Absolutely, you can control all your imbalances without any medicines. If your hba1c is below 7, there is nothing to worry. Your tsh is just above normal range, but don't make a mistake to start thyroid medicine at this level. The only thing you have to manage is your dirt and lifestyle. 1. Take small meals on regular interval (say 2hrly) 2. Avoid sugar in diet. 3. Avoid fatty, oily, spicy food items. Take light easily digestible food items. 4. Keep your mind happy and relaxed. Start yoga and meditation. For specific diet you may visit any good dietitian.

Mr. lybrate-user, If with current dosge of Insulin blood glucose is not well controlled, then one has to look at diet and insulin dosage closely. First fasting glucose can be targeted by adjusting night insulin dose and food intake. Once that is under control then post breakfast and lunch levels can be looked at. Alternately one can look at adding a drug orally. But for all this I need to know current fasting, PP levels and HbA1c%, dietary habits and extent of exercise being done daily. Plus there has to be regular follow up. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, please understand clearly that diabetes once diagnosed is not curable. Because it is a disease caused either because of deficiency of insulin or resistance to its action or both. So unless drugs which help in producing insulin (oral anti diabetic - modern medicines) or insulin injections are given there is no way of controlling diabetes. So called cures are a falls propaganda. World over a lot of research is going on to find out a cure for this disease, but so far no success. If some one has made such a drug he/ she would be eligible for nobel prize. There are close to 7 crore diabetes mellitus patients in india. Had there been cure possible then things would have been totally different. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, its good to hear that your sugar levels are under control. As you might be aware that diabetes is a progressive disease. It affects gradually all the vital organs of our body if not kept under control in form of micro and macro vascular complications. As your urine - routine test shows presense of protein (known as proteinuria) and you said that your s. Creatinine was also high, I would suggest you to get a usg abdomen & pelvis done to know the cause of the same. Even it would be better if your lab reports can be reviewed as the necessary treatment can be initiated for the same. Thanks.

High blood suagr and pressure can cause changes in kidney. Think of it like the holes of the filter are bif and protiens are leaking out into the urine. He will need to control both sugar and pressure very fast and keep it maintained in normal levels.

Hello, Yes the herbal supplements can be used if one wants to while on treatment for hypothyroidism. As regards the "best diet" a healthy balanced diet is good. One should avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, radish, mustard & coffee. Always use whole grain flour for making chapati & roti. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads. Thanks.

If you are under proper diet plan, exercise and regular medications with a follow up under the supervision of a qualified physician or a diabetologist get blood sugar checked fasting, 1 1/2 hours after heavy morning meal and just before dinner. Show this to your regular physicain. Dosage may be less effective or there may be some accompanied new problem like some infection etc. Leave it to the doctor.

She is suffering from thyroid & her weight increases as due to water in her body.what to do

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

She is suffering from thyroid & her weight increases as due to water in her body.what to do
Pay close attention to your food choice. ·        Eat less carbohydrate food sources like chapatti, rice, noodles, pasta, bread etc as they help in gaining weight and storing fat. ·        While having lunch or dinner eat vegetables and dal to fill your stomach rather eating lots of chapattis or rice. ·        Have a healthy breakfast like poha, idli, upma, plain dosa, oats, dalia or khichdi with vegetables. ·        Eat a balance diet including good quality proteins like: fish, lean chicken and eggs. If you are a vegetarian then include skimmed milk, low fat paneer, butter milk, soy bean or soy milk in your diet. ·        Avoid ghee, butter or vanaspati. Prepare your diet with vegetable oil like sunflower, safflower soybean or olive oil. ·        Eat plenty of salads. ·        Eat fresh fruits including apple, orange, pineapple, papaya, sweet lime, berries, guava, watermelon, mask melon etc. ·        Avoid eating outside junk and fried foods like pizza, pasta, roll, burgers, cakes, chocolates and cookies. ·        Have an early dinner. The earlier the better, giving your system more time to digest the food. ·        Avoid cold drinks/alcohol as they add empty calories to your diet. ·        Avoid fat enriched milk products like cheese, sweets, full fat cream etc. ·        Drink 3 liters of water in a day. ·        Try to have less sugar in food and beverages. ·        Try to drink 2 cups of green tea in a day as green tea helps in weight loss by aiding digestion. ·        Avoid red meat like mutton, beef, lamb or pork. ·        Eat sprouts or roasted chana, whenever you feel hungry.
