My son is handicapped and mentally underdeveloped and on wheel chair. He is now 18+. At the age of six months he has uncontrolled seizures and still on anti convultions. He has chest congestions repeatedly. Also his capacity to control urine is decreasing. He has repeated UTI and URI also. How we can permanentally control this. We nebulize him occasionally with duolin and budecort 1 mg. Thanks.

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
It very tough. Get him vaccinated. Try to boost his immunity by nutritious food. As he is getting repeated infection ,get his IGA,IGG.IGM assessed. Nebulize with duolin only if not asthmatic as budecort will increase chances of pneumonia.

My son is of 4 months old is not passing motion regularly. He will not pass motion for more than a week. Is there any natural way to make it regular. Can we start giving him solid food like raggi. To make his motion regular can we give him castor oil? pls give me a reply at the earliest

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Don' t worry about motion so long as it is soft and passing gas regularly. You need to start weaning after six months not earlier if weight gain is in normal range

I don't have enough milk to feed my 12 month baby give me prescription To increase. My brestmilk supply?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
Now baby requires more than your milk. What ever milk you have that is sufficient to baby. By now, he must have started eating every thing suitable to him cooked at home and top milk. You may continue your feed up to 2 years of age.

My child is 10 years old her weight is 25 kg haven't got hungry she got affect digestion problems. She affect stomach ache. So she couldn't eat food? What medicines needed her?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)

Usually children of this age do not suffer from indigestion problem. Try to give her small but frequent home made nutritious diet of her choice and encourage her for some kind of exercises. I hope it may work.

Four weeks ago my son was given his 10 weeks vaccine (quadrovax). An abscess is seen in the injected area. It is around 3sqcm in size. Please let me know why this abscess came into existence.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Jaipur
Probably due to poor injection hygeine. A minor sugery may be needed followed by a short course of antibiotics.

My baby is 1 and half year old. But still not able to walk or stand without support. Her ca and vit d levels are normal.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ranchi
Hello thanks for asking the development is assessed in various prospective like fine motor, gross motor, social aspects. Also assessment of growth like height, weight and head circumference is important. Apart from calcium and vit a d there are other factors also which can affect the growth and development like thyroid disorder. Standing without support at 1 and half year of age is suggestive of delayed gross motor development. But assessment of other aspect also needed. So I request you to provide detail so that I better able to help you out. Regards.

Easing Your Dental Anxieties

BDS, FICOI, MDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Easing Your Dental Anxieties

Dental anxiety or the fear of dentistry has been a buzz word for many to ignore and avoid trips to the dental chair unless there's a very strong pain related stimulus to do so.

While going to the dentist has never been perceived as a pleasant predicament to be in, the levels or degree to which they feel this unpleasantness, can vary widely from person to person.

There are those of us who just feel like procrastinating the appointment and then there are those of us who cannot sleep the previous night and pass out or throw up when we actually make it to the appointment.

Scientific basis underlying this is the degree of fear that you associate with the experience, so no matter whether you are just anxious or downright phobic here are a few things that'll help you keep your emotions and fear in check.

All talk no work -discussion based appointment.

If you're anxious or phobic it helps to ensure that you have all your concerns addressed before you jump on to the chair. (and so to speak the unknown)

Help your dentist identify the things that maybe difficult for you. People are usually scared of particular things like for some of maybe the sound of the drill, for others the water in their mouth so ensure you identify and communicate what's most unacceptable to you so that the dentist can be cautious and customize your treatment.

Timing is key

Fix your appointment before pain hits.

Communicate the degree of fear while making the appointment or request a tele consult to discuss your particular concerns.

Try and schedule a time when you can ensure the doctor is expecting you and won't keep you waiting so your anxiety doesn't grow.

Do your research

When choosing a practice ensure you know what their philosophy is in general and how do they manage dental pain, anxiety and phobias.

It would be advisable to ensure you are going to a practice trained and geared to manage your specific issues.

Besides being a great dental clinic with the right team and technology -the doctor needs to empathise with the reality of dental fear and should be trained to treat you in a different way then regular patients who can

Check in advance if the practice is painfree.

If you do end up doing the procedure,

Break your fear into bite sized chunks

Then ensure you choose to start with a smaller treatment and a shorter session like a cleaning or something that you don't attach fear to.

Once you have a rapport with the doctor you tend to build trust and get comfortable you can start coming in more regularly.

Do not do an internet search on your problem or talk to friends or relatives

The worst thing an anxious patient can do is tap the wrong resource for information. Please ensure that you are not self diagnosing and finding things that match your symptoms online. Things appear way more gory than they actually are on the internet! another mistake that people make often is discussing their dental problem with friends and family who further scare you with their bad experiences and your fear is compounded to a point where you now think all their cumulative dental mishaps are sure to happen to you.
Our advice is follow the above steps find the right doctor and then just sit back relax and enjoy your smile!

My baby girl is 9 month old please give me diet to increase her weight she is just 7 kg.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Delhi
As your baby is 9 months old you might have started other foods apart from milk. You should give her a well balanced diet which includes protein and carbohydrates and fresh fruits. Give her khicdi ,rice, roti, eggs, chicken soup if non veg, home made paneer and fruits like banana and apple puree. Make it a point that your food is cooked and mashed properly so that your baby can digest it properly. Weight should not be so much a matter of concern as long as the baby is healthy and active.

I have started giving my 11 month baby buffalo milk with water on 50: 50 ratio from 4 months. But since then he has been getting lot of cough and sometimes he even vomits at night while coughing. I give him bottle with 120 ml milk twice during the night and once I feed him. During the day I give him aata soup, banana, roti, rice, etc. Of whatever we cook at home. Is milk the cause of his cough? If yes, what milk would be best suited for him then?

MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Vadodara
lybrate-user if you are sure that it started after the milk then it can be reason for that as different individual reacts to food differently. As natural product is best to feed I will not advise you to stop it. I can suggest you a homeopathic medicine. Give tuberculinum bovinum 200 1 dose to the baby. There may be further requirement of doses but for that you need to consult as the repetition is always case specific in homeopathy.
