I am aged 50. I am a vegetarian. Recently, I checked normal yearly routine check up. My creatinine level is 1.4 and urea is 20. Dr. Says that it is a border line. Hence, need not worry much. U can control it naturally by avoiding salt and taking coriander, green tea, fresh fruits and veggies. Is that ok? Or will I have take serious and go for further tests.

At the age of 50 blood level creatining and urea of 1.4 and 20 respectively are not much to worry about. They are borderline but going on a healthier diet (as suggested by your physician) shoul keep them under control. And you don't need to take any further test for this.

Upper UTI - 4 Common Symptoms

MBBS, DNB - Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Upper UTI - 4 Common Symptoms

A Urinary Tract Infection(UTI) can occur in any part of the urinary tract including the kidneys, ureters, bladder or urethra. The causes of a UTI can be many, with bacteria being the most common cause. In fact, UTIs are generally more common among women as they have shorter urethras, which make it easier for the UTI causing bacteria to pass through to the bladder.

The symptoms of UTI vary depending on the area of your urinary tract that has been infected. These symptoms are:

Lower urinary tract infection:

1. Bladder cystitis, in which the lining of bladder and urethra become inflamed and irritated

2. Dysuria, which is a burning sensation during urination

3. A frequent or intense urge to urinate, even though little comes out when you do

4. Urinary urgency, which is the sensation of having to urinate urgently

5. Cloudy, dark bloody or strange-smelling urine

6. Cramping or pressure in lower abdomen or lower back

7. Pelvic pain in women particularly in the center of the pelvis and around the area of pubic bone

8. Mild fever or chills indicating that the infection may have reached your kidneys

Upper urinary tract infection:

1. Fairly high fever with fatigue

2. Shaking chills with a feeling of discomfort

3. Nausea and vomiting

4. Flank Pain, which is pain in the back or side, usually on only one side at about waist level

Since pregnant women are at an increased risk of contracting UTIs, their urine should be checked during prenatal visits to prevent unrecognized infection that can cause pregnancy complications. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Tips for removing kidney stones: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. MBBS
General Physician,
I have 2 kidney stone in my both kidneys. Kindly give a suggestion to remove this stones.
Get an usg kubp done. Mention the size of the stones. If they are more than 5 mm in size or in lower calyx they will not be easily gone by medicines. Also some type of stones are harder in consistency they take months to go away. Different kidney disorders and urinary tract obstructions can predispose to recurrent stones. Drink plenty of water in frequent interval. Continue any citrate syrup you r taking. Avoid taking high protein diet.

Hi, This is due to iron deficiency. Get her Hb levels tested and even routine stool examination has to be done to rule out worm infestation. Please follow these tips to overcome anaemia: - Consume plenty of green leafy vegetables like spinach, methi, broccoli, beetroot, drumsticks, brinjal, carrot, tomatoes, etc. - Consume fruits like apple, pomegranate, dry fruits like dry grapes, dates, fig, almonds, walnuts, pista, etc. As it contains lot of proteins and vitamins. - Intake of citrus fruits like oranges, musambi helps to increase the absorption of iron as it contains vit. C. - Intake of deficient haematinic supplements like iron, B 12, folic acid, etc according to the peripheral smear reports.

Fruits which are high in Vitamins especially papaya, oranges and watermelon Vegetables that contain vitamins, such as cucumbers, legumes and celery. Asparagus is also a good food for fighting off a kidney infection. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water each day, to flush out the infection-causing bacteria from your body. Urinate as soon as you feel the urge, without holding your urine for a long period of time.

Right Kidney normal in size, shape, outline, lie, parenchymal texture & pelvicalyceal system shows moderate hydronephrosis due to a calculus of size 16.5 mm seen in under part of ureter. Please suggest for this

PGP In Diabetologist, Fellowship in non-invasive Cardiology, MD - Medicine, MBBS

You have a large ureteric stone which is blocking the flow of your urine on the right side. This is causing enlargement of the right kidney. Better go for a consultation with an urologist before any further damage occurs to your kidneys.
