I am suffering from mandibular tori in my lower jaw and I think it becomes large in size in one side .

Normally tori do not need treatment unless they are interfering with function of the bite or the tongue movements. Usually you can leave it alone. Unless the size is changing over time. This may indicate some kind of underlying tumour that would need to be checked.

I have yellowish teeth, what should I do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist,
I have yellowish teeth, what should I do?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

We don't know the size of the holes in your teeth. So there can be two options. You can get it filled with composite cement. Or you can go for root canal treatment. You dentist is the best judge.

Hello lybrate user, orthodontic treatment can be done at any age provided you have a good periodontium. Since you have mentioned your age as 25, it's perfect to undergo orthodontic (braces) treatment. The duration of treatment can vary from 1 and half to 2 years depending upon the severity of your condition. The changes from this treatment will be permanent as you will have dentoalveolar changes over a period of time. As a patient you will be able to appreciate the minor dental changes (alignment of teeth) within 1-2 months after you wear the braces.

It is necessary to do 2 times brush in a day or which paste should we apply.?

It is necessary to do 2 times brush in a day or which paste should we apply.?
Yes, brushing in the morning and after dinner is necessary to keep the surface of the teeth clean and reduce plaque/tartar formation. The paste is not really as important as how you brush. Do not brush in a horizontal direction- always brush away from the gums. And clean every surface of each tooth.

If the milk tooth doesn't fall on it's own you will have to get it removed so that permanent tooth comes in the correct place. In the meantime give your daughter something hard to chew on so the milk tooth falls on it's own.

Nite bruxism can be of two types. Day and night also called diurnal n nocturnal. It can be a result of several things one of them being stress. Cold etc. Yes there are treatments. Dentists usually make customised mouth guards for the patient t to wear so that it prevents dental damage. And try n reach the source of the problem to counsel them out of it. The habit has to broken to prevent temperomandibular joint dysfunctions mpds that is pain in jaw opening joint n jaw. Teeth wear. Tooth decay. Loss of vertical height due to that. Etc. It would be highly recommended you take him to a good oral pathologist or a pedodontist or a multi speciality dental clinic so that they may help you deal with the problem well good luck.

Dental Implants: All About It

Dental Implants: All About It

Replacing the damaged, decayed tooth with an artificial one on an artificial tooth root is known as Dental Implant. In this procedure, the lost root is replaced by a compatible metal, on which a tooth crown is then built. In dental implants, sound tooth are not touched for support, unlike in root canal and extraction.

Mechanism of Dental Implant:

A strong, biocompatible material is used to make screws, which are inserted into the bone. Titanium is the most preferred material, and because of its unique property of osseo-integration (fuses with the bone), it fuses with the bone to reduce bone loss after the tooth is gone. In most cases, the titanium screws, which act as the root for the implants are placed into the bone and allowed for some weeks to few months to fuse with the bone. Then, an interim crown may be used until the screw is ready to take on an implant.

The screw is periodically monitored and once it is completely accepted, then an abutment is placed on it. This acts like a stump or a root, over which a crown will be placed. Though most implants are done for replacing single teeth, in many cases, multiple teeth may be replaced using abutments. If the missing teeth are adjacent to each other or in the same quadrant, then a denture might be overlaid over the abutments. Alternately, a partial denture may be used which is screwed over an abutment.

Advantages of Dental Implants:

  1. Eating becomes comparatively easier with implants rather than sliding dentures, because they function like your own teeth
  2. Unlike removable dentures, implants are much more comforting as well as convenient
  3. Better overall appearance of teeth, since they are made to fuse with the bone
  4. Higher self-esteem as you will feel better about yourself

Success rate:

Generally, dental implants have a very impressive success rate (up to 98%). This can differ, however, based on the placement of the implants.

If you wish to discuss about any specific dental problem, you can consult a specilized dentist and ask a free question.

My teeth are yellow but I brush regularly and properly. What can I do?

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist,

You need to go for scaling and polishing to get rid of stains. Stains can be due to some factors like some drugs, excess intake of tea, coffee, alcohol. Smoking. Avoid these if you take these. Brush regularly two times daily.

Agree to some extent with Dr. Chander, but we need to evaluate it so that it can be corrected by simple means as your daughter is at end of her growth phase. A photograph of patient will be of much help.

Sir I have yellowish, plaque teeth, some times tooth decay, bad smell etc any solution for me.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Sir I have yellowish, plaque teeth, some times tooth decay, bad smell etc any solution for me.
Hello. When brushing twice a day and flossing doesn't help improve your yellow teeth, it's time to consider other options. Teeth become yellow due to stains – both deep and surface-level – as well as other causes that sometimes aren't under our control. Although coffee and cigarettes leave stains on your teeth over time, thin tooth enamel also makes teeth look yellow. Tooth enamel is the hard, white surface of your teeth, and underneath it is a pale brown substance called dentin. Thick enamel looks white, but thin enamel allows dentin tones to show through, making teeth look yellow from the outside. Enamel naturally wears thin as people age, but acids from foods and drinks such as sour candies, oranges and soda also thin the enamel by eroding its surface. Saliva neutralizes acid and washes it away, but people suffering from dry mouth miss out on this protective effect. Other causes of yellow teeth include antibiotic use or excessive fluoride intake in young children, which can cause yellow-stained adult teeth later. Treatments for certain conditions can also affect tooth color. For example, head and neck radiation and chemotherapy can cause teeth discoloration. In addition, certain infections in pregnant mothers can cause tooth discoloration in the infant by affecting enamel development. Certain medication, mouth rinses can also causes yellow staining. Preventing Yellow Teeth: Avoiding smoking, coffee and soda helps prevent yellow teeth, or you can get into the habit of drinking those darker beverages through a straw. Drink milk or plain water after eating or drinking something acidic to help reduce the acid's eroding effect. Brushing and flossing also help, and avoiding snacks between meals allows your saliva to dilute the acids in your mouth too. Using over-the-counter whitening agents will also helps. Discolorations are generally responsive to bleaching procedures. You can opt for scaling, consult a dentist. And use homoeopathic toothpaste - SBL's Homoeodent twice (morning and at night) daily.
