Hello, Could you please guide me whether its better to get the wisdom tooth removed? Are there any effects if it's removed? If so kindly suggest me a doctor to whom I can get my tooth extracted as cavities are formed along with pain where I am unable to swallow my food.

Wisdom teeth usually make their appearance between the ages of 17 and 21, though it's possible for them to push through earlier or later. Referred to as your "third molars, these four teeth begin to push through the skin like any other tooth, which can cause pain. However, wisdom teeth are much more likely to grow in at an incorrect angle – even sideways – causing impaction that can radiate this pain to the teeth in front of it. Kindly get it extracted as soon as possible.

Diabetes And Oral Health Care!

If you are a diabetic patient and your blood glucose levels are poorly controlled, you are more likely to develop serious gum disease and lose more teeth than non-diabetics. Like all other infections, serious gum diseases may contribute towards rise in blood sugar and may make diabetes harder to control.
Other oral problems associated with diabetes include - candidiasis (thrush), and dry mouth which can cause soreness of mouth, oral ulcers, various infections, teeth cavities and bad breath.

Prevention
First of all, control your blood glucose level by exercise, diet, oral medicines or insulin. Then, take good care of your teeth and gums, along with regular checkups every six months. To control candidiasis, use candid mouth paint and maintain good diabetic control, avoid smoking and, if you wear dentures, remove and clean dentures daily. Good blood glucose control can also help prevent or relieve dry mouth caused by diabetes. Use chlorhexidine mouthwash for 15 days and continue with diluted listerine mouthwash for months. It will prevent bad breath problem.

Dental Abscess - Causes And Symptoms

Dental Abscess - Causes And Symptoms

Dental abscess is characterized by pus formation in the teeth or the gums. This infection may occur either in the gums or the tip of the tooth. It usually occurs due to a bacterial infection which may enter the mouth through food, thus causing accumulation of plaque. If the plaque is not removed by following proper dental hygiene, then it may result in abscess.

The various factors that increase your chances of getting affected by dental abscess are a sugar rich diet and poor oral hygiene. You should brush your teeth to prevent symptoms of dental abscess. A diet that has too much sugar may lead to cavities that increases your risk of dental abscess.

Dental abscess may be classified into three types

  1. Periodontal abscess: This type of abscess occurs in the bone structures in the teeth

  2. Gingival abscess: This type of abscess occurs in the gums

  3. Periapical abscess: Periapical abscess occurs in the soft areas of the tooth

Causes:
Entry of bacteria through holes in the teeth may result in breaking down of the soft tissue under the enamel. The infection may result in the hole to penetrate the pulp in the teeth. The bacteria thus infects the bone present in the teeth causing Periapical abscess. The bacteria that infects as a result of plaque accumulation may lead dental abscess. This may also lead to formation of gaps in the teeth leading to infection in the inner areas of the teeth.

Symptoms
The symptoms of dental abscess are:

  1. The teeth may become sensitive to hot and cold temperatures

  2. Pain during chewing food

  3. A persistent pain in the jaw that radiates to the ear

  4. You may experience a swelling in the face and the neck

  5. Tenderness in the lymph nodes in the neck

  6. You may experience symptoms of fever

  7. Presence of foul smelling fluid in your mouth
If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dentist.

Dear Lybrate user, Please visit your dentist and get a check up done. The dark spot /cavity could be present in between two teeth or there could be a gum problem present between two teeth which causes pain. Don't worry, proper check up and treatment will relieve your pain.

Quick Facts about TOOTH Sensitivity:
? Tooth sensitivity is the pain you may feel when you eat or drink hot or cold foods or drinks.
? Sensitivity happens when gums pull away from the teeth or when gum tissue is lost. This exposes the tooth root area below the gum line ,resulting in sensitivity.
? USE a toothbrush with soft bristles to avoid hurting your gums and teeth.
? You can also ask your dentist about special toothpastes for sensitive teeth.

The best time to get your tooth replaced is the time when you get it removed (within a year). Over long period of inactivity bone resorption kicks in and you might not be able to get that perfect treatment and alignment.

A complete denture can cost you from 8000 to 20000 dependong on the dentist. But I would suggest to trysave your teeth which are there by doing the proper treatment. That will help you in long run.
