4 Things That Happen When You Skip A Meal!

Skipping a meal has become a common phenomenon among most working people. You tend to miss breakfast on off days or skip dinner since you are too tired or sleepy. Skipping a meal once in a while may not have any serious effects although making a habit out of it can alter your body metabolism. The way your body reacts to skipped meals varies depending on your age, diet and health. Here are a few negative effects skipping a meal can have on your body-

1. Low brain function - There are times when you choose to compensate for a heavy meal you had by skipping another altogether. Your body weakens even if you skip one meal and subsequently your brain can't function actively and you tend to lose your focus. The brain runs on glucose primarily, hence, you can't think clearly because of low blood sugar level due to skipping a meal. It worsens in case you have made a regular habit out of it.

2. Mood swings and stressMood swings and irritable attitude is very common in case you are starving yourself. Due to low blood sugar level in your body, you tend to snap and get easily annoyed. The symptoms worsen if you make it a habit. You tend to get more stressed and face trouble in making decisions. Skipping meals regularly can make you really moody and jittery all the time. You tend to have angry outbursts in situations where you would otherwise deal tactfully.

3. More chances of overeatingFasting increases the chances of overeating. You may choose to skip a meal as a compensatory act but there are more possibilities that you will end up binging later. Denying your body the appropriate amount of food only makes it crave for more. Most of the times you are likely to end up eating junk food and make up for the skipped meal. It's best to eat proper nutritious meals than loading up on junk food.

4. Gaining weightThere are high chances of gaining pounds if you skip a meal routinely. You tend to overeat usually when your body feels deprived and gives you hunger pangs. If you restrict yourself too much then it interferes with your body metabolism. Your body goes into a survival mode and starts storing everything you consume as fat. That way whatever you eat adds to your waistline and does not do much good.

Hearing a doctor diagnose you with 'ovarian cysts' can make your mind think of the worst case scenarios, but this is actually quite a common diagnosis. Almost all women are diagnosed with ovarian cysts at some point of their life.

The difference lies in the type and size of cyst diagnosed. Hence, before you panic, read up and get informed. However, not everything you read online is trustworthy. Like every other health condition, ovarian cysts are surrounded by a number of myths.

Let's debunk five of the most common myths surrounding this condition:

  1. Myth - It requires a surgery: Contradictory to what you may initially think, not all ovarian cysts are harmful. In most cases, these cysts are small, non cancerous and will be resolved on their own. Surgery is needed only in cases where the cyst is abnormally large or where the cyst is diagnosed as a dermoid cyst or as endometriomas. Hence, if you have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst find out how big the cyst is and what type of a cyst it is.
  2. Myth - It causes infertilityBeing diagnosed with a cyst in your ovaries will not make you infertile or restrict your ability to bear a child. However, it can lead to complications that may cause infertility. If these cysts become infected it could lead to scarring of the fallopian tubes. This is one of the most common causes of infertility. Another situation in which an ovarian cyst may lead to infertility is if it is associated with endometriosis.
  3. Myth - They are cancerous: With ovarian cysts, every case is unique. However, in most cases, the cysts to not develop into cancerous cells and neither are they cancerous to begin with. A pelvic ultrasound can help your doctor diagnose the type of cyst present in your body. If the doctor deems it cancerous, he or she will usually advise surgery to remove it immediately.
  4. Myth - It only affect women after menopauseA cyst can develop in the ovaries at any stage of a woman's life. A number of women could even develop cysts that they are not aware of. In some cases, women can even develop these cysts post a hysterectomy that does not involve the removal of the ovaries.
  5. Myth - It cannot be controlled: If you suffer from recurrent ovarian cysts, taking birth control pills can help the situation. This can suppress the development of cysts in future. Losing weight if you are overweight or quitting smoking can also lower the risks of developing ovarian cysts.

Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding - Reasons Behind It!

Monthly menstrual cycles become a part of woman’s life after a certain stage. They get accustomed to it and adapt their lifestyle too. However, there could be abnormal vaginal bleeding, which is defined as:
Bleeding that is outside of the menstrual cycle (bleeding outside of the expected dates). This is also known as intermenstrual bleeding or metrorrhagia.

Causes: It is important to realise that abnormal vaginal bleeding is only a symptom and not the disease per se. In most women, there are underlying reasons that lead to abnormal bleeding, some of them are listed below.
In some women, ovulation can cause a mid-cycle bleeding, which becomes a pattern for most women, and they know it is nothing to worry about.

  1. Miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy: Vaginal bleeding is the most common symptom of miscarriage and requires immediate medical attention.
  2. Hormonal imbalances: This can be caused due to starting and stopping of birth control pills, thyroid abnormalities, or ovarian malfunctions. This requires investigation and management based on the underlying cause.
  3. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS): This presence of multiple cysts in the ovaries also has hormonal changes and can cause bleeding in affected women.
  4. Infections: Infections along the gynecologic tract including the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries can cause bleeding. Sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhoea and chlamydia are also causes for bleeding
  5. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID): It can cause inflammation of the entire gynecologic tract and induce bleeding
  6. An abnormally placed intrauterine device (IUD): It can also alter the regular menstrual flow.
  7. Other reasons: Fibroids, endometriosis, cancers of the uterine cavity are other reasons for abnormal vaginal bleeding.

Prevention/Management of vaginal bleeding: Abnormal bleeding requires investigation to find out the underlying cause and needs to be treated accordingly.

  1. Birth control: When using birth control measures, be it pills or patches, expect some bleeding during the first 3 months before things settle down. Similarly, intrauterine devices can cause some bleeding (foreign body effect).
  2. Pregnancy complications: Bleeding during pregnancy requires immediate medical attention. In most cases, it indicates a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy (where the embryo is planted in the fallopian tubes and not the uterus).
  3. Infections: While STDs can be prevented, once acquired, like other infections, they also require antibiotics and supportive care.
  4. Medical conditions: Be it polycystic ovaries, fibroids, endometriosis, cancer, or PID, all these require detailed investigation and management on a case-to-case basis.

You are underweight ,your bmi is about 15, you should gain 13-18 kg of weight during your pregnancy, take a healthy balanced diet ,take frequent meals ,in between meals take healthy snacks and do some regular exercises like walking. If wt gain during pregnancy is ideal you will not have any problem.

Fetal heart beat is usually seen on usg by 6 -7 weeks. You can get your scan repeated after 7 days ,if still heart best not visible then you should go for abortion.

माजूफल का वैज्ञानिक नाम क्वेरकस इंफेक्टोरिया है. इसे हिंदी में माजूफल, तमिल में मस्काई और मलेशिया में मंजाकनी के नाम से जाना जाता है. यह लोकप्रिय जड़ी-बूटियों में से एक है. इसका नाम माजूफल इसपर हमला करने वाले कीटों के हमला करने पर बनने वाले माजूफल के आधार पर कहा गया. दरअसल माजूफल फल न होकर कीट का घर होता है. माजूफल देखने में गोल और कठोर होते हैं. इसके कारण पत्तियों को कीड़ों के चारों ओर गोल कणों का निर्माण होता है. इसे ओट पित्त कहा जाता है. आइए इसके फायदे और नुकसान को समझते हैं.

1. मधुमेह के उपचार में
माजूफल में गैलिक एसिड पाया जाता है. जो अस्थमा और शुगर को रोकने में मदद करता है. आप मंजाकनी चाय बना कर भी पी सकते हैं. शुगर के मरीज इसके सेवन से अपनी परेशानी कम कर सकते हैं.
2. योनि की कसावट में
प्रसव के पश्चात चाहें तो महिलाएं योनी तो टाईट करने के लिए माजूफल का सहारा ले सकती हैं. इसके लिए एक पैन में एक लीटर पानी को उबालकर उसमें दो किलो माजूफल को पीस कर डालें. रंग न बदलने तक इसे उबालें. इसके बाद इसको ठंडा होने पर छान कर इससे योनि को धोएं.इससे लाभ मिलेगा.
3. घावों के उपचार में
इसका इस्तेमाल घावों के उपचार में भी किया जाता है. इसके लिए इसे पानी में उबालकर, घावों और खरोंच को धोने के लिए इस्तेमालकरें. इससे घाव जल्दी भरते हैं. इसके लिए ये साबुन से अच्छा विकल्प है. बेहतर परिणाम के लिए सुबह शाम धोएं.
4. आँखों के लिए
माजूफल में मौजूद एस्ट्रिंजेंट आँखों की रौशनी बढ़ाने में मददगार होता है. आँखों में ऊतकों को सिकुड़ने वाले गुणों होने के कारण इससे दृष्टि में सुधार होता है.
5. माउथ अल्सर के लिए
अपने कैसैलेपन के कारण, मुंह के अल्सर को बहुत जल्दी से ठीक करता है. जिन लोगों को छोटे अल्सर होते हैं वो उनके मुंह के दोनों ओर होते हैं. इसका पेस्ट बनाकर मुँह के प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में लगाएं. राहत पाने के लिए लगातार कुछ दिनों तक इस पेस्ट को लगाने का प्रयास करें.
6. बच्चों के लिए
माजूफल का उपयोग बच्चों के इलाज के लिए भी किया जाता है. आप सप्ताह में एक बार, हरीतकी और जायफल के साथ चंदन के पत्थर पर ओक को रगड़ते हैं. इससे प्राप्त पेस्ट को बच्चों को खिलाने के लिए जलाया जाता है. यह उन्हें बीमार पड़ने से बचाता है और बच्चों को स्वस्थ रखता है.
7. माउथ वाश के लिए
माउथ वाश, मुंह में अल्सर का प्रभावी ढंग से इलाज करने में मदद करता है. माउथ वाश बनाने के लिए, एक चम्मच के आसपास माजूफल पाउडर लें और थोड़े पानी के साथ उबाल लें. पानी को गुनगुने तापमान पर आने के बाद इसे माउथ वाश के के रूप में इस्तेमाल करें. यह माउथ वाश मुंह की गंध, मुंह के अल्सर का बहुत अच्छे ढंग से इलाज करता है.
8. कैंसर से बचाव में
माजूफल में पाए जाने वाले समृद्ध एंटीऑक्सीडेंट, सर्वाइकल कैंसर और ब्रेस्ट कैंसर (स्तन कैंसर) को रोक सकते हैं. कैंसर पीड़ित नियमित रूप से इसका इस्तेमाल करें तो कैंसर से बच सकते हैं.
9. मंजाकनी का उपयोग रखें त्वचा को बेहतर
इसमें मौजूद एस्ट्रिंजेंट त्वचा को चिकना और मुँहासे से बचाने में मदद करता है. एस्ट्रिंजेंट में समृद्ध होने के कारण ये त्वचा से अतिरिक्त तेल को निकालता है. यह चेहरे के बड़े रोम छिद्र को कम कर सकता है. इसके लिए त्वचा पर 5 मिनट के लिए मंजाकनी पेस्ट लगाएं और उसके बाद धो लें. यह त्वचा की कसावट के लिए एक बहुत ही अच्छी जड़ी बूटी है.

माजूफल के नुकसान

  • अगर कोई साइड इफेक्ट है तो इसका इस्तेमाल करना बंद कर दें.
  • आपको इसे छोटे खुराक पर लेना शुरू करना चाहिए, उसके बाद आप इसकी खुराक को बढ़ा सकते हैं.
  • गर्भावस्था के दौरान इसका उपयोग न करें क्योंकि इससे गर्भपात हो सकता है.

Pain in the region of heart on exertion is known as angina pectoris. 


• Inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to the heart is the main reason. 
• Atherosclerosis of the coronary artery. 
• Arteriosclerosis. 
• Increased triglycerides and cholesterol. 
• Sedentary life. 
• Obesity. 
• Lack of exercise. 
• Sudden emotional upsets. 
• Chronic consumption of alcohol. 
• Chronic smoking. 
• Drug abuse like – cocaine etc. 
• Hypertension. 
• Diabetes mellitus. 
• Family history. 


• Pain in chest – crushing, constricting, sharp, burning pain with feeling of strangling and suffocating, 
• Pain may radiate to both arms or mostly along the left arm to the little finger and the jaw, teeth, neck throat, epigastric region and between the shoulder blades. 
• Pain is precipitated from exertion or on physical activity and subsides on rest. 
• Pains last for few seconds to few minutes. 
• May be associated with – short breath, anxiety, palpitation and nausea. 


Cut down salt (common table salt) intake in your diet to avoid hypertension. Intake should not exceed more then 2 to 2.5 gm a day. 
Avoid foods rich in cholesterol: ground nut oil, ghee, butter, whole milk, eggs, lard (fats derived from pig meat), tallow (fats derived from goat or sheep mutton), oily fish, meats and red meat – all non-vegetarian food contain cholesterol in varied amount. 
Avoid non-vegetarian food especially red meat. 
• Increase intake of foods that contain PUFA's (poly unsaturated fatty acids) flax / linseed oil is the richest source of PUFA's. Other oils that contain PUFA's are sesame oil, mustard oil and olive oil. As all oils are high in fats, its consumption should be limited. The intake of oils should not exceed 20gms a day. 
• Sesame oil and almond oil hinders the absorption of LDL (low-density lipoproteins), so it is advisable to use replace other cooking oils by sesame oil. 
Increase your intake of water
Consume whole grain cereals and whole pulses
Take high fiber diet - whole grains, bran, oat, green leafy vegetables, peas, beans, potatoes, raw vegetables, salads, dried fruits and fresh fruits. 
Eat fruits and vegetables with the skin. 
Cut down the intake of sugar and other sweeteners. 
Replace whole milk with semi-skimmed or skimmed milk
Avoid fat-rich portions of flesh foods. Instead have lean meat. 
• Avoid fat-rich desserts and fried snacks like cakes, pastries, puddings etc 
Instead of frying food boil, steam, grill or roast food. 
Avoid coffee and caffeinated drinks, junk food – pizza, burgers etc. 
• Consume food rich in magnesium 
Nuts and sea food, green leafy vegetables, sea plants like Japanese sea plants, whole grains, Peas, lotus stem, pulses, legumes and oil seeds 
Increase intake of vitamin C, it maintains the elasticity and integrity of the artery walls. 
– Citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables. 
– Eat vegetables- cabbage, broccoli, tubers- potatoes and sweet potatoes.
Reduce calcium intake (reduce but do not completely avoid calcium as it is needed for maintenance of our body):- 
– milk and sea food, nuts, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, peas, lotus stem, pulses, legumes and oil seeds 
– Should avoid custard apple and banana as they are high in calcium. 


Reduce weight if obese. 
Stop smoking and alcohol consumption. 
Exercise regularly. 
• Take brisk walks for 40 minutes daily morning. 
Practicing yoga and breathing exercises plays a very important role in lowering the cholesterol levels. 
• Do some relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation etc to relieve the stress Change your lifestyle to reduce stress-physical or mental.

नियमित ध्‍यान करने से न केवल शरीर निरोग रहता है बल्कि इससे आपके सेक्‍स लाइफ में नयी जान भी आती है । अगर आप किसी प्रकार की सेक्‍स समस्‍या से जूझ रहे हैं तब मेडीटेशन के जरिये इसमें सुधार ला सकते हैं। यानी यह सेक्‍स लाइफ का मजा लेने के लिए भी आप योग कर सकते हैं । 

जिन लोगों की सेक्स में रूचि न हो, शीघ्रपतन की समस्‍या हो, उनके लिए ध्‍यान एक अच्‍छा विकल्‍प हो सकता है । मेडीटेशन किसी भी चीज पर फोकस करने के लिए किया जाता है । रोजाना सुबह के समय या शाम के समय खुली हवा में कम से कम 15 मिनट से 30 मिनट तक मेडीटेशन करें । इससे आपकी सेक्स में भी रूचि बढ़गी और आप सेक्स के दौरान नर्वस भी नहीं होंगे । इस लेख में विस्‍तार से जानिये ध्‍यान कैसे आपकी सेक्‍स लाइफ में नयी जान लाता है ।

1. खुद का अनुभव कराना

ध्‍यान आपको एक जगह पर स्थि‍र रहना सिखाता है, बेहतर सेक्‍स के लिए यह बहुत ही जरूरी बात है । जीवन की झंझावतों और उलझनों में आपका दिमाग हमेश कहीं न कहीं भटकता रहता है जिससे बेड पर सेक्‍स संबंध बनाते वक्‍त आप साथी पर अधिक जोर नहीं दे पाते । जबकि नियमित रूप से ध्‍यान लगाने से आपका दिमाग एक जगह स्थिर रहता है और बेड पर आप अपने और पार्टनर के बारे में ही सोचते हैं ।

3. सांस लेना सिखाता है
सेक्‍स संबंध एक व्‍यायाम की तरह है जिसमें सांसों की गति बढ़ जाती है, अगर आप एक्टिव नहीं हैं तो जल्‍दी थककर चूर हो जाते हैं । जबकि ध्‍यान आपको सांस लेना भी सिखाता है जो सेक्‍स के दौरान बहुत जरूरी है । ध्‍यान लगाते वक्‍त आप गहरी सांसें लेते हैं और यही काम अगर आप बेड पर करते हैं तब आपको यौन संबंध के दौरान समस्‍या नहीं होती । 

4. महसूस करना सिखाता है
