Please give syp Paracetamol for fever if it is more that 100 f. Don't worry Eruption of teeth is natural process. You can apply Zytee gel on gums to reduce pain. Give him something firm to chew upon. Like a carrot or rusk etc.

BHMS, Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Medicine

Hello, please give her vit d 60, 000 stat every week for a month. In children calcium balance is important any discrepancy in calcium level leads to cold. We would start a low dose calcium (homoeopathic med) if complaint persist after a month.

It appears if your child is using left hand more than right hand that is giving impression of weakness of right hand. It is just possible that your baby may become left handed. Even then give message and active & passive movements to rt hand beside good nutritious diet.

Babies fed on breat milk are known to have definitive advantage over those who are formulae fed. Anyway, small kids are know to suffer five to six episodes of viral respiratory infections in a year. You need not to worry for this. Just give him everything you eat at home without any restrictions.

Crp is an acute phase reactant which rise in infection. To rule out condition we need to investigate further and a detailed review of signs and symptoms. Kindly ask in private.

My sister's baby is one weeks old and she cant breast feed the baby as nipple is getting injured. Can I give my breast milk to little baby? my baby is one yr old.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Nipples getting injured because of faulty latch. Push the baby's head little closer to breast, so that nipple goes beyond gums of baby, there by putting pressure on areola and resulting good flow of breast milk. Use nipple shield for a while till injury heals. Hope this helps.

I am looking for the cost of recommended vaccination after the age of 5 years of a child. I am looking for injection cost for MMR2, Varicella 2 etc.

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), Pediatric Gastroenterology
Pediatrician, Delhi
It is difficult to mention the cost of these vaccinations. It also depends who is the vaccine supplier in your town, and which pediatrician is procuring the vaccine from whom. At 5 years, you just have to give DPT booster which is also available at every government Hospital. So also MMR2. Varicella is available at the MRP approx 1600. (Varilix)

Common School Related Problems In Children!

M.Sc - Applied Psychology, M.Phil - Psychology
Psychologist, Lucknow

Ups and downs at school are part of life for many young people. A good relationship with your child’s school and teachers can help you head off problems. If school problems come up,  it’s important that you quickly recognize and address them.
Problems at school can show up as poor academic performance, lack of motivation for school, loss of interest in school work, or poor relationships with peers or teachers.
School difficulties range from minor to severe, might be very short-lived or last for longer.
Common signs of school problems-

  •  Drop in marks in one or more subjects.
  •  Lack of engagement, connection or involvement with school – for example, your child might not be interested in extracurricular activities or have very few friends.
  • Showing embarrassment or discomfort when talking about school.School difficulties range from minor to severe, might be very short-lived or last for longer.
    Common signs of school problems-
  • Refusing to talk with you about school, or rarely talking about school with family or friends.
  • Never or rarely doing homework, or rarely talking about homework.
  • Having low confidence or lacking self-esteem – your child might say she is ‘dumb’, ‘stupid’ or not as clever as her friends.
  • Being kept back at lunch time or the end of the school day.
  • Finding excuses not to go to school or skipping school without your knowledge.
  • Being bored with school work or not feeling challenged enough – your child might say he’s not learning anything new.
  • Having attention or behavior problems.
  • Being bullied or bullying others.

Sometimes, problems at school will be easy to spot, and your child will willingly talk to you about them.

But some children hide problems from their parents, teachers and peers. They might copy homework, pretend to be sick during important tests, or not bring reports home. This can make it very difficult for you to pick up on a problem. Sometimes even teachers might not spot the clues – especially if your child is absent a lot.

Causes of school problems

  1. Behavioral or developmental difficulties.
  2. Poor communication skills.
  3. Poor social skills.
  4. Difficulty with listening, concentrating or sitting still.
  5. Disliking, or not feeling connected to, the school culture or environment.
  6. Disliking school subjects, not liking the choice of subjects, or not feeling challenged by the work
  7. Not getting along with teachers or other students at school.
  8. Parents who aren’t involved in their child’s education.
  9. Family problems such as relationship breakdowns.
  10. Competing demands on time, such as extracurricular activities.
  11. Skipping school because of any of the reasons listed above.
