I had wisdom toothache and swelling 1 week back. When consulted dentist she told me to go for wisdom tooth extraction as according to her it is decayed. I am afraid to go for the same as I have heard that it will affect health of my vision. Is wisdom tooth extraction safe to go for. Also with proper course of antibiotics and pain killers the pain and swelling has subsided. Kindly suggest what is best to go for.

If the wisdom tooth is decayed, it is best to get it extracted. Tooth extraction has not effect on vision. It is a very safe procedure. Even if the pain and swelling has subsided, there is a chance it will come back.

If the natural color of your teeth is yellow then only bleaching can help. But depends wether your teeth r suitable for the procedure or not. Secondly if the yellowish stains r present then scaling followed by polishing will sort out your problem.

My mouth is all red inside and dry since almost a week. Don't have any issue with stomach, generally I think this happen due to stomach issues etc but mine is perfectly fine. Only issue is minor fungal near private parts and very dry (red inside) mouth. If you can kindly let me know any medication for that.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Drink plenty of water. For dry mouth, consider chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free candies to help stimulate salivary flow. There also are artificial saliva’s on the market that may help to induce salivation. Sialogogues (Pilocarpine 30 mg/day. Contraindications - include many lung conditions, such as asthma, cardiac problems, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease). Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

My has tetracycline stained yellow teeth is there any method to regain their colour?
Hello regaining color is little difficult as tetracycline stains are intrinsic that is they are from within. Else the best and definite solution is to mask the stains with the emax laminates.

If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Hi lybrate-user if you are having so much discomfort, I would suggest you see a dentist wherever you are, so at least the cause can be identified and appropriate treatment options discussed. You can then opt for complete trratment there, or at least get some temporary measures to relieve the pain long enough for you to get to your home town where you can get the more long term solution from your regular dentist.

Hi , from what I read I understand that you have undergone orthodontic treatment (braces) and relapse has occurred. Since you are getting married soon, I would advise you to go for a cosmetic treatment like veneers and crown lengthening that will not only close the gaps but reduce your gummy smile. However, this can only be planned after seeing you clinically. You can approach us for the same.

Hello sir, I m suffering from payriya so what should I do for that and which toothpaste will be suitable for teeth?

Hello sir, I m suffering from payriya so what should I do for that and which toothpaste will be suitable for teeth?
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - have your dentures aligned as needed. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

I have a problem with my inside teeth whenever I eat sweet my teeth get pain. What should I do?

BDS, MDS

Tooth pain could be due to various reasons, the most common being dental caries that forms a cavity within the tooth exposing the underlying nerve. Treating the tooth is the best option for which you need to consult a dentist and emergency treatment includes to run a course of antibiotics and pain killers. But not all pain killers work on tooth pain so please avoid self medication. You can consult me

My recent 10+ month problem is early morning wake up with bad foul smell from mouth before brush. Please advise.
Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum (preferably sugarless) stimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

Can you please post an xray of those teeth coz it should investigated first whether that gap is restricted to tooth only or its extending to the bone also. If bone is involved than you need localised flap treatment to those teeth and gap is closed by crowns and if gap is until tooth then no need of flap than a joint crowns r given.
