Hi, have swelling with tissue bulge around black eyeball in the eye. It persists more than an hour and could not see properly .what to do?

DNB Ophtalmology, MS - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
This sounds likely chemosis- inflammation and fluid accumulation in conjunctival tissue...transparent layer over the white part of eye. Usually due to acute allergies or acute viral conjunctivitis. cold compresses or ice packs will help along with topical and oral anti-allergics. But please consult to confirm the diagnosis The blurred vision is due to tear film accumulation.

I have eye problem. I can not see the objects which are far from me. Can you please help me?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, You are suffering from Myopia (or nearsightedness). Get your eyes tested from an Opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in cold water fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

About a year ago, I got hit in my left eye with a ball while playing cricket. I used to have headaches before that too, but after that incident, the headaches when occurred, affect mostly in the left part of the head including the eye area. When there is no headache, I feel fine. What should I do.

Its important not to ignore pain as you are descibing. As you are having repeated episodes you may be having some specific diagnosis for which more than pain killer may be required. Although with description it resembles migraine but do you have any inducing or relieving factors. Or any other symptoms with pain. Which pain killer you taake And how soon it responds to painkiller you take. However may I suggest you to still screen for glaucoma as this is one of not so uncommon sequelae of eye injury as might be in your case.

I have a chalazion in my upper eye lid of right eye. It's there since last two months and it's the second time it's occurred at the same place. How can I make it go?

FICO, Specialist in Cataract,Cornea and refractive surgeries , MD - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Srinagar
First cause of recurrent chalazion has to be evaluated. 1. Check for refractive error. In patients with refractive error, patient touches or presses eye frequently causing chalazion. 2. Check for blood sugar. In patients with diabetes, there is high chances of chalazion 3. Blepharitis has to be rule out. If blepharitis is present, use baby shampoo diluted lukewarm water and clean the lid margins. Dont allow it to enter eye. Use refresh tears 4 times a day. Chalazion is not resolved by antibiotics and hot fomentation, has to be removed by surgery.

My father has undergone cataract operation for his both eyes. Now in one eye his vision in not clear. What we should do under this condition?

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
It could be due to many reasons. Sometimes a layer of cells forms behind the lens that is implanted in the eye. If that is so then vision will improve after that layer is removed with laser. But decreased vision could also be due to some retinal problem. So it is better to get his eyes evaluated completely by an ophthalmologist.
