Doctor my knee was paining for 2 years when I consult to doctor he made an orthoscopi iwas having pain when I get down to staircase, walking 100mtr, walking without sports shoes. Now it is almost 1 year over but icant do some exercise or play cricket or football I get pain immediately. So what should I do

Yes im agreed with dr. Jaswant singh Do some isometric exercise for knee and along with exercise you take Cap.- cadalmin GIA (An ayurvedic medicine which is very effective for joint pain).2caps bid for three month regular and than after 1cap bide.

Sir, having severe thyroid problem tsh level is 8.50 and I am taking 50 mg tab thyronorm. Even then level is not coming down feeling tired and back bone ,knees and legs are paining vitamins n calcium if any I don't know Dr. kindly help. Plz.

You are not getting enough thyronorm and that is why your tsh is elevated. Please increase your thyronorm dose to 75 microgram. Also take it first thing in am and do not eat for 1/2 hour after taking the medicine. Have your tsh checked in 6 weeks. This should take care of most of your symptoms. Let us see how you do on this.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part--knee rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am 47 years male and having sugar last 7 years with thyroid problem. And feel tired and bodyache and left leg pain below knee. Please advice what would be my diet and some healthy medicine.?

IN HYPOTHYROIDISM:--- where there is deficiency of thyroxine hormone leading to sluggishness, tired feeling, weight increase, slow heart beats, intolerance to cold, swelling of legs, feet and face, difficulty in concentrating and at times in speech. Treatment for hypothyroidism is giving thyroxine tablets. And dose are according to level of thyroid for life time. Avoid bad habits . Avoid stress. Some Relax during work. Go for walk, Take plenty of water, high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. flax oil, Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid oily foods,junk foods, go for walk. Do Tests every 3 to 6 months. And consult doctor on time.

Usually mechanical back pain reduces by extension exercises. 1. Lie on your stomach for 5 minutes. Take deep breath 2. From same position prop up your upper body over elbow (the way you read a book in bed lying on your bed): 5 min 3. In standing keep your hand in the belt line and bend backwards. 10 repetition every 2 hours. Drink a lot of water and do not bend forward. Hope this helps.

Repeadetaly backache is going on with my wife after child born around 10 Years ago.

Hi, as pain have started after child birth (presuming its to be normal delivery. You should know that during pregnancy, the body releases a hormone that relaxes the joints and ligaments in pelvis to make it easier delivery. Unfortunately, this instability also increases the risk of inflammation and joint misalignment, which can lead to lower back pain with time. The physical stress of parenting or caring for infants and young children can impart tremendous biomechanical strain. Daily repetitive stress from tasks that require lifting the child or infant can compromises spinal integrity. Repetitive injury to the disc, joints, muscles and ligaments of the spine can result from chronic lifting, twisting and poor posture. I suggest she should get precautionary mri done or other investigation to check for any other injury (like disc prolapse or infection or v. Prolapse). Check with gynecologist, orthopedician or physiotherapist. Advice: 1) to relieve pain suggest hot pack, ift and swd for 10 days. 2) specific pelvic floor and back core muscle exercise regime after complete assessment. Pointers: 1) she should avoid lifting heavy object 2) be posture aware, while doing daily routine work. 3) avoid staying in position for long time like avoid continuous standing or sitting. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned that your mother has l3/4 disc problem which is actually a mri finding. I would like to know from you a detailed history of her back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. It can be very helpful in decision making if I can see her detailed neurological examination ( motor & sensory examination - can be done by a physical therapist) so if you can send me these 2 things: - her mri images - her neurological status then I will be able to give an opinion. For the flexibility of the muscles and joints. And also calculation of your bmi than normal after relieving of the pain you can start walking gradually for pain relief apply cold starts from foot to leg.

Met with an accident where in I broke my hip - neck of femur, now 15 months post operation, I still am carrying the screws in the effected area due to which I am experiencing problem in walking. I feel as if I don't have strength in my left leg, while walking. Te pain in the operated areas increases occasionally. Currently I am undergoing Psychotherapy, however that has not helped. Please guide if I should go for some other treatment and how much more time would it take for the wound to heal. Also, when should I go for another operation in order to remove the screws and is it advisable or not. In these days also feeling frictions in injured area at the time of moving leg to walk, sit and sleep.

: Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching Towel Hamstring Stretch Lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it.. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated Hamstring Stretch While sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds Repeat 3 times for each leg.

Back ache can be due to several reasons. It can be muscular, related to disc degeneration or prolapse, joint irritation or nerve pinching. Most common is muscle pain due to tight and weak back and abdominal muscles. Keep a positive attitude, focus more on keeping good posture especially when sitting for long hours, use lumbar support. Take frequent breaks and stretch in between. Try changing sleeping habits. Stretching and strengthening exercises for low back and abdominal muscles will help reduce pain. Try hot or cold therapy as tolerated. If pain persists consult a physiotherapist specialized in back pain treatment. Good luck for quick recovery.

Please specify which part of the foot are you talking about, is it forefoot with involved toes, mid foot or the hind foot with heels as a main cause of pain because there are different causes of pain in different regions of the foot. You can start doing exercises. You must do it under proper trained trainer and with good healthy diet. It would be good idea to do cross training which can improve stamina and power.

I am a 23 years old and have flat foot. Can you guide for it's cure and precautions?

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Inform after 10 days.

Hi, Usually I used to walk for more than 2 kms per day but for the past one week I am not able to walk even for a 500metre I am getting severe pain in the thigh and foots. And I have fever from monday I took acetaminophen continuously for 4 days even though still I am having fever and this leg pain so what should I do? Please suggest some good medicines for me ASAP.

Viral fever takes 3-5 days. But if fever persist for long or associated with other symptoms like rashes/ nausea/vomiting/ severe Joint pain/ severe bodyache headache/ breathlessness/pain in chest or abdomen etc. Then Consult Physician or please update for further guidance, as you may require physical check up & blood investigations like CBC, ESR, Blood sugar Liver function test, S. Creatinine , Widal test , MP Card test, urine examination & treatment will be based on reports. At present you can take Tab. Paracetamol 500 after meals, 3 – 4 times daily (only if you are not allergic to the drug) for symptomatic relief. Cap. Becosule - Z once daily. Drink plenty of water, Coconut water. Take light but nutritious diet . Visit physician ASAP. Take care.
