Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. We remain seated most of the time and stand for very short periods of time. Unfortunately walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homeopathic medicines are very helpful. They not only treat the acute stages but are also used for the treatment of chronic back pain.Selection of the exact remedy depends upon the individual symptoms of the person.So share the complete symptom picture for the proper treament. In the mean time take Arnica 200, 3 drops in the morning and Rhus tox. 200, 3 drops at night for 7 days.Take care.

Your father is most probably suffering from oa of knee. Knee surgery-total knee replacement (tkr) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results, in our hands. We have well equipped centers in delhi. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road.

Hello apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation .take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Avoid fermented food. Junk food.

Hello lybrate user, arthritis of knee joint is quite common at this age. The management would depend on your symptoms. Firstly, pain would be your major symptom. If you mild pain which is not affecting your daily activities you can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications, painkillers, physiotherapy to improve the muscle strength around your knee joint and increase your range of movement. If pain is not adequately controlled and you still have difficulty in your daily activities then you might want to think of some surgical management. Secondly, if severe stiffness hinders your daily activities and does not improve with physiotherapy exercises then again you might require an earlier surgical intervention. Thirdly, if you already have a severe deformity at the knee joint then again you might benefit with an earlier surgical intervention. I would also advise you certain life style modifications such as weight reduction, avoiding heavy loads on your knees such as climbing stairs, squatting, sitting cross legged. But must continue your regular exercise and walking. If it pains then do it with breaks in-between. Surgical intervention would be undertaken only if you do not respond to above therapy. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. This type of periscapular pain is very common and could be fibromyalgia. If there is no swelling or any other s/s of inflammation, I would advise you to undergo: - intensive physical therapy for strengthening of your periscapular muscles - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake which is important - a short course of gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can also be initiated along with physical therapy - hot water fomentation at home and application of analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray for local application can be done after fomentation. But your mainstay of management will remain intensive physical therapy, so try to find out a good rehab & physical therapy center at your place. Reducing weight by exercise, diet restriction. Lifestyle change etc. Otherwise it will cause other problems apart leg pain. Anyway do this simple exercise during your work. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

yes it is Ankylosing spondylitis. it is controlled with medicines, fomentation and exercises. take special care to lungs . stem cell therapy is treatment of choice.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I was a volleyball player and used to jump frequently during my practice. Now I am 47 years old and my knees pain heavily and specially so when I climb down the stairs. What should I do for this ?

Should go for xray first. Find out the cause of pain. Before that do not ascend descend stairs running jumping. If x ray shows normality Nd still you have problem then I will strongly suggest you to go for MRI as probably there will be chances of ? injured ligamentd .

Knee advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

You had cholecystectomy done. Because of that you are unable to digest fat. Fat is passed in faeces (toilet) and may have bulky foul smelling stools floating in water of pot. Along with fat fat soluble vitamins are also lost. Moreover Vitamin B-12 absorption may also be erratic. So take Vitamin B-12 (Neurokind OD) 1/2 tablet sublingual (under tongue) twice daily for about a year. Along with take Becadexamin 1 capsule daily for 1 year Do not take fats at all. Use skimmed milk. Take apple daily for iron. Do regular exercises or start playing badminton or tennis. Do dancing or swimming if you know. For allergies, take cetrizine or levocetrizine when required. You may get allergy screening tests done and if positive take specially prepared allergy desensitization vaccine. If this still feel weakness, take Flouxetine (Fludac 10 mg) once daily under medical supervision seeking advice from a qualified doctor.

Hi I can understand your problem. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold fomentation. # learn posture care exercise. # use lumber support. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back and core muscles not all back pains are same. Do share investigation reports if you have any.

Hello lybrate user, - vit-d is less available in food hence it is always supplied in medications form when ever there is deficiency. - as you are having more pain better to adopt ayurveda treatment so that you can avoid further progress of the issue - do apply ksheerabala taila with eucalyptus oil to knee daily twice and give hot fomentation for 15 min - take yogaraja guggulu 2-0-2 for 15 days. - better to take panchakarma treatment like naanu basti and basti karma which will give you better solution.
