Ringworm

MBBS, DDV
Dermatologist, Mumbai

Tinea corporis refers to ringworm of the trunk, legs, or arms. Different fungi cause tinea corporis in different parts of the world. It's common for this infection to originate in the feet or nails, then spread to other body parts. It may spread to the:

  • feet,
  • scalp,
  • groin, or
  • nails.

When fungus affects the skin of the body, it often produces the round spots of classic ringworm, which is characterized by a red ring of scaly skin that grows outward as the infection spreads. Though children are especially susceptible to catching ringworm, it can affect adults as well.

Acute and Chronic Ringworm of the Body

Tinea corporis can be acute or chronic. When acute, the fungus causes suddenly appearing, itchy, red patches that may fill with pus and spread rapidly. When chronic, tinea corporis spreads by slightly inflamed rashes more slowly, and tends to appear in body folds. Widespread chronic tinea corporis is harder to treat and is more likely to reappear.

I often face some problem in my chin. Sometimes when I eat something or chew something, suddenly a sprain in my jaw appears and it gives a lot of pain. What should I do?

It can be a problem of tmj. Common symptoms include: •Pain or tenderness in your face, jaw joint area, neck and shoulders, and in or around the ear when you chew, speak, or open your mouth wide •Problems when you try to open your mouth wide •Jaws that get" stuck" or" lock" in the open- or closed-mouth position •Clicking, popping, or grating sounds in the jaw joint when you open or close your mouth or chew. This may or may not be painful. •A tired feeling in your face •Trouble chewing or a sudden uncomfortable bite -- as if the upper and lower teeth are not fitting together properly •Swelling on the side of your face You may also have toothaches, headaches, neck aches, dizziness, earaches, hearing problems, upper shoulder pain, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Home Treatments for TMD Home Treatments for TMD There are things you can do on your own to help relieve TMD symptoms. Your doctor may suggest you try some of these remedies together. •Use moist heat or cold packs. Apply an ice pack to the side of your face and temple area for about 10 minutes. Do a few simple jaw stretches (if your dentist or physical therapist OKs them). When you’re done, hold a warm towel or washcloth to the side of your face for about 5 minutes. Perform this routine a few times each day. •Eat soft foods. Add yogurt, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, soup, scrambled eggs, fish, cooked fruits and vegetables, beans, and grains to your menu. Cut foods into small pieces so you chew less. Skip hard, crunchy foods (like pretzels and raw carrots), chewy foods (like caramels and taffy), and thick or large bites that require you to open wide. •Avoid extreme jaw movements. Keep yawning and chewing (especially gum or ice) to a minimum and don’t yell, sing, or do anything that forces you to open wide. •Don't rest your chin on your hand. Don’t hold the phone between your shoulder and ear. Practice good posture to reduce neck and facial pain. •Keep your teeth slightly apart as often as you can. This will relieve pressure on your jaw. Put your tongue between your teeth to control clenching or grinding during the day. •Learn relaxation techniques to help loosen up your jaw. Ask your dentist if you need physical therapy or massage. Consider stress reduction therapy as well as biofeedback. TREATMENT PRESCRIBED BY A DENTIST •Medications. Your dentist can prescribe higher doses of NSAIDs if you need them for pain and swelling. He might suggest a muscle relaxer to relax your jaw if you grind or clench your teeth. Or an anti-anxiety medication to relieve stress, which may bring on TMD. In low doses they can also help reduce or control pain. Muscle relaxants, anti-anxiety drugs, and antidepressants are available by prescription only. •A splint or night guard. These plastic mouthpieces fit over your upper and lower teeth so they don’t touch. They lessen the effects of clenching or grinding and correct your bite by putting your teeth in a more correct position. What’s the difference between them? You wear night guards while you sleep. You use a splint all the time. Your dentist will tell you which type you need. •Dental work. Your dentist can replace missing teeth and use crowns, bridges, or braces to balance the biting surfaces of your teeth or to correct a bite problem. Other Treatments.

Is thyroid and diabetics interrelated? TSH IS >150 WHEREAS T3 AND t4 ARE 0.27 and 23.8 what is the treatment suggested?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Is thyroid and diabetics interrelated? TSH IS >150 WHEREAS T3 AND t4 ARE 0.27 and 23.8 what is the treatment suggested?
Thanks for the query. Diabetes and hypothyroidism are not inter related. They are separate diseases. TSH >150 mU/L is too high. This means there is severe hypothyroidism. Immediate treatment with levothyroxine is needed. Dosage has to be decided based on patients weight, height, TSH level and T4 levels. Plus patient has to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, increase the intake of green leafy vegetables and fruits, exercise daily so as to maintain near normal weight. Thanks.

I am healthy boy but my teeth is yellow color so girls do not like please this problem solution.
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth.

Be energetic never skip breakfast have a balanced diet exercise drink more water dont be stressed cut down the vices surround yourself with cheerful people 1 brown rice rich in manganese, the mineral that helps produce energy from protein and carbs, it will help you maintain high energy all day. Sweet potato high in carbohydrates and loaded with beta-carotene (vitamin a) and vitamin c, these will help fight off midday fatigue. Bonus: kids will love this sweet treat at mealtime. Try them mashed or cut into strips, tossed with a little oil and and baked for a healthier alternative to french fries. 3 honey a spoonful of honey is nature's equivalent of an energy drink. Add a sweet drizzle to anything from breakfast yogurt to afternoon tea. 4. Bananas because they are composed mostly of sugars (glucose, fructose and sucrose) and fiber, bananas are a foolproof energy food. Top them with peanut or almond butter for a well-rounded snack, or slice one into your morning cereal for an extra boost that will keep you going until lunchtime. 5. Apples not only will an apple a day keep the doctor away, it'll also give you a powerful jolt of energy. High in fiber, apples take longer to digest, so they'll give you a more prolonged lift than many other fruit picks. Snack on apples with cheese for an especially effective pick-me-up. 6 oranges high in vitamin c, potassium and folate, this citrus fruit rations out energy steadily over time instead of giving you a quick sugar rush. Peel and eat an orange whole to benefit from the pectin and fiber in the fruit's membranes. 7 spinach an excellent source of iron, a key component of energy production in the body. Eat a spinach salad for lunch and you probably won't experience that afternoon energy slump. 8 beans both a protein and a complex carb, they're a must for both carnivores and vegetarians. Under Eye Dark Circles - Can Stress be the Reason Behind It

Under Eye Dark Circles - Can Stress be the Reason Behind It

Under eye dark circles are a common appearance if you do not get the adequate hours of sleep or if you are subjected to stress over a prolonged period of time. However, if you notice the presence of under eye dark circles even after getting sufficient sleep, that might be a result of crater formation or swollen eyelids.

Causes of under eye dark circles

  1. Hereditary factors and constant exposure to the sun which might lead to an over-secretion of melanin (the pigment responsible for skin coloration).
  2. Dark circles might also occur if you randomly rub or scratch your eyes as an unconscious habit.
  3. Dark circles might also develop due to allergies or because of eczema (skin inflammation).
  4. Dark circles can also occur as a result of contact dermatitis (a condition wherein rashes develop accompanied by severe itching after coming in contact with a foreign substance).
  5. The gradual loosening of skin along with fats and collagen as you grow old can result in dark circles of reddish-blue hue.
  6. Excessive consumption of tobacco and alcohol might also form dark circles under the eyes.

Treatment for under eye dark circles

Under eye dark circles are not a serious medical condition and can be easily eliminated by means of the following procedures:

  1. In order to eradicate dark circles, you can opt for a procedure which combines aqua jet, glycolic peel (which helps to shed the affected skin in the under-eye region and initiate the natural reduction of the dark circles), microcurrent (which keeps the affected region duly hydrated) and associated home ingredients to strengthen the skin around your eyes.
  2. To prevent dark circles, you can also opt for a procedure which revitalizes the under-eye regions with the help of high platelet-containing plasma. The platelets help in the creation of collagen (the building block of the skin) that restores freshness of your skin. This procedure is completely safe as it is a natural one and does not come with any side effect.

Further recommendations

In addition to the aforementioned procedures, you can also use a serum containing soy and rice peptides, yeast protein, hyaluronic acid, and extracts from seaweed.

The pity skin might be due to old chicken pox marks or acne. There are no medicines and application or home remedies to get rid of it as they are not disease but a permanent mark left by a disease. All you can do is peeling treatment from a good skin clinic to lighten it.
