Hello lybrate user, leg pain after running is common due to spasm in the leg muscles known as tibialis anterior which functions to pull the foot towards your body during walking, running. When a person runs or exerts an unaccustomed stress there occurs production of lactic acid in the muscle which is quite painful. Relief by: rest ice application stretching exercises will help a lot god bless you.

I have a severe left shoulder pain, along with left side of my back half portion not till the hip, can't able to bend my head forward. The pain goes till the elbow. No pain at the neck. Kindly suggest me for quick recovery as I have not taken any medicines till now.

Shoulder pain can be a result of injury or disease of the shoulder joint. Injury can affect any of the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint. Injury can also affect the ligaments, cartilage, menisci and bones of the joint. Some minor shoulder pain can be treated at home. Icing the shoulder for 15 to 20 minutes, three or four times a day for two to three days can help reduce pain. Use an ice bag or wrap ice in a towel (putting ice directly on your skin can cause frostbite). Rest the shoulder and avoid any movements that might cause pain. Simple shoulder exercises can help to stretch and strengthen muscles and rotator cuff tendons. A physiotherapist can show you how to do them properly. Please consult a physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your condition. Bet wishes.

Few months earlier I started playing volleyball, then I had lower leg pain near shin bone (maybe shin splint) on both legs. I decided to take rest and it was gone. Now few days earlier I started running and the pain had came back and became worse. I want to continue my running but I don't know how to minimise the pain. Please advise me something.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Ankle stretching. Ankle strengthening exercises. Avoid squatting. Quadriceps exercises. Core strenthening exercises. Stretch calves get a custom made insole. Hams stretching. Sports taping. Hot fomentation.

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

For every 2 hours do have mobility for atleast 12 min and do consult neuro physio and have ift and laser therapy for 12 days followed by spinal extension extercise.

I am 60 years old and suffering from constipation and joints pain. May I seek your valuable advice.

Reasons for constipation are many. The main reasons are irregular eating habits, wrong diet, less of water intake, avoiding fruits and vegetables, excessive smoking etc. Pl try the following. Take one teaspoonful of fenugreek with water in empty stomach in the morning daily. Drink plenty of water, avoid junk foods, maida based items like pizza etc. Go for a brisk walk and do breathing exercises. Constipation is the cause of majority of the illness as toxins accumulate. Press the mid point on the chin below the lower lip 10 times in the morning. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Press the point on the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from toe in the foot 20 times by pressing and releasing with a blunt edge of a pen. Further rotate your foot clockwise and anticlockwise 10 times. Massage your leg with both hands. Consult me after 10 days.

It might be of muscle strain or of pathological reasons do Take UST and IFT for pain relief for 10 days followed by strengthening exercise from physiotherapist Best wishes.

I am above 40 years male. I have knee pain for last 3-4 years. My past and recent blood and x-rays diagnosis shows no abnormality. Every time I do physiotherapy there is relief and then after few days pain start again. Can you please suggest: 1, what is the cause of this pain ? 2, what is the cure for this pain ?

There can be many other reasons to pain than arthritis. Say, if one has a continuous standing work, one is overweight, mineral or nutritional deficiency, muscular sprain, old history of injury, etc. Further discussion is needed. As you said physiotherapy reliefs a bit, you need to continue with seka or fomentation also.

I am 18 years old and I have been working out for a while. But suddenly one day a severe pain in my centre of the chest. Also it is same with my back at the exactly opposite side of the pain. If your chest x-ray is normal then its muscular problem of spine avoid firstly toward bending and computer work, long sitting, hot and cold pack for 20 minutes and apply pain relief ointment.

1. Advise ecg. Review with reports. If chest pain is like sever tightness in chest, take isosorbide dinitrate (5mg) sublingual tablet kindly see a cardiologist.

U should do normal gentle exercises in routine or consult a good Physiotherapist and use any pain relieving gel that you suit apply locally not rub. This type of pain take time but can be cured by exercises but do with carefully. Good luck.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.
