How Sugar Affects Your Skin?

MBBS, MD - Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Dr. Alex Ginzburg Clinic
Dermatologist, Navi Mumbai
How Sugar Affects Your Skin?

Unbeknownst, you often consume a much higher amount of sugar than you actually realize, as it is widely added in a very high number of foods and beverages. Research suggests that this excessive sugar consumption may ultimately be very harmful for your health - and that it may completely wreck your wishes for smooth and supple skin. Experts believe that overeating sugar can make your skin appear to be wrinkled or dull, and also lead to a host of other skin-related disorders. Here are the ways in which excessive sugar consumption affects your skin:

Causes inflammation:
Inflammation, caused by excess sugar intake, can be really damaging for the body - especially because it negatively impacts your immune system, and may lead to frequent breakouts on the skins and increased chances of pimples or warts.

Increases wrinkling:
Sugar's inflammatory properties not only lead to breakouts on the skin, but also cause wrinkles. Collagen, which is essential for healthy, supple skin, is broken down by sugar, which makes the skin look dehydrated and dull, also increasing chances of premature wrinkling.

Causes imbalances in blood sugar level:
Excessive sugar consumption causes irregularities in blood sugar levels by initially increasing sugar levels, which then reduces when insulin in released into your cells. It often ends up making you hungry, moody or shaky and increases stress levels leading to dull looking skin.

Leads to occurrence of acne:
Increased intake of sugar results in stimulation of hormone levels which raises sebum production and in turn affects growth of skin cells. This may be reason of acne.

Causes dehydration and irritation:
Sugar consumption in high amounts causes rashes or redness chiefly due to inflammation, which leads to yeast imbalances in your system. It also causes dehydration, by drawing out the water from your cells amounting to dry and puffy skin. Drinking adequate amounts of water and reducing sugar intake is essential in this regard. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I have dark acne scar on my face what should I use to remove all the dark spot acne scars from my face please hlp.
Hello. The scars and the pigmentation on the face are treatable. It's better to get it examined first so that we can identify the type of skin, scars and if they are hyper pigmented, atrophic or ice pick scars. The treatment are of various kind like ranging from simple scrubs and mild peels for the face to the major interventions such as laser therapy, dermaroller, subcision or peeling. These depend on the type of the scars and which kind you opt for. You can consult me online or text me with pictures for further details.

Lustrous, beautiful and healthy hair is a result of a healthy body and a healthy diet Foods high in protein are soy, tofu, dairy products like milk, curd, paneer, cheese, nuts, oilseeds, beans and pulses. Lifestyle changes 1. Along with a healthy hair diet it is important that you exercise properly as it will ensure that there is proper blood flow to your scalp and will help in the growth of hair.  2. Treat your hair delicately. Avoid unnecessary brushing, combing or handling. Use a soft, round bristles brush.  3. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles. 4. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier. 5. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair. Follow the diet plan given below as a starting point for healthy and lustrous hair. Breakfast  Skim milk / soy milk Whole grain bread or toast or poha or breakfast cereal or sprout Bowl of fresh fruit Morning snack Fresh vegetable juice like carrot or cucumber juice Handful of nuts like walnuts, soaked almonds, raisins, dates Lunch Fresh veg. How to gain muscles and to become fair and also to lose pimples with out any side effects.

How to gain muscles and to become fair and also to lose pimples with out any side effects.
Hi, You need answer to basically three problems. Let me address it one by one: 1) To gain musles you need to do exercise. We've all heard the myth that extra protein builds more muscle. In fact, the only way to build muscle is through exercise. Bodies need a modest amount of protein to function well. Let me explain. For active, working-out individuals one has to consume around 2 grams protein per kilogram of body weight. Ie. If your weight is 70 kg, then you require 140 gms protein daily if you are into gymming. But if you are a sedentary persons, your daily requirement is just 0.8 gms per kg body weight ie. 56 gms which we easily get from our daily food. 2) To become fair: We all are born with certain amount of melanocytes which gives colour to our skin. I feel you should resort to Natural ways to lighten your skin rather than using medicated creams. Following are few suggestions which if followed regularly will help you get a fairer complexion: 1) Use a cotton ball to apply lemon juice to the dark skin. Leave for 20 – 30 minutes and rinse with water. Do not step out in sun without applying a sunscreen with SPF more than 30.2) Apply tomato pulp to the dark skin and let dry. Rinse with water after 20 minutes. Tomatoes have natural bleaching and whitening properties that lighten skin. 3) Yogurt is rich in lactic acid and has bleaching properties that treat hyper-pigmented skin by suppressing melanin production. Lactic acid has gentle alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). 4) Potato juice has mild bleaching properties and is rich in vitamin C. This naturally lightens skin by clearing dead skin cells and reduces melanin production preventing dark skin. 3) Acne: You can control mild acne with basic skin care: 1) Use a good facewash like clean and clear or Himalya neem. 2) Use antidandruff shampoo if acne are localized on your forehead. 3) Do not pick at your acne or they might leave scars. 4) Keep your hair cut short so that they do not fall on your forehead. 5) Drink 8-10 glasses water daily. 6) Destress yourself as stress is a known trigger for acne. If above does not help, you may revert back for homoepathic acne treatment.

Skin Rejuvenation

MBBS, DDV
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Skin Rejuvenation

Sun, skin disorders, aging and even heredity can all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and elsewhere on the body. These include textural irregularities like wrinkles and acne scars, pigmentation changes like freckles and sunspots, or visible blood vessels.

In addition, skin may lose tone, feel less firm, and certain areas of the body may develop cellulite conditions.

Conditions that can be treated with skin rejuvenation and resurfacing include:

  • Static wrinkles: These wrinkles are visible at all times and do not change in appearance with facial movements
  • Dynamic wrinkles: These are expression lines that may appear as folds when the skin is not moving, and deepen with facial movements or expressions
  • Pigmentation: Freckles, sun spots, or other darkened patches of skin result mainly from sun exposure
  • Scars: As the result of acne or injury to the skin, scars may be rolling (a wavy appearance to the skin), pitted, discolored, or have raised borders
  • Vascular conditions: Blood vessels visible on the surface of the skin, vascular lesions that appear as tiny blood-filled blisters or even a constant flush of facial redness
  • Loss of skin tone: Weakening of the supportive skin structures (collagen and elastin fibers) that result in a loss of skin firmness or the development of cellulite.
