I have a serious problem of bad breathe. It's increasing day by day. What should I do?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Scrape your tongue each morning with a tongue scraper or spoon to decrease the bacteria, fungi, and dead cells that can cause odor. Hold the tip of the tongue with gauze to pull it forward in order to clean the back of the tongue. Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds, or aniseeds. Their antiseptic qualities help fight halitosis-causing bacteria. Chew a piece of lemon or orange rind for a mouth- freshening burst of flavor. (Wash the rind thoroughly first.) The citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands—and fight bad breath.

In case of Spinal TB, Is forecox tablets (2 per day I am taking) 100% successful in curing TB?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician, Alappuzha
Forecox Tablet is used in spinal B successfully if you take the full course of 9 months (or more if needed) and it is a combination of four medicines: Isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide which treat tuberculosis. Isoniazid works by preventing the TB bacteria from forming their own protective covering, while rifampicin inactivates a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection. Ethambutol and pyrazinamide, on the other hand work by slowing the growth of these bacteria.

I recently have night sweats when I sleep. So I want to know that what is the reason of night sweat?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician, Alappuzha
Night sweats are periods of heavy sweating, or hyperhidrosis, associated with hot flashes that occur at night. They're your body's reactions to the hormonal changes Night sweats in men are sometimes linked to low levels of testosterone, or “low T.” Testosterone is the main sex hormone in men. Night sweats can also be caused by other conditions. If you're experiencing them, make an appointment with your doctor.

Oats - Why you should eat them

Oats - Why you should eat them

Oats though seemingly dull, accompanied by a bowlful of milk can form a very nutritious meal. It is packed with fiber which is very essential to regulate your digestive system. Oats are low in calories and help you maintain your waistline. Here are a few reasons why you should add oats to your regular diet-

1. Oats fill you up - Oats are packed with fiber which keeps you full for a while. A bowlful of cooked oats contains only about 150 calories and yet it manages to stave off your hunger because of its high fiber content. The absorption and digestion process slows down when you eat oats thereby restricting your appetite and calorie intake. Oats keep you full for a longer time than other calorie-rich meal and delays the hunger pangs.

2. Oats help reduce cholesterol - According to studies, people suffering from high blood cholesterol could reduce their cholesterol levels by consuming 3 grams of soluble fiber every day. Oats contain the highest amount of soluble fiber among all whole grains (4 grams per cup). The gel-like soluble fiber transits the intestinal tract and aids in trapping substances which contribute to the rise in blood cholesterol level.

3. Oats are diabetes-friendly - Oatmeal is a perfect substitute for meals high in sugar and saturated fat. It helps to control the level of glucose in your bloodstream and also delivers your daily need of fiber. People suffering from uncontrolled diabetes can abundantly benefit from consuming oats although it is essential to keep in mind that you should not add sugary toppings or any other synthetic ingredients to your oats so that it retains all the nutrients which are already present in it.

There are many ways in which you can make your oats interesting. You can go beyond your breakfast cereal and bake cookies made of oats. You can also sprinkle them on your pancakes and bread or add them to your smoothie to increase your fiber intake. You can also add fruits like bananas or berries to your bowl of oats and make it tastier according to your liking.

Become less sweet if you want to look young! eat less sweet

Sugar molecules, in excess quantity or over long periods of time, wreak havoc on human tissues. We recognize strong relationships between blood sugar levels and many chronic conditions previously thought to be purely age related. in other words, diabetes develop problems sooner because of their chronic higher sugar levels, but even non-diabetic people eventually suffer tissue injury related to the interaction between blood sugar and tissue proteins. Prolonged exposure to elevated glucose levels results in production of advanced glycation end products which are responsible for early ageing.
Insulin controls how well we are able to digest and metabolise carbohydrates. When this hormone is in balance, we can eat carbohydrates like bread, pasta and rice without feeling bloated. But when it does not function optimally, then even a small amount of carbohydrate will lead to weight gain, ageing, acne.
To balance insulin levels-
1 avoid breads, pasta, rice, potatos and sweets
2. Consume more whole grains like porridge and eat more dals and lentils like Chana, lobhia, mung
3. Also consume herbs like fenugreek, vegetables like karela, spices like cinnamon and neem leaves

Hello Sir When I am in metro or at work, I find my palms sweating more than others. So please I kindly request you to tell me the how to deal with the problem.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by abnormally increased sweating, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. It can be associated with a significant quality of life burden from a psychological, emotional, and social perspective. Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized, or localized to specific parts of the body. Hands, feet, armpits, and the groin area are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the high number of sweat glands in these areas. When excessive sweating is localized (e. G. Palms, soles, face, underarms, scalp) it is referred to as primary hyperhidrosis or focal hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating involving the whole body is termed generalized hyperhidrosis or secondary hyperhidrosis. It is usually the result of some other, underlying condition. The cause of primary hyperhidrosis is unknown, although some physicians claim it is caused by overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. Anxiety or excitement can exacerbate the condition for many sufferers. A common complaint of patients is they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous. Other factors can play a role, including certain foods and drinks, nicotine, caffeine, and smells. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine- silicea 30 and bacopa monierri 1x - both thrice daily for 4 weeks. Yoga: there are few yoga poses which helps in calming your mind and relieves stress, but first learn these under a qualified yoga-teacher as many poses are prohibited in certain diseases or medical conditions! -practice shavasana or corpse pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body.
