All these asspects can be achieved by adopting 3 goods in life THINK GOOD,EAT GOOD,SLEEP GOOD. Maintain a good health by adopting 3 steps in life 1.BALANCED DIET 2.EARLY MORNING BRISK MORNING WALK for 30 minutes and 10 minutes evening walk after Dinner 3.DRINK 6-8 Glasse of water daily. As 60% of our body is made of water, it acts as a carrier of essential nutrients inside our body. Loosing as little as 5% of body's weight as water can cause headache, fatigue and lower your muscle strength. To stay healthy, an adult should drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Balanced Diet= 60% Carbohydrates + 20% Fats + 20% Proteins 1. Carbohydrates: Our main source of energy. Stored in liver and muscles. Carbohydrates are used the most by our body duringexercise. Hence, it is important for people who exercise regularly to consume a diet rich in carbohydrates. (a) Instant/rapid carbohydrates energy sources: Banana, Milk, Sweets, Sugarcane juice. (b) Slow carbohydrates energy sources: Beans, Bread, Cereals, Potato, Pulses, Rice. 2. Proteins: Essential for growth, repair of muscle, skin, hair and body tissues. Protein deficiency leads to low immunity, hairfall, feeling of tiredness. Proteins are not stored in our body as any excess protein is converted to energy or fat. Hence, a person requires protein intake every day. When the body does not get enough carbohydrates to fuel itself, it falls back on protein bank. That is why people who follow starvation diets or go on fasting lose muscle tissue. (a) Major protein sources: Egg white(white portion), Milk, Soybeans/Soymilk, Fish, Cheese, Tofu. (b) Other protein sources: Beans with wheat, Nuts, Curd, Yogurt (Dahi). 3. Fats: Required and healthy when taken in small amounts. Excess fat leads to weight gain, increase in bad cholesterol (LDL) and heartproblems (a) Major fats sources: Egg yolk (Yellow portion), Avocados, Whole Milk, Butter, Cheese, Nuts. (b) Other fats sources: Corn, Vegetable/Olive oil, Biscuits, Flaxseeds(San Beej). 4. Vitamins and Minerals: Critical for normal functioning of organs and processes within our body. They do not provide energy directly but work behind the scenes to break down food into energy. 5. Fiber: It helps retain water and in making our stools softer to avoid constipation. Intake should be 25 to 35 grams a day. 6. Calories: A measure of how much energy food or drink contains. On an average, a man needs around 2,000 calories a day and a woman 1700 calories a day to maintain his weight and good health. Number varies by person depending upon weight, age and how active the lifestyle is. 7. Guideline: Each day have 3 main meals, 2 snacks, 5 pieces of fruit and at least 1 glass of milk.

Hi my brother addicted to cough syrup cortex past 7 yrs. Daily he took 200 ml which is 2 100 ml bottles. Pls tell me ...
First of all, he needs to want to give it up. All your efforts will end in vain if he himself does not want to give it up. You can, however, talk to him about the dangers and convince him to want to quit. Codeine addiction is worsened by increasing tolerance levels for the drug. If he is having a serious addiction and he cannot quit its use, he will have to admit himself to a rehabilitation center and go through their program for a complete recovery. This type of treatment is ideal because it takes him away from the influences of people and circumstances that he has gotten conditioned to and will make it easier in a different geographical location. When he comes out of the center he must continue with addiction counseling for three years at least before being free of the enslavement. He will also need to attend NA meetings regularly and get a lot of support from other users who are also recovering. He will need to make some lifestyle changes and work on the stress that is normally the reason most youngsters get addicted to codeine. There is also the oral issue, the rigid value system, the genetic factors, and the script issue that has to be worked upon with the counselor. He will need to start regular vigorous exercise, sleep well, and start on a healthy diet. He must follow a tight time schedule with interesting and productive activities. The counselor will also teach him new ways of finding joy without the use of chemicals. He should socialize with people, join new groups, attend conferences, meetings, seminars etc. to be involved with other important activities in his neighborhood. He will need to go for a thorough medical checkup and determine that there was no serious damage to his body because of the abuse.

How to improve stamina while smoking & does our body get effected by taking fat burners?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye, Thanks for the query. Smoking increases your risk of cancer, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, eye disorders such as cataracts, rheumatoid arthritis, dental problems and stroke. That's because the substances in cigarettes can damage your organs and increase your body's level of free radicals, compounds that harm DNA and cellular tissue. There aren't any foods that can prevent or undo the effects of smoking but some tips can help the body combat the oxidation load to some extent. Have a Cup of green or herbal tea. The antioxidants can inhibit the activity of free radicals to some extent. Black grapes, blackberries and other berries are other good sources too. Smokers are more likely to become deficient in vitaminC. Include plenty of vitamin C-rich produce in your diet daily, such as tomatoes, berries like strawberries, kiwi, bell peppers, indian gooseberry, guava, pineapple, and all types of citrus fruits. Smokers must consume vitamin E rich foods, as it could lower their risk of developing heart disease in the future. Increasing intake of foods high in vitamin E eg Wheat germ and wheat germ oil are the best sources. Nuts, vegetable oils like ricebran, olive or canola oil, seeds, eggs and leafy greens are also rich in vitamin E. Cruciferous vegetables can help provide anticancerious nutrients. Chota gobi, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes and bok choy all belong in the cruciferous vegetable family. Avoid junk foods. Avoid processed, packeted and proprietary foods. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Fat burners are of no use if your diet is not good and you are not exercising.

Henna is very good for smooth and shiny hair. Hair colours on the other hand make hair dry. If you want for style purpose, you can choose hair colour. If colour is not a big issue here, henna is better for the hair texture. Hair colour will need a lot of care then after.

Dear lybrate-user, sometimes urine test fails to detect pregnancy at an early stage. You can wait for a couple of days more say 7-10 days and then repeat the urine test and also do an ultrasound lower abdomen. For early detection you can get a small blood test done: qualitative hcg blood test, this can be done even today.

Hi i am 23 I have Pcos and last in 2014 December I conceived via hmg amd hcg shots but later during 7th month lost my pregnancy due to IUGR. Also I am having thyroid (normal now) Again I am trying to conceive. My doctor gave me clomifene citrate from day 3 to 7. Hmg injections on day 3 and 5. On day 11 I was having a 16mm follicle in right ovary and 19mm ovulated follicle in left. (Ovulation occurred from left ovary without hcg) I want to know if 16mm follicle will rupture at the same time or within 24hrs of each other? My doctor said there are chances of 16mm follicle to rupture till next day. Is it possible?

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Exactly it cannot be said that when it will rupture, it is possible that it may rupture the next day or on the same day. But in both the cases there are chances of pregnancy so you need not to worry for that. If you are going for iui then do it twice for consecutive days, or going for natural then then regular intercourse for 3-4 days.
