Sir. I am 64years old since 2010 suffering from proteinurea. Recently creatinine level is 1.8. Bun is 24mg. I am diabetic since 18years. And hypertension since 3 months. I am having single kidney by birth. Now I am using nephrosafe capsule and ramiprill h5mg. Please give. Me advice.

My father has diabetes of 235. 4 mg/dl after meal and 151 mg/dl before meal what should he eat and what should he avoid and also what should be his daily routine to control the diabetes. His age is 53 years and he is losing his weight. He lost 5 kgs in 6 months without doing any any diet or exercise.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When blood glucose is high, kidneys are not able to retain it. So a large quantity is lost in the urine (Glycosuria). This causes exhaustion and weight loss. So to improve health it is absolutely essential to control; diabetes very effectively with FBG<100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c % <7. This needs appropriate drug treatment. Then restricted diet and regular exercise are also equally important. Following things with regard food have to be kept in mind: 1) Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and all foods made out of maida. 2) No aerated sweetened drinks (colas), no foods with sweetcorn syrup content. 3) Should increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day), 4) Use whole grain flour for roti and chapati 5) Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Plus exercise for at least 1 hour a day. If you have any doubts please come back. It is better if you give all details like current FBG, PP & HbA1c%, dietary habits, extent of execise and come in a private conversation then I will be able to guide specifically. Thanks.

Sir, I am feeling little weakness in my right leg for sometimes. If stand for 30 min I feel so weak. I am working. I do not really feel any pain but it's weakness please help me.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

The food handlers in your hostel or the kitchen might be contaminated. Take food samples and get the food handlers treated for Amoebiasis, or any other infection. make the kitchen hygienic . You also get your stool samples and immunity checked for recurrent diarrhoea

Hi everyone. Today i'll give you a few health tips to have a good healthy set of teeth and gums.
1. Brush your teeth twice daily.
2. Floss your teeth if you feel food is stuck in between your teeth.
3. Visit your dentist at least once in 6 months and get all your small decays of teeth filled and your mouth cleaned.
Cleaning your teeth doesn't loosen your teeth or affect your gums. This is a common misconception people have. In fact cleaning removes all the tartar accumulated over your teeth which has caused bone loss around your teeth so you feel teeth are loose. But in fact teeth will become stronger if you get that tartar out as the bone will heal and give better support to your teeth.
4. Avoid eating sticky sweet food at night. This will encourage more decaying of teeth.
5. Rinse your mourn daily with a mouth wash prescribed by your dentist.

Teeth should not be used for opening cold drink caps kind of things, its not the function of teeth, such habits put undue pressure on teeth these are not good habits. Use opener from now onwards. And for bad breath as you have already undergone scaling and polishing follow proper brushing techniqe and healthy oral hygiene practice. Visit your nearest dentist for demo of proper brushing technique and other oral hygiene habits. Even then if problem persists make sure you are not suffering from any other underlying disease since few underlying disease can also cause bad breath.

I am 17 years old and I want to increase my height. I do many exercises and also do running and hanging but none of them works can you please help me?

Hi. As height can be gained till 21yrs. Of age in males and 18yrs. In females, so you do have 5yrs. More to grow further! start taking homoeopathic medicines which are safe to take without any side-effects - bakson's hite-aid and five phos. - both thrice daily and thuja 1m/ one dose once a week - take them for 4 months. Management: take milk and milk products which contains more calcium. More of protein (for cell multiplication) like pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts, flaxseeds, non-veg, eggs, etc. Also, don't forget to take green vegetables, yellow veggies and fruits, seasonal fruits, salads, etc. Do skip rope daily, initially 10-20 times later gradually and slowly increase the frequency as per your capacity. Drinking at least between 10 and 14 - 8oz. Glasses of water every day is another great way to prevent hair loss. Water helps wash off toxins from your body. I am suffering knee pain so I can't set and I can't run and not fast move leg so I am trouble.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).
