I am having pain in the right side of my head which causes swelling in my right eye as well. This has been for a month now. What could be the reason and any remedies. I have checked with an eye specialist and everything is okay with my numbers.

MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Cuttack
This may be due to external or internal hordeolum (also called styes). Hot fomentation and antibiotic eye drops will help. Allergic causes (particular food items, cosmetics) can cause passive oedema which will respond to anti-allergic medicines.

Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to:---------------- •Eye dryness------------- •Too much sun exposure----------- •Dust or other particles in the eye----------- •Allergies--------- •Infection------------ •Injury----------- Homoeopathic medicine------------------- EUPHRASIA 30 (Dr Reckeweg) Drink 2 drops direct on tongue every 2-3 hrly---------------- CINERARIA /EUPHRASIA EYEDROPS (SBL) pour into eyes 1-2 drops 3 times daily--------------------- Report after 5 days----------------------

I am 15 Years old and my spectacles number for both eyes is 4 . My question is that can my eyesight be normal and how. By wearing my glasses can my eyesight increase.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is 15 years now, so your number will increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

Most common cause is having a spectacles power. Just get it checked with nearest eye care specialist. Mostly it should improve to 6/6 with glasses.

I have one eye less visible. But the other eye functions as usual. What should I do to cure it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, What's the power of your eyes? Get eyes tested by an eye specialist. Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Sir, I want to know, Is there any treatment for color blindness? If yes what is it. L.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
There is no known treatment. However, there are special contact lenses and glasses that may help people with color blindness tell the difference between similar colors.---------------------------- color blindness is a lifelong condition. Most people are able to adjust to it without difficulty or disability.----------------- homoeopathic medicine----------------------- santonine 3x (dr reckeweg) chew 2 tab twice daily for 3 months.------------------- if the color blindness is partial ie. If one pigment is missing then the above homoeopathic medicine is very useful in that case as seen in my general practise. I will advise you, that what ever is your condition, you should start taking this medicine. Purely homoeopathic, noside effects.

I have one mole on upper eye lid. I have used odowart paint. Eye became red and pain. Please advice what should I do?

MBBS, MD - MD- Skin & VD

Go to a doctor. You should not try all these treatments that are meant to be done at a clinic, at home. Specially near the eye, you cannot take such a risk.

My eyes are burning when I sat continuous in front of computer. Please suggest. Me some precautions to avoid these sensations?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Dont use computer continuously for more than 5 minutes. There should be proper light in the area where you are using your mobile and most important dont use with low battery. The bright light of the screen gets more focused on our eyes and this causes dryness of the eyes and thus causing weakness of vision and eye and head pain. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYEDROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Sir I have a problem I can not reed book and I can't seen what's Wright what's should I do.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
There are multiple causes responsible for diminution/ blurring of vision. Let me enumerate them in brief for you: (1) refractive error. This is one of the commonest reasons responsible. Minus or plus number in one eye or both eyes may be responsible for weak/ blurred vision. The solution for this is glasses/ contact lens/ refractive surgery (if applicable). It should be checked by a trained optometrist/ ophthalmologist and proper glasses should be prescribed. (2) cornea related problem: injury, degeneration, infections or inflammation occurring on the cornea tend to causes loss of transparency and lead to weakening of vision. These should be assessed preferably by a cornea specialist and treated appropriately. (3) cataract in the lens of the eye: this usually occurs with increasing age but in some cases may occur at a younger age. There are multiple systemic factors responsible (eg. Diabetes, increased cholesterol levels, etc) injury to the eye may also cause cataract. This should be assessed and treated appropriately by a cataract specialist. (4) retina/ vitreous problems: these occur due to a variety of reasons such as high minus numbers, diabetes, trauma, etc. These issues are best assessed and treated by a retina specialist. There are good quality surgical options available for the same. (5) optic nerve related problems: these may occur due to raised eye pressure (glaucoma), or occur in association with certain conditions related to the brain and the blood vessels. These are best assessed by a retina/ glaucoma specialist (whichever applicable). (6) neurological problems: certain problems in the brain and the central nervous system tend to cause weakening/ blurring of vision. These are best assessed by an eye specialist in concordance with a neurologist and a neurosurgeon if required. Thus, based on the category you fall under, it would be necessary to take appropriate help and treatment. Hope my suggestions helped you. Let me know if you require further assistance.

I want to remove my specs but I am confused that it is safe or not and after 40 and 45 age what kinds of complication occurs. I do not know about this. My number Specs no 7. Any natural therapy if theres please tell me.

MS - Ophthalmology, Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS)
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Surgery is safe and comfortable but remember that it will only be for distance vision you will need reading glasses for near vision whether you get surgery done or not as your approaching 40 and use of reading glasses is age related.
