Hello, perhaps you can benefit from some western herbs. I am listing some for you: CHASTE BERRY: The best known hormone balancing herb for women, Chaste berry helps to regulate the female gynecological system. It works by normalizing the secretions of the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and ovaries, which then appropriately signal to balance the endocrine system. Note – This herb is not recommended if you are taking any fertility drug. It should not be consumed during pregnancy. OTHER HERBS: Some other herbs you can try to regain healthy menstruation: Holy basil (Tulsi), Black cohosh, licorice (Mulethi) root, turmeric, and Evening primerose oil. (If you are on medications, always consult your doctor first). DIETARY CHANGES: Drink carrot juice, aloe vera juice, grape juice. Add ginger, cinnamon, pumpkin seeds, green (unripe) papaya, sesame seeds (with Jaggery), Apple Cider Vinegar and wheat grass to your diet. From the last two years my mother is suffering from varicose vein. What shall I do.?

Self-care such as exercising, losing weight, not wearing tight clothes, elevating your legs, and avoiding long periods of standing or sitting can ease pain and prevent varicose veins from getting worse. Shedding excess pounds takes unnecessary pressure off your veins. What you eat can help, too. Follow a low-salt diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian to prevent swelling caused from water retention. Compression stockings can also be prescribed based on your condition do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Genital Tuberculosis - Know Everything About It!

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics & Gynecology, Fellowship in Infertility (IVF Specialist)
Gynaecologist, Aurangabad
Genital Tuberculosis - Know Everything About It!

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection triggered by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacterium. Mainly attacking the lungs, the bacterial infection can be life-threatening with serious complications. The condition can also affect other parts and organs of the body, including the genital tract. Genital Tuberculosis is a medical condition where the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis attacks the genital tract. The other genital organs such as the testes, prostate gland, ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, vulva, urinary bladder, cervix, as well as the vagina, may be equally affected by the dangerous infection with severe consequences. As per a survey, incidences of genital tuberculosis were not very common in India until few years, but the incidences have increased, affecting approximately 9% of the total population.

Mode of Spread of Genital Tuberculosis

Genital tuberculosis can affect any person irrespective of their sexes. The infectious is known to be contagious and can spread through the following possible means

  1. In some people, the infection can initially attack other body parts and then gradually spread to the genital tract. For example, prolonged and untreated tuberculosis of the lungs may trigger genital tuberculosis in females.
  2. The bacterial infection can also spread from an infected person through their nasal droppings, cough (in the case of pulmonary tuberculosis).
  3. Being in close physical proximity (such as shaking hands, sharing food or even sexual intercourse) to a person suffering from tuberculosis can also spread the infection.

Symptoms of Genital Tuberculosis:

There are no characteristic symptoms or early signs associated with Genital Tuberculosis. In fact, in many cases, the infection is said to be latent where the bacterial attack will not result in any subsequent infection. However, a person with Genital Tuberculosis may complain of the following complications.

  • Pain in the pelvic region.
  • Bleeding may be observed after having sex.
  • Menstrual problems, such as irregular periods, heavy vaginal discharge (often blood stained). In some women, the infection left untreated can cause the menses to stop completely, making it a traumatizing experience.
  • Women with genital tuberculosis may find it difficult to conceive (when the condition affects the fallopian tube, ovaries, and the uterus).

It is needless to say that if any of the mentioned symptoms persist for long, waste no time and consult a physician at the earliest. Timely medical intervention may help to alleviate some of the harmful consequences associated with the condition.

Diagnosis and Treatment

The diagnosis of genital tuberculosis include

  • A tuberculin skin test.
  • The doctor may also recommend an examination of the menstrual blood to understand the condition better.
  • An ultrasound of the pelvic area, cervical smear analysis or endometrial curettage can also be used in the diagnosis.
  • Laparoscopic as well as an endoscopic study of the genital organs for a more accurate diagnosis.

Treatment:

The treatment for genital tuberculosis involves the administration of anti-TB drugs (in two phases as per DOTS initiative).

In the first stage, three anti-TB drugs are given to the patient over a span of 2 months. The next stage includes administration of at least two anti-TB drugs continued over a span of 4-10 months.

My son (7 years) is adhd and mild auotium and taking acepta10 (1tab. At morning and half in the evening) and neurocetum (5 ml thrice a day). Still he is unable to concentrate in studies. Kindly advise any change in treatment.

Hello; first you have to stop giving him neurocetum or similar named syrup you are giving him. What is your son's weight & height? c. Atomoxetine (acepta) is a very good medication & we can increase its dose depending on your sons responses like studies, behavior in class etc. In addition, there are other good medications like methylphenidate, clonidine also which can be prescribed if required. Do revert back for further help. Good luck.

Overall, morning erections are secondary to the timing of REM sleep and the physiological processes associated with this stage of sleep for men. In fact, morning wood is completely normal — a lack of it may actually suggest a problem related to erectile dysfunction. A study published in The Urologic Clinics of North America noted NPT monitoring remains the best single non-invasive examination to distinguish between organic from psychogenic impotence.

My mom is suffering from diabetes from last 5 years. Her age is 44. She don't like to consume drug, she do not follow prescription of medication. She want a natural diet that should help her in diabetes control in natural way any diet any exercise?

My mom is suffering from diabetes from last 5 years. Her age is 44. She don't like to consume drug, she do not follow...
Mr. Lybrate-user, if she has confirmed diabetes then there is no way of controlling that without any drugs either oral or insulin injections. Looking at her height and weight she has a bmi of 30.07 kgs/m2, suggesting she has grade 1 obesity. This itself can upset her blood glucose levels. If she brings her weight down to 60 kg, then her sugar levels can come down considerably, still medications are required. If refuses to take medicines, then long term serious side effects of diabetes will affect her early. Uncontrolled high blood sugar causes damage to eyes - retina leading to blindness, damage to kidney causing kidney failure, damage to small and large blood vessels and nerves leading to ulcers on foot and loss of limbs, affects blood supply to heart causing heart attacks, so it her choice whether she wants to live a normal healthy life by taking proper medicines or invite all problems mentioned above. You may talk to her. Thanks for the question.
