruli)
  • Hemolytic uremic syndrome (a condition that occurs due to untimely death of red blood cells)
  • Lupus (a disorder of the body's immune system that brings about damage to the body's own organs and tissues). If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a nephrologist.

Let's go step by step. First tell me since how. Many years he is hypertensive and diabetic? which medicines is he taking for same? last 2 months blood pressure readings and sugar status? hba1c report? serum creatinine is 1.7? it might be due to long standing diabetes. Get done fundus examination by ophthalmologist also to see effect of diabetes on eyes and check urine albumin level too. Revert back with all these and I will advise you what to do to slow progression of this kidney involvement in diabetes and tune up his medications.

There is no need to go for fb removal. You have to treat prostate first. You can take a trial of urimax-d for few days if your cardiologist allow you. Or you can get turp done after holding aspirin and clopidogrel for few days. For gb polyp you have to get usg abdomen done regularly at every 3-6 mnths and if size increases upto 10 mm or it increases in number (more than 3) then laproscopic removal should be planned.

Blood in Urine - 10 Reasons Behind It!

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, DNB (Urology)
Urologist, Ghaziabad
Blood in Urine - 10 Reasons Behind It!

Blood in urine, medically known as Hematuria is not usually a cause of concern, but it can translate into an adverse condition if left unevaluated. The kidneys and other structures in the urinary tracts such as urethra (tube connecting the bladder to the outer part of the body); bladder (that stores the urine) and ureters (tube joining the bladder to the kidney) are the sources of blood flow to the urine. Hematuria can be accompanied by symptoms such as discharge of tea-colored, brownish-red or pink colored urine due to the presence of red blood cells, traces of which can only be detected under the microscope.

Underlying causes behind this disorder might be:

  1. Urinary tract infection is where the bacteria enter the body through the urethra and begin to proliferate in the bladder.
  2. Kidney infections (pyelonephritis) is when bacteria infiltrate into the kidneys from the bloodstream or travel up from the uterus to the kidneys.
  3. A kidney or a bladder stone is marked by the minerals in the concentrated urine precipitating out and molding into crystals that deposit on the bladder or kidney walls.
  4. Enlarged prostate is a condition in which the prostate gland, that is situated just below the bladder surrounding the upper part of the urethra, starts growing as males head towards their middle age.
  5. Kidney disease such as glomerulonephritis causes swelling of the kidneys, thus disrupting the filtering system.
  6. Bladder, kidney and prostate cancer are also possible causes.
  7. Hereditary disorders such as sickle cell anemia (a hereditary disease of the red blood cells in the hemoglobin) can also pose as a cause behind this disorder.
  8. Kidney injury as a result of heavy blows, accidents or injuries sustained while playing a spot can also contribute to this condition.
  9. Medications such as penicillin or the anti-cancer drug ‘cyclophosphamide’
  10. Strenuous physical exercises like intense workout or running may also result in Hematuria.

Treatments:
There is no fixed cure for Hematuria; instead the doctor would work on treating the repressed conditions behind the symptoms, such as prescribing antibiotics to heal the urinary tract infection or a medicine to shrink and normalize the enlarged prostate or administer a shock wave therapy to destroy the kidney or bladder stones. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Four months passed turp. Urine is clear. Urine flow is slow. Urine passes slowly. Penis is not standing. Sir suggest me.
Urine being slow may be due to preexhisting effect on urinary bladder due to prostate before surgery or may be due to other causes like urethral stricture or urinary infection. Uroflowmetry and urine routine test will help in finding the cause.
