Your Cholesterol is high. You should start with lifestyle measures along with medicines and a few tests like BP, Echo, LFT, TSH. In lifestyle measures you should 1) Exercise daily for 40 mins 2) Diet change (take a detailed diet consult) 3) Diabetes Control if you are diabetic. You can initially try lifestyle changes for 4-6 weeks then repeat cholesterol levels if still high, consult a local cardiologist to start low dose statins.

Hello. If you are not habituated to this kind of routine or when there is some internal problem in your body, it responds like this only. Management: Always keep yourself well hydrated even in between the walks. As dehydration leads to cramps and muscular spasm. Maintain daily intake of healthy food specially of fruits, green vegetables, nuts, flaxseeds which contains omega-3 fatty acids for healthy tissues, milk, milk products and eggs which are supposed to be complete food they contain protein, vitamins and minerals which are required for wear and tear. Also, take enough of rest which helps in rejuvenation of whole body! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. - both thrice daily for 4 weeks.

Both are dangerous and life threatening. Reasons and factors leading to both are same. In stroke the blood vessels carrying blood to brain get blocked and in heart attack the blood vessels carrying blood to heart are blocked. Since factors are same, so is the prevention of the diseases.

My son age 5 month 15 days, weight:- 5. 3kg, he had suffered the whole of heart (size-6mm). So what I can do?

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ranchi
Hello thanks for the query the hole in heart can be in the atrial septum known as atrial septal defect (asd) or in the ventricular septum known as ventricular septum defect (vsd). The future outcome depends on multiple factors like type of septal defect, ventricular size and contractility and pulmonary artery pressure. We can wait for 6 mm asd if not causing any hemodynamic overload while 6 mm vsd may need medical treatment and closure as this may cause recurrent respiratory illnesses. The hole can be closed by a button through a wire or may need open heart surgery. This also depends on the location. So I request you to give history in detail like weight, growth, feeding difficulty, frequency of respiratory illness and to attach the report so that I better able to help you out. Regards.

Heart disease begins in youth

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Heart disease begins in youth
Autopsy studies of young people who died in accidents have shown that by the late teens, heart blockages, the kind of lesions that cause heart attacks and strokes are in the process of developing.

The best opportunity to prevent heart disease is to focus on children and adolescents and start the preventive process early. More than a third of children and adolescents are overweight or obese.

The first signs that men are at higher risk of heart disease than women appear during the adolescent years despite the fact that boys lose fat and gain muscle in adolescence, while girls add body fat.

Between the ages of 11 and 19, levels of triglycerides, a type of blood fat associated with cardiovascular disease, increases in the boys and drops in the girls. Levels of hdl cholesterol, the" good" kind that helps keep arteries clear, go down in boys but rise in girls. Blood pressure increases in both, but significantly more in boys. Insulin resistance, a marker of cardiovascular risk, which is lower in boys at age 11, rises until the age of 19 years.

Any protection that the young women have for cardiovascular protection can be wiped out by obesity and hence obesity in girls should be handled on priority.

Hello Dr. My triglyceride level is 160 and cholesterol level is 100. Lab owner told me that you have low cholesterol. I also feel fatigue amd I have low libido. I m 22 years old. What should I eat to make normal that numbers.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hello Dr. My triglyceride level is 160 and cholesterol level is 100. Lab owner told me that you have low cholesterol....
Normally triglycerides levels in bliid should be less than 150 but you have 160 means that your triglycerides are borderline high------------now cholestrol is 100, now what type of cholestrol it is, whether total or ldl-----if your total cholestrol says 100, then it is normal as it should normally be less than 200 and if your ldl says 100, then it is borderline normal as ldl in blood should not be more than 100--------------------your fatique and low libido can be due to your weight problem-----please make the facts clear-----------------

My Mom is having headaches at certain intervals of time. She does have diabetes and cholesterol. The doctors say its because of her sugar levels that varies at times, but I think that is not the cause. Because she gets these headaches even after regular walks, proper medication and controlled diet.

You are correct .The headache may be of different cause. Get her BP cjhecked daily at home and when the headache occurs get an eye Dr. -opthalmologist consultation since diabetics are more prone for glaucoma, cataracts as well as Retinal detachment yearly eye exam with a senior Dr. is needed. If these are normal get a ENT Dr. consult. Change her diet and lifestyle If you want specific dietary and lifestyle advise for sugar and cholesterol control take a consult.
