MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
you can take tab. zyloric 100 mg od for 15 days the repeat test ...go for test vit.D also. Factors that may cause a high uric acid level in your blood include: Diuretic medications (water pills) Drinking too much alcohol Genetics (inherited tendencies) Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) Immune-suppressing drugs Niacin, or vitamin B-3 Obesity Psoriasis Purine-rich diet — organ meat, game meat, anchovies, herring, gravy, dried beans, dried peas, mushrooms and other foods Renal insufficiency — inability of the kidneys to filter waste Tumor lysis syndrome — a rapid release of cells into the blood caused by certain cancers or by chemotherapy for those cancers Also, you may be monitored for high uric acid levels when undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer.

Mai diabetic hu fasting mai 180 rehta hai after meal 280. Medicine glynase mf le rha hu but koi fayda nahi kya karu.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolized to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (self-monitoring of blood glucose? smbg). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of fasting sugar (fbs) and 2 hours after food (ppbs) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ insulin will be needed. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me privately with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch.

I am hypothyroid patient, I am taking thyroxine 200 now. Is there any side effect to take this medicine to me?

I am hypothyroid patient, I am taking thyroxine 200 now. Is there any side effect to take this medicine to me?
Mr. Lybrate-user, if you feeling fine with that dose and if tsh levels are within normal (desired) limit, then there is absolutely no problem. Thyroxine is actually similar to the natural hormone produced by thyroid gland. So most often it is very well tolerated. Some times side effects may be seen, early in treatment. But majority of patients do not experience any problems. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, If you have diabetes it is absolutely essential to get blood glucose under strict control with fasting closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c% <6.8. If these levels are achieved, then your general health will remain in very good shape. Apart from taking appropriate treatment you will have to exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day plus take a balanced and restricted diet. Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made out of maida, sweetened aerated drinks, sweet corn syrup containing products and highly processed packaged foods. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads. Fruits like water melon, orange, sweet lime, pomegranate, papaya, apple, pear and guava can be taken. But with good glucose control and only about 100 g a day.
