I am 50 years old, I eat a very light breakfast and a medium dinner, the quantity I eat is very less and I usually have one beer once a week I am active all day since I manage a construction firm. I had knee pain for almost 1 month. Consulted doctor. He advised to take rest as x ray was normal. Despite of taking rest my knee pain did not reduce. Its almost 2 months I have pain. Doctor suggested mri.In mri scan there is horizontal meniscus tear. I consulted many orthopaedics. But few r telling to take rest where as few are telling to do physiotherapy. Im unable to understand should I do physiotherapy or not.

Hi consult a knee surgeon who does arthroscopic meniscal repair.In my opinion, rest is better instead of physiotherapy as of now to lessen pain and inflammation. Quadriceps drill alone should be done under guidance to prevent wasting of surrounding muscle, quadriceps. Take anti inflammatory meds for 7 to 10 days, use knee brace for support and use english commode in toilet for prevention of knee bending. All this for 2 weeks. Knee surgeon may help with repair if he finds that necessary best wishes.

My daughter aged 19 years is suffering from Urticaria. Please suggest medication for her and also inform causes for the disease.

Urticaria (sometimes called hives) is an itchy rash caused by tiny amounts of fluid that leak from blood vessels just under the skin surface. Urticaria is classed as: • Acute urticaria - if it develops suddenly and lasts less than six weeks. Most cases last 24-48 hours. About 1 in 6 people will have at least one bout of urticaria in their life. It can affect anyone at any age. Some people have recurring bouts of acute urticaria. • Chronic urticaria - if it persists long-term. Chronic means persistent or ongoing. In chronic urticaria a rash develops on most days for at least six weeks. This is uncommon. About 1 in 1,000 people develop chronic urticaria at some stage in their life. It is more common in women than it is in men. Some people have an urticarial rash on and off for months, or even years. • The rash can affect any area of skin. Small raised areas called weals (or wheals) develop on the skin. The weals look like mild blisters and are itchy. Each weal is white or red and is usually surrounded by a small red area of skin which is called a flare. The weals are commonly 1-2 cm across but can vary in size. There may be just a few but sometimes many develop over various parts of the body. Sometimes weals that are next to each other join together to form larger ones. The weals can be any shape but are often round. • As a weal fades, the surrounding flare remains for a while. This makes the affected area of skin look blotchy and red. The blotches then fade gradually and the skin returns to normal. Each weal usually lasts less than 24 hours. However, as some fade away, others may appear. It can then seem as if the rash is moving around the body. The rash may clear completely only to return a few hours or days later. A trigger is thought to cause the release of chemicals (such as histamine) from cells in the skin. The chemicals cause fluid to leak from tiny blood vessels under the skin surface. The fluid pools to form weals. The chemicals also cause the blood vessels to open wide (dilate) which causes the flare around the weals. The trigger is not known or identified in many cases. Possible causes in some cases include the following: • In many cases the cause may be an autoimmune problem. Autoimmune means that our own immune system causes damage to some of our body's own cells. Normally, our body makes proteins called antibodies to fight infections; for example, when we catch a cold or have a sore throat. These antibodies help to kill the germs causing the infection. In autoimmune diseases the body makes similar antibodies (autoantibodies) that attack its normal cells. In urticaria, these antibodies attach to cells under the skin and cause them to release histamine and other chemicals. The reason why this happens is not clear. • An allergy to a food, medicine or parasite (such as worms in the gut) is an uncommon cause of persistent (chronic) urticaria. A skin specialist may advise tests if an allergy is suspected. • Physical urticaria. This is a type of urticaria in which a rash appears when the skin is physically stimulated. The most common example of this is called dermatographism (dermatographia) - a rash develops over areas of skin which are firmly stroked. In other cases an urticarial rash is caused by heat, cold, emotion, exercise, or strong sunlight. This kind of urticaria often causes bouts of sudden-onset (acute) symptoms, but sometimes causes chronic symptoms. • A germ (bacterium) called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) which is commonly found in the stomach may be a factor in some cases. If you are infected with this bacterium and it is cleared with treatment, it may cure the problem with urticaria. Occasionally a trigger such as a food is identified which causes the rash. You may then be able to avoid it. However, it is unusual to identify a trigger. For example, if a food trigger is suspected, then you may be asked to keep a food diary to try to identify which food is responsible. Various other factors may make symptoms worse (but are not the main trigger). The following are things that some people have found helpful, but there is little proof that they work in everybody: • Try avoiding tight clothes, as weals sometimes tend to occur at sites of local pressure. For example, under belts, under tight-fitting shoes, etc. • Try keeping cool, as urticaria may tend to flare up in warmer conditions. In particular, keep the bedroom cool at night. • Some things worth considering include: alcohol, hot baths, strong sunlight, and undue emotion. If you think any of these are making symptoms worse then it may be helpful to avoid them. • See a doctor if you think a medicine is making symptoms worse, as a change in medication may be an option. You need to take constitutional treatment in homeopathy. That means based on your all conditions, the drug will be decided. For that you better to meet any near by expert & be on regular follow ups. But till then you can apply arnica+jaborandi hair oil externally, frequently like once for 2days, keepthat for 2-3 hrs, or whole night before taking head bath, shampoo also should be the same, or any herbal like reetha, or shikakai. Take internally protein diet like soya, whole grain wheat flour made, pounded rice, sprouts which contain more b complex, all seasonal fruits, fresh, veg, green leafy, plenty of water. I am 26 years old, and one of my teeth there is something white patch there it about more than 12 years, I asked dentist but they told that's because some minerals deficiency.. Is that true? I will not drink milk, tea or coffee any think because of this it will be. What is the solution for this?

Below are the health tips which will help you out. -your first meal should be consumed within 15-30 minutes of waking up and consumed every 2.5 to 3 hours. - add some extra carbohydrates and proteins to your breakfast, pre-workout meal or post-workout meal. -for proteins you can take cottage cheese, yogurt and partly skimmed cheeses -you can also include non vegetarian sources eggs whites and meats as ground beef, chicken, turkey, etc -for carbohydrates choose complex carbs, such as bran, barley, buckwheat, beans, brown rice, cornmeal, oatmeal and whole grains - you should include at least 50 g of good fats through dried fruits, nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, flax seeds -take at least 2 servings of green vegetables which is the equivalent of 1-2 cups per meal every 2-3 hours -eat your biggest meal at breakfast, pre-workout & post-workout your food intake should come from high quality food and you will be amazed at the results achieved by simply putting all your efforts into following your meal plan, proper training and sleep.

Dear its due to incorrect posture of sitting and standing... Always sit and stand straight. Do walk early morning and yoga asanas like bhujanasana, shalabhasana and suryanamaskar it will strengthen ur back muscles. Pregnancy is that wonderful and beautiful phase that most women rejoice about. However, many may find it hard to believe that pregnancy can bring with it a condition known as ‘antenatal depression’. This is a common condition in expecting mothers and should not be ignored.

Depression during pregnancy like regular depression is a clinical condition and requires further investigation and management. Pregnancy is related to the female hormones and therefore, mood swings are common (as during PMS and menopause). However, depressed pregnant women would typically have the following associated symptoms too.

  1. Altered eating habits

  2. Altered sleeping patterns (too much or too less)

  3. Loss of attention/ability to focus

  4. Losing interest in activities which usually interest the person

  5. Feeling very anxious

  6. Constant feeling of sadness

  7. Uncertainty about the future

  8. Feeling of worthlessness

  9. Suicidal tendencies

It has been noted about 25% of women can get depressed during pregnancy for varying periods of time. Some potential reasons for this are as below.

I am unable to avoid some intrusive thoughts which pops up in my mind while studying or while doing any other things, then it takes me 10-15 minutes to convince myself in order to not take that thought seriously and I pledge to ignore such thoughts in future. But I feel the same amount of pain when such type of thoughts reappear in my mind and I feel extremely helpless in terms of ignoring those thoughts and it again take the same amount of time (and sometimes same argument too which I use to do with myself) to convince myself to ignore such thoughts. Now, for last 1 month, such thoughts started disturbing me so frequently that I am failing to concentrate in studies for more than 10-15 minutes and I use to get indulge in talking to myself in order to reduce the anxiety caused by thoughts which I don't like. It gives me headache after sometime. I can sense the problem to be growing day by day from last 1-2 months. Please suggest me immediate measures and way forward in this regard.

Sir I used betnovate for one month without knowing it is a steroid given by some doctor for pimples pls tell me it will cause side effects like psoriasis pls sir help me answer correctly.

Greetings Kindly stop betnovate application asap. If you have applied on face, then you might get itching, pimples, thin n red skin after steroid application. Better is to stop earliest n start applying sunscreen regularly. Also, better s to consult a dermatologist.
