Prediabetic patients ideally should not be started on medications like metformin. Preferabally they should try and learn life style modification with proper nutritious diet and regular 30-45 mintutes exercise .In view that you are already under weight you should discontinue metformin / glycomet immediately. Even in confirmed diabetic patients who are under weight I usually avoid giving drugs like T. Glycomet.

Your sugar control is almost near normal, my suggestion is try to do regular physical activity along with proper diabetic diet and avoid sugary products. Do regular meditation and yoga, it is sufficient to reach very good level. All the best.

HbA1C or glycosylated Hemoglobin as we know it - is the percentage of Hemoglobin which is saturated with attachment of glucose in the blood. Which means that if somebody has high blood sugar for a long time then he will also have high HbA1C. The value of HbA1C is not affected by day-to-day excursions of glucose and is fairly a good estimate of long time sugar values for the past 3 months in any patient - making this test a valuable tool to estimate the sugar control of the patient. Since your HbA1C is now 4.9% - it indicates an excellent sugar control and now your doctor can decide on reducing your sugar medicines. HbA1C has nothing to do with the estimation of preservation of pancreatic function.

Hello, PP 300 mg blood glucose is very high, suggesting uncontrolled diabetes. This can cause a number of long term complications much faster. You need to achieve a much stricter control. Ideally FBS should be closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. Only modern medicine has definite drugs for treating diabetes. Other branches or practices claim a lot, but nothing really benefits. My suggestion is upgrade the present treatment, that will help in better control Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, From what you have written, there is no clue about what is the current blood glucose level. Please give following details to give any guidance or advice: fasting, PP blood glucose levels, HbA1c%, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise being done. Please understand one thing clearly, diabetes is a disease which can only be controlled by appropriate drugs, diet control and exercise. There is no CURE. You will have to live with it. If you do not treat it properly then serious long term complications will affect every single vital organ in your body. Only treatment available is with modern medicines. Thanks.

Do you have dry skin? it might be due to xerotis dermatitis. Just keep your skin moist and apply coconut. Oil if it is dry skin and itching.
