I want glowing and fair skin. For this I have been started drinking aloe-vera and amla juice with water every morning empty stomach. So is this sufficient for me to get glowing and fairy skin?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

I want glowing and fair skin. For this I have been started drinking aloe-vera and amla juice with water every morning...
Everyone has a favourite face cream or treatment, but beautiful skin starts with nourishment from within. Older cells are constantly shed and replaced by younger ones and a steady supply of micronutrients is essential to support this rapid growth. Eat the correct balance of foods and you'll feed your skin the vital nutrients it needs to help it stay soft, supple and blemish-free. Eat your five-a-day Fruit and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that help to protect skin from the cellular damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are caused by smoking, pollution and sunlight and can cause wrinkling and age spots. Eat a rainbow of colourful fruit and vegetables and aim for at least five portions a day. Betacarotene, found in pumpkin, carrots and sweet potatoes, and lutein, found in kale, papaya and spinach are potent antioxidants, important for normal skin cell development and healthy skin tone. Vitamin C Vitamin C is also a super antioxidant. It is needed for a strong immune system, radiant skin and helps blemishes heal properly. The best sources are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes. They all help to produce collagen that strengthens the capillaries that supply the skin. Cut out crash diets Repeatedly losing and regaining weight can take its toll on your skin, causing sagging, wrinkles and stretch marks. Crash diets are often short in essential vitamins too. Over long periods of time this type of dieting will reflect on your skin. Stock up on selenium Selenium is a powerful antioxidant. It works alongside other antioxidants such as vitamins E and C and is essential for the immune system. Studies suggest that a selenium-rich diet can help to protect against skin cancer, sun damage and age spots. One way to boost your intake is to eat Brazil nuts. Just four nuts will provide the recommended daily amount (RDA). Mix Brazil nuts with other seeds rich in vitamin E as a snack or salad sprinkle. Other good sources are fish, shellfish, eggs, wheatgerm, tomatoes and broccoli. Vitamin E Vitamin E protects skin from oxidative (cell) damage and supports healthy skin growth. Foods high in vitamin E include almonds, avocado, hazelnuts, pine nuts and sunflower and corn oils. Drink up Skin needs moisture to stay flexible. Even mild dehydration will cause your skin to look dry, tired and slightly grey. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day - all fluids count towards your daily allowance, but water is the best. If you work in an office, keep a large bottle of water on your desk to remind you to drink. Herbal, caffeine-free teas are good too. Try to avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, both can age the skin.

I am a 25 male. I am suffering from gradual hair loss and my hairline is receding. Please help.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I am a 25 male. I am suffering from gradual hair loss and my hairline is receding. Please help.
Hi. Let me you about hairfall. As per me, hairfall are of 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or hairloss- hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, insufficient sleep, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smooking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga/ gym teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Also, take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day for 1 month and revert me back.

Hello, you had your withdrawal bleed post ipill intake on 18th, ruling out any pregnancy. However delay in cycle presently is a known side effect of ipill. Please wait for another week for menses to resume if pregnancy has already been ruled out by a urine pregnancy test.

I am a 30 years old male. I feel drowsy and tired when I climb stairs of more then 3 floors. My weight is around 78kg and height is 5.4 feet. Please advice what should I do?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye. Thanks for the query. Maintaining body weight is not a one time effort that you try, succeed or fail or drop the actions that take you there. You are what you eat. Your weight is nothing but a balance of how much you eat and how much you burn or exercise. Understanding this art of balance will make it easy to maintain your body weight. Walking, swimming, strength training as well as eating are all calorie burning processes. Along with this if you eat sensibly; then you will see the scales move. There is no short cut to losing weight. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals.     Reduce your main meals by a small amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called fad, crash diets, medicines, pills or supplements will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, lose that fat not muscle mass.

It may not be related with your hypertension. But why should you miss the anti-hypertension tablets at the first place. Please ask your doctor to check you thoroughly to check that the blood clots in the nose is not a major problem. You should adapt an active lifestyle so that the BP remains well controlled with minimum medical support. Do Yoga and pranayam as it is very effective to control all types of diseases in a natural way through its healing process.

Hi firstly believe that you have the power to solve your problem. Right now your bmi is 32.8 which comes in obese category. And definitely you need to worry. But worry should lead to immediate action. Next point to note is that'weight' is not the problem. The problem is'habits' which lead to weight gain. Poor eating habits coupled with no exercise. So if you change your habits, then the weight wil change. Start doing 45 mins exercise daily. Cut down fried foods and junk food. Cut down oil, ghee, butter etc. Start taking more fruits and cucumber daily. Drink more water. Reduce portion size of meals. Take charge today else tomorrow it will become more difficult. Try it for 20 days and you will see improvement. For further advice you can take private consultations. Stay fit stay healthy health is wealth.
