M 28 years old female suffering from back pain. As doctors advice I did MRI n report was lumbosacral spine shows mild disc bulge at L4_L5, n frm my blood test its shows that I have vitamin D3 insufficiency. Dr. advice me to wear Lumbosacral belt n to avoid physical activities, floor activities n sometimes it may lead my condition bad. My question Dr. Is it can't b cured ? Avoid physical activities, that shall I have to avoid sex also ? N most important thing Dr. pls tell I can't b pregnant. I can't give birth to a child ? Husband is thinking that due to this my pregnancy will get complicated.

First of all, pls get rid of all these misconceptions which r in your mind growing. 1. Mri report is not bad at all, do back muscles strengthening exercises. Stop using lumbosacral belt continuously. Stop sitting for longer duration and lifting heavy weights. 2. For vit d deficiency, take vit d3 supplements. You will be alright.

Dear lybrate user, asthma is preceded by the production of histamines in the blood. Histamine is produced due to the entrance of foreign particles in the body. I have been operated for brain tumours in 2012, in 2013 again operated for the same and kidney tumors, I had recovered, in 20150 it started pain in my back and hips, the doctor asked me for spinal mri and its found multiple internal tumors in my spinal cord, I have been operated for it on 11 January 2016, now I have pain in my thig and hips but well than last months, please tell me how much time it take to reduce my pain?

Mr. Lybrate-user, it depends on how many tumors were there at the time of surgery, and how many could be removed. Typically nerve (radicular) pain takes a few weeks to months to be relieved of, inspite of using appropriate drugs.

Hi lybrate-user, you seem to be suffering from plantar fascitis. One of the biggest problems associated with plantar fasciitis is that everyday walking can be painful, yet walking for exercise is one of the best therapies for it. There are ways to heal plantar fasciitis, so you can feel better all over and keep walking. 1. Begin by using ice and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen if necessary, to reduce inflammation. 2. After a week or two of minimizing time on your feet, stretching the tissues (see below) and decreasing inflammation, you should be able to get out and walk comfortably at the end of each day, provided you wear a heel cushion in supportive, soft-soled shoes. After walking, stretch your feet. 3. If pain persists, talk to your doctor about wearing a night splint – a boot-like device that keeps your foot flexed while you sleep. If the pain is severe, a walking cast may be needed. 4. Injections of inflammation-reducing corticosteroids can be considered, and surgery to release tension in the plantar fascia is an option of last resort for severe cases. 5. Heel-Healing Stretches / Before you get out of bed in the morning, and then periodically throughout the day, do the following exercises to increase flexibility and ease pain. / Slowly flex your foot and toes to stretch the tissue on the bottom of your sore foot. Hold the stretch for 10 counts. Relax and repeat. / Do gentle ankle rolls to keep the tissues around the ankle and on the back of the heel flexible. / Sit on the edge of your bed and roll your foot back and forth over a tennis ball. One of the simplest home remedies Natural home remedy using kidney beans: 1. Take 60 gm kidney beans 2. Add 4 L of water 3. Heat for 4-5 hr 4. Strain the liquid through a fine muslin cloth 5. Allow the liquid to cool 6. Drink 1 glass of this liquid once every 2 hr in a day 7. Do this for a week 8. Do not use the liquid or the beans again 24 hr after the 1st preparation Surely you will get results.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part--knee & leg. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Its depends on how severe your pain and disc problem is spine injection will relieve your pain after that you need to take physiotherapy which should will give relief to almost 90% of patients if you have any other query you can consult

Hi, There is no mention of the nature or cause of your pain. As it is just 2-3 days old, I assume it may be because of any small injury. Maybe because you hold your baby for a long time. The first step in treatment for any injury is to give rest. You can give support to the joint by a bandage. Pain oils like Murivenna or Karpuradi thaila can be used for applying over the wrist. Mix camphor in hot cocunut oil, apply the warm oil on wrist twice a day. It would give relief to your pain. Do consult a doctor if the pain persists. Take care, be happy.

It might be of muscle strain or of pathological reasons do take ust and laser therapy for pain relief for 12 days followed by strengthening exercise from neuro physiotherapist best wishes.

I broke my ankle and got operated on march 2014 and then the area remained stiff. Now I got my screws removed last month but that part is still stiff. I'm not able to rotate my feet because of the stiffness. And also can't walk normally.

Hi, You have post fracture stiffness. You need a proper rehabilitation (specific exercise protocol) of injured ankle. Please consult good physiotherapist and start with exercises To ease pain and stiffnes you can do 1) Contrast bath. I. E. Immerse injured foot in ice water (2 min) followed by the immediate immersion in warm water (3min) . This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold atleast yotal 15 min. 2) Do ankle pump exercise in lying. 3) Do calf muscle stretching Thanks. Take care.

Knee Pain - 3 Natural Remedies for It!

Knee pain can be caused due to a variety of reasons as the knees are large joints that are often subjected to heavy loads. The occurrence of knee pain is on the rise, which may be caused due to sports injuries and unilateral load. Osteoarthritis, arthritis, wearing of the patella, inflammation of bone and cartilage are some of the common forms of knee pain. If you had been suffering from knee pain for quite some time, then there is nothing to worry about; Ayurveda has a great solution to alleviate this condition.

The herbal remedies offered by Ayurveda help in improving immunity, providing strength and endurance.

  1. Massage: Massage therapy can relieve the joint pain by soothing inflammation and improving the circulation. Several health studies indicate that the regular massage has the power to alleviate pain along the affected joint. You can pick up any oil such as coconut, mustard, olive, castor or garlic oil and heat it and apply it with a gentle pressure while massaging.
  2. Hot and cold compress: Heat therapy can help in increasing blood flow, decreasing pain and relaxing sore muscles and joints whereas cold therapy aids in reducing inflammation and benumbing the area around the affected knee. But before you apply them, you will have to wrap them separately in towels and not apply directly to the skin. The hot compress can be placed for 3 minutes and then immediately replaced with cold compress for about a minute. The entire process can be repeated for about 20 to 30 minutes. But you shouldn’t be using hot compress if the affected area is hot and irritated. Also, do not opt for cold therapy in case you have circulatory issues.
  3. Fenugreek: Owing to its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, fenugreek or Methi is a highly favourable home remedy for knee pain. It is particularly helpful for people suffering from arthritis. So you can swallow a teaspoonful of fine fenugreek seeds’ powder and drink a glass of lukewarm water after that. Follow the process regularly unless you get positive results. You may also soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in warm water overnight and eat them in the morning.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
