What are the preferred medications should be taken if a person is known to be in the early stages of migraine? Please help me.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Here are some tips to prevent a migraine attack, drugs are not essential in early stages: 1. Identify and avoid migraine triggers. You can keep track of your headache patterns and identify headache triggers by using a headache diary. 2. Recall what was eaten prior to an attack to help you identify chemical triggers. 3. Manage stress to prevent or reduce the severity of the migraine attacks. 4. Follow a regular daily routine and get adequate rest. 5. Exercise (in moderation) regularly.

My DOB is 1st April 1983. I have lost mush weight in last 2 years and want to know what might be the reason for this. The one reason that I know is that I don't take my meals properly and rarely take breakfast. Could yo please suggest some ways to improve my appetite in order to help me gain weight.

Hye, thanks for the query. Being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition. Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight: eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals. Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, rice and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes. Snack on nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of cake or ice cream is fine. But most sweets should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Sheera, lassi and chikki are good choices. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite.

I am 21 year old having heavy white discharge with no smell from last few days. I want to know the reason of this. Is this normal or not.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FCPS, DGO, Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning (DFFP)
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
White discharge called lucorrhoea is common and normal if not associated with other complaints. For this nothing to be done except Pap’s smear if not done (if sexually active). If associated with other complaints, then needs examination by Gynecologist.

Start taking black til (seasam) with a glass of lukewarm milk early morning. Avoid pickles, spices, oily, greesy food items. Start avle ka murabba. Also have a high protien rich diet e. G. Pulses, dry fruits, black gram, ground nut etc. Also oil your hair with good herbal oil and wash with herbal shamppoo - avoid shampoos with high acid contents. As far as ayurveda's therapy is concerned - start with shirodhara with herbal oil and nasyam therapy for atleast 15 days. This will greatly help. Do gentle massage with herbal hair oil daily night for 15 minutes. Although some herbal medicines might also help you.

Any good medicated sunscreen with spf more than 25 will help. The type of sunscreen to be prescribed will depend on the type of your skin, whether dry or oily. Also to remove the tan, medicines are available in the form of depigmenting creams. Please send a picture of your face by direct online consultation for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Hello. The scars and the pigmentation on the face are treatable. It's better to get it examined first so that we can identify the type of skin, scars and if they are hyper pigmented, atrophic or ice pick scars. The treatment are of various kind like ranging from simple scrubs and mild peels for the face to the major interventions such as laser therapy, dermaroller, subcision or peeling. These depend on the type of the scars and which kind you opt for. You can consult me online or text me with pictures for further details.

Hii use a salicylic acid containing foamwash regularly for washing face. Apply a clindamycin, retinoids, containing cream at bedtime only on pimples or full face depending on the type of acne that you have. Avoid any moistuirisers, oils, etc on face. Keep low in proteins, and milk an milk products, etc.
