Tips for removing kidney stones:: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Pls send ur USG report becoz medication for stones depends upon size number and location of stones and can be given after USG.

My father is 59 years old. Since a week he is saying that he has to urinate frequently which includes burning sensation and not every time he is able to pas the urine. Sometimes few drops only. Could you please tell what is the problem here?

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS
Urologist, Ahmedabad
Dear , your father is suffering from stranguria. As it is recent it is more than likely that he has developed a fissure which is due to passage of hard stools. So treat it first: take emollient laxative like cremaffin plus 1 tsf at night, isabgol powder 3-4 tsf in a glass of water at night. Apply any ointment like anovate or zincal before passing stools. If no improvement then let me know in weeks time. Dr. Kiran mehta.

Hematuria can occur in UTI as well as glomerulonephritis. So you need to go for 2 reports of urine R/E M/E and C/S before starting any medicines.

Hello sir there is no problem. It's the normal mechanism of the body. The lesser water you drink the more your urine will be yellow in colour and less in quantity. Body will only excrete toxins and no water that is why the yellow colour. So it is better to drink plenty of water. Take care.

Don't drink too much water at night. Stop thinking that you have some drops of urine left in bladder. When you evacuate your bladder for once it takes time to create the enough urine to cause the urge. You might have inner urethral sphincter spasm that can be relieved with medicines. Also get your fasting blood sugar checked.
