I took a test of my eye on an optical shop and my eyesight was. 25 of both eyes. He was not a doctor but maybe an optometrist. Should I use specs. And is it okay to test eye on an optical shop without concerning doctor?

If you have symptoms due to blurred vision, then specs will definitely help. However I would suggest you visit an ophthalmologist and confirm first.

An eyelid twitch, or myokymia, is a repetitive, involuntary spasm of the eyelid muscles. A twitch usually occurs in the upper lid, but it can occur in both the upper and lower lids. For most people, these spasms are very mild and feel like a gentle tug on the eyelid. Others may experience a spasm strong enough to force both eyelids to close completely; this is a different condition called blepharospasm. Spasms typically occur every few seconds for a minute or two. Episodes of eyelid twitching are unpredictable. The twitch may occur off and on for several days. Then, you may not experience any twitching for weeks or even months. The twitches are painless and harmless, but they may bother you. Most spasms will resolve on their own without the need for treatment. In rare cases, eyelid spasms may be an early warning sign of a chronic movement disorder, especially if the spasms are accompanied by other facial twitches or uncontrollable movements. CAUSES What causes eyelid twitches? Eye irritation eyelid strain fatigue lack of sleep physical exertion medication side effects stress use of alcohol, tobacco, or caffeine If the spasms become chronic, you may have what’s known as “benign essential blepharospasm,” which is the name for chronic and uncontrollable winking or blinking. This condition typically affects both eyes. The exact cause of the condition is unknown, but the following may make spasms worse: blepharitis, or inflammation of the eyelid conjunctivitis, or pinkeye dry eyes environmental irritants, such as wind, bright lights, sun, or air pollution fatigue light sensitivity stress too much alcohol or caffeine smoking Benign essential blepharospasm is more common in women than in men. According to Genetics Home Reference, it affects approximately 50,000 Americans and usually develops in middle to late adulthood. The condition will likely worsen over time, and it may eventually cause blurry vision, increased sensitivity to light, and facial spasms. COMPLICATIONS Complications of eyelid twitches Very rarely, eyelid spasms are a symptom of a more serious brain or nerve disorder. When the eyelid twitches are a result of these more serious conditions, they are almost always accompanied by other symptoms. Brain and nerve disorders that may cause eyelid twitches include: Bell’s palsy (facial palsy), which is a condition that causes one side of your face to droop downward dystonia, which causes unexpected muscle spasms and the affected area’s body part to twist or contort cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis), which causes the neck to randomly spasm and the head to twist into uncomfortable positions multiple sclerosis (MS), which is a disease of the central nervous system that causes cognitive and movement problems, as well as fatigue Parkinson’s disease, which can cause trembling limbs, muscle stiffness, balance problems, and difficulty speaking Tourette’s syndrome, which is characterized by involuntary movement and verbal tics Undiagnosed corneal scratches can also cause eyelid twitches. If you think you have an eye injury, see your optometrist or ophthalmologist immediately. Corneal scratches can cause permanent eye damage.

How Homeopathy Helps Treat Styes?

BHMS
Homeopath, Bangalore
How Homeopathy Helps Treat Styes?

Styes are normally caused by a proliferation of natural bacterial flora within the eye. This causes an inflammatory reaction and is known to affect children more than adults. It resembles a pimple in exterior appearance and may grow both inside and outside of the eyelid. The symptoms of styes include redness, pain, swelling and tenderness. Though the styes do not lead to any kind of visual problems, they can cause significant discomfort.

What can cause styes?
Your eyelids have lots of tiny oil glands, which can become clogged by dead skin, dirt, or oil buildup. When a gland is blocked, bacteria can grow inside. This is what causes a stye to develop.

What are the symptoms of styes?
The most common symptom of styes includes swelling of the eyelid, redness, pain, tenderness, eyelid crusts and burning in the eye. It frequently leads to a yellowish-white discharge which becomes very uncomfortable and may also continue to drain out of the eye. Doctors recommend not to press or squeeze the styes as it may lead to further complications.

You should call your doctor if:

  1. The child`s eye is swollen shut
  2. He has a severe pain
  3. He has a high-grade fever
  4. Swelling lasts for more than 20 days
  5. Pus continues to drain from the eye
  6. His eyelid bleeds
  7. He has problems with his vision

Homeopathic medicines for sty are safe and effective with no side effects. They play a vital role in improving the health and immune levels of the body. The recurrence of any symptoms in a body can be prevented by homeopathic medicines. These medicines are easy and comfortable for all age groups as they taste sweeter and give quicker results.

In homeopathy, constitutional medicines are the key-

To understand the constitution of a patient, a homeopath must know the patient’s physical make up, like, his build, desires, his disagreement with foods, his thermal reactions, and characteristics of his discharges and eliminations. Also mental attributes, like, emotional and intellectual reactions and normal performances. A constitutional prescription is based on the totality of the mental and physical reactions. It covers the level of susceptibility, the tendencies, the behavioral pattern and the underlying fevers.

Styes tend to dry out on its own although applying homeopathic medication can aid in hastening the process of healing.

  1. Amalki: This homeopathic medicine aids in repairing damaged tissue which in turn aids the stye infection to dry out. It is recommended to add a teaspoon of Amalki, which is available in most homeopathic outlets, into a glass of pure water. Then the mixture must be left on its own for the whole night for at least 10 to 12 hours. The mixture should then be filtered and used for washing the affected eye.
  2. Heper Sulphur: Heper sulphur aids in speeding up the rupture of styes so that the pain is instantly relieved. This remedy is particularly suited for the styes that cause significantly red and swollen. It also aids in reducing the tenderness and swelling. In the case of some children, styes tend to secrete a liquid discharge and are extremely painful. Heper sulphur along with warm compress can be extremely helpful in relieving the pain.
  3. Pulsatilla: Some styes do not cause any pain but cause significant swelling and secrete a yellowish discharge. People affected with such type of styes can be significantly benefited by the use of homeopathic remedy called pulsatilla. It has also been found useful in preventing reoccurrence of styes.
  4. Staphisagria: Staphisagria is for chronic or recurrent styes that appear mainly on the upper eyelid. The eyes are very dry and have rheum. The corner of the eye and the edges of the eyelids may be chapped and infected.

It is important to keep the eye clean and flush it with cold water. If the pain and related symptoms do not go away after 3 to 4 days, it is best to consult a doctor for further treatments. Recurring styes mean there is a tendency within the body, which had to be addressed.
