Ways To Treat Hyperpigmentation Naturally!

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Ways To Treat Hyperpigmentation Naturally!

Ayurveda believes that the human body is made of 3 doshas kapha, pitta and vata. Most illnesses are a result of imbalance between these three doshas and dominance of patterns and symptoms of one of the three doshas.

Melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its color; higher the pigment levels, darker the complexion. Hyperpigmentation is caused due to excessive melanin deposition, commonly in certain areas of the skin like the face leading to blemishes and dark spots. In fair complexioned people, this could be an aesthetic issue, affecting the personality of the individual.

The following are some common causes of hyperpigmentation:

  1. Overexposure to sunlight: Direct exposure to sunlight without use of sunscreen.
  2. Environmental pollutants: Dust and other chemicals, especially in areas with high levels of pollution are more prone to hyperpigmentation.
  3. Cosmetic products: If they contain chemicals like silicone and hydroquinone, over a long period of time, can produce dark spots.
  4. Antibiotics and hormone treatments: As a side effect, some antibiotics and hormones used as oral contraceptive pills can produce spots.
  5. Viral infections like herpes: The scars from infections like herpes and chickenpox would take time to heal completely and can be a cosmetic issue.

Hormonal issues may cause hyperpigmentation and in that case, we need to supplement herbal tablets for better result and better skin health and glow.

Now, let us look at some simple, herbal ways to manage these:
Natural exfoliation of skin: Wash the skin regularly with plain water before heading out and after returning.
Aloe vera juice can be used as a cleanser and toner followed by applying vitamin E oil.

Use the following natural face packs:

  1. Turmeric: Known for its skin lightening properties, turmeric can be mixed with milk or aloe vera pulp or ghee and applied on the skin. Alternately, plain turmeric can be rubbed on the skin once or twice a day to reduce blemishes.
  2. Lemon Juice: Application of plain lime juice is considered as an excellent way to reduce dark spots and blemishes.
  3. Sandalwood: Believed to have great benefits on the skin. Mixed with honey or milk or plain sandalwood as a paste is very beneficial to the skin.
  4. Tomato juice: Mixed with honey is also believed to be good for skin complexion.
  5. Water: Drinking lots of water keeps the skin hydrated and helps the skin keep pigmentation at bay. There would be a natural glow and elasticity of the skin, which is very visible.

In addition to these food substances, there are a lot of topical applications like oils (kumkumadi oil, nalpamaradi oil, eladi oil, and kanaka oil). The treatment should be holistic in that along with topical applications there should be overall reduced exposure to sun and sufficient water consumption to wash off toxins and dead skin cells. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

1) A healthy and well balanced diet having regular meals. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. 500 extra calories a day = 1 extra pound gained per week. 2) Eat a lot of good things –eat healthy calories that are loaded with good protein, good carbs, and healthy fat. Consuming more fruits and vegetables can make the body fit and healthy. 3) Have 8-9 hours of sleep every night for maximum gains.

I was suffering from nasal block and loss of smell, On the basis of CT report of my Nose, ENT surgeon told that many polyps are present and suggested for major surgery and if not done immediately it may lead to many problems. My query is will I become more sensitive and cam I lead normal life if I undergo this surgery. Please suggest.

MS - ENT , MBBS
ENT Specialist, Gurgaon
Hi lybrate-user. In case you are having polyps you require endoscopic sinus surgery because nasal blockage causes decrease oxygen supply at night and you will not feel fresh in morning. It will also hamper your daily activity. But one thing you need to remember is that this surgery is meant to open your sinuses and you require to be on followup with your doctor so that this problem can be controlled in future as well. I'm repeatedly failing in a entrance exam. My performance is not bad, but I'm not getting the best result as number of seats very less. I'm studying day and night since 3 years. My career is in doubt now. Little bit depressed and still want to get success in that xam. I'm still trying and still reading. But somewhere a frustration attacking me. Please help.

Hypnotherapist, DCS, BSIC, Advanced Trainee of Transactional Analysis, Advanced Skills in Counselling
Psychologist,
It must be frustrating and demotivating for you to repeatedly" not clear" the exam. Please notice that I said" not clear" instead of failing, because you seem to be associating this failure with your personal failure, which is actually not true. You are much more and beyond the passing and failing in an exam. Humans have unlimited potential out of which we use only 5-7%. Rest is untapped. Clearing your exam is not the only way to achieve your success and happiness. Try to create more situations where you get to learn more and utilise your learning. It is common knowledge that, public exams like banking and ias have few seats available but applicants are in lakhs. Usually such students, create a plan b and plan c, where in they have already thought of another job or course to take up so that their learning and earning doesn't stop. Your knowledge and learning will not go waste. Find out where else it can be applied eg. Ias students learn more about current affairs, general knowledge and govt policies for establishments and organisations. Even if they don't get a govt job, they can apply in private sector or start their own business. Set up a time frame within which you try a set number of times. If you don't get through. Leave it and move on. Life doesn't stop for anyone. People who are flexible and adaptable are successful, people who don't adapt get left out. I'm sure that you would have heard of" survival of the fittest" theory by charles darwin. You must understand what are your strengths and in which fields you would do your best. Think of those moments when you were doing your best and felt the happiest and lively. Many researchers have proved that if you find out what is your" calling" then you will do your best, feel content and satisfied and experience good physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. I suggest that you take out time to understand what you excel at. Maybe not getting through this exam is a boon in disguise.

I have back pain since 3 months. I don't have any accident but it's paining almost every day. What should I do now?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Treatment for stage 3 is neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. Cytoreductive surgery is the main component and should be done optimally. If optimal cytoreductive surgery is not done rest of the treatment is also not very helpful.

Good morning. I have a some sexual problem I have a ppp on pines. What is it? And how to get rid of ppp in home remedies tell me some suggestions please.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
lybrate-user, first of all it is not a sexual problem, so no need to worry------------Pearly Penile Papules (PPP), found around the head of the penis. Are small, smooth spots that are white or skin-coloured and often appear in small rows a bit like a string of pearls, hence the name. These penile papules are absolutely nothing to worry about as they pose no health risks and will not cause any pain or irritation and are very common, with an estimated 20% of the male population developing them. There is no known cause of PPP and are absolutely Non Infectious and aren’t related in any way to sexual activity and personal hygiene, the papules can still be worrying for those who don’t know what they are and who may mistake them as an STI. Men with PPP should not pick them or attempt to squeeze them, as this could lead to scarring and infection. It is possible to have the papules removed for cosmetic reasons while consulting with Dermatologist----- as an anaesthetic cream can be used and you will be fully healed within one to two weeks although removal of PPP is not obligatory and is often opted for by people who are finding that the papules are affecting their self-confidence. Home remedies in ppp natural treatment are:--------------------- 1) Tea Tree Oil -------------- 2) Castor Oil ------------- 1.Clean the affected area of penis------------------ 2.Wipe it with a dry cloth------------ 3.Move back the foreskin in case your uncircumcised and apply 3-5 drops of any one home remedy and spread it around the affected area.------------- 4.Leave it uncovered for 1-2 hours.-------------- 5.Wash the affected area and dry. Repeat the procedure 1-2 times a day.--------------- 6.In 2-4 weeks of implementing above measures, PPP will be gone---------

Sir. I am 25 years old male. My both toenail is going dead. One is completely dead and another is remaining little. So how can I remove without any pain. please give a medicine so that I can remove easily and new good / beautiful nail starting to growth.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear lybrateuser, - Do not wear tight shoes as the pressure on on the nails leads to diminished blood supply causing the nail to become dead - do not try to remove the dead nail yourself, consult a close by doctor if nail doesn' t fall of by its own - avoid alcohol & smoke if you do - do regular exercise with proper fit shoes for healthy nails as it improves the blood supply - for pain take a pain relief tablet after meals.
