Leg & Hip pain k liye ap exercise kijiye I hope you feel well. Hip Strengthening – Basic Exercises To begin with, the following basic hip strengthening exercises should be performed approximately 10 times, 3 times daily. As your hip strength improves, the exercises can be progressed by gradually increasing the repetitions and strength of contraction provided they do not cause or increase pain. Bridging Begin this exercise lying on your back in the position demonstrated (figure 1). Slowly lift your bottom pushing through your feet, until your knee, hip and shoulder are in a straight line. Tighten your bottom muscles (gluteals) as you do this. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times. Hip Extension in Lying Begin this exercise lying on your stomach in the position demonstrated (figure 2). Keeping your knee straight, slowly lift your leg tightening your bottom muscles (gluteals). Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times. Adductor Squeeze Begin this exercise lying in the position demonstrated with a rolled towel or ball between your knees (figure 3). Slowly squeeze the ball between your knees tightening your inner thigh muscles (adductors). Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times as hard as possible pain free. Figure 3 – Adductor Squeeze Hip Abduction Sidelying Begin this exercise lying on your side in the position demonstrated (figure 4). Keeping your back and knee straight and foot facing forwards, slowly take your leg to the side tightening the muscles at the side of your thigh / hip (abductors). Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times as far as possible pain free. Hip Abduction Standing Begin this exercise standing at a bench or table for balance (figure 5). Keeping your back and knee straight and foot facing forwards, slowly take your leg to the side tightening the muscles at the side of your thigh / hip (abductors). Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times as far as possible pain free. Straight Leg Raise Begin this exercise lying on your back with one leg straight and one leg bent (figure 6). Slowly lift your straight leg to approximately 45 degrees keeping your knee and toes facing the ceiling. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times provided it is pain free. Hip Flexion Begin this exercise standing at a bench or table for balance (figure 7). Slowly lift your knee up as high as you can while keeping your back straight and tightening the muscles at the front of your hip (hip flexors). Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times as far as possible pain free.

Drink plenty of water, eat cucumber and other juicy vegetables. Further take methi (fenugreek) one spoon in the empty stomach in the morning for a week. Consult me privately after 5 days.

Dear Dr, I am 44-years-old slim, 53 kgs weight and I have a question. I occasionally get either left leg or right leg pain (on the back side of leg) and starts slow and it gets worst during evening or sometimes it starts in the evening and gets worst pain during night, for which I either apply some cream or occasionally take OTC medication. Also I have severe sinus problems which comes every now and then and gives me one hell of sickness and headaches, continuously phlegm coming out of my nose yellowish and sometimes bad smell. I need suggestion / Opinion / advice / application for the above. Please let me know your further advise on the same. Thanks.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, Greetings. As I see from what you said, you have Two different Problems 1.Chronic Sinusitis 2. Low back Pain with Sciatica being aggravated by stress and strain. And can also get aggravated by sneezing and cough as a result of off and on Sinusitis. The solution is that you have to consult 1. An ENT Surgeon for sinusitis 2. You also has to consult an Orthopedic surgeon to get examination and investigation for Back pain and Sciatica, may be due to Lumbar Disc lesion. Wishing you all the Best.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. There are many causes of pain in lower back region, most commonly it can be just arising out of faulty posture with weak back muascles, it can be due to degenerative disc disease, spinal canal narrowing due to several reasons, localized inflammatory or infectious causes. So causes are many but if you tell me your history, I will be able to give you an idea of what you need to do to get cured or relieved from it. Hip Replacement - An Overview!

Damaged hips can cause great distress in carrying out daily activities, such as walking, getting dressed and many more. If you have damaged one or both of your hips, and it causes you great pain, you may require a hip replacement. It is a common form of surgery in which a damaged hip joint gets replaced with an artificial one. This is known as prosthesis.

Conditions which lead to hip replacement

  1. Osteoporosis where the cartilage inside a hip joint gets worn out, and the bones rub with each other as a result
  2. Rheumatoid arthritis, which is caused when the immune system attacks the hip joint lining by mistake
  3. If the hip joint gets damaged severely during an accident or fall

The purpose of a replaced hip joint is to provide pain relief, improve the hip’s function, improve your ability to carry out day-to-day activities and improve your overall quality of life.

Procedure
A hip replacement is usually carried out under general anesthesia. An incision is made in the hip by the surgeon and the damaged hip joint is removed through it. It is replaced with an artificial metal alloy or a ceramic joint. The surgery takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes for completion.

Recovery
After the surgery, a walking aid such as crutches is required for up to four to six weeks. You may enroll for an exercise program, which aims at regaining and improving the new hip joint functions. Regular activities can be restored within two to three months. A year is required for utilizing the new hip joint normally.

Risks of hip replacement
There may be several complications as a result of a hip replacement. They include:

  1. Dislocation of the hips
  2. Infection at the surgery wound
  3. Injury to nerves and blood vessels
  4. Difference between the lengths of two legs
  5. Fractures

Alternative
Hip replacement surgery has an alternative type of surgery, which is called hip resurfacing. During this surgery, the damaged surfaces of the bones within the hip joint are removed and replaced with a metal surface. Less bone is removed in this surgery. However, the metal surface may cause complications and health hazards.

Hip replacement is being improved upon with the advent of technology. Stronger and newer materials are being developed for prosthetics, which will allow enhanced joint mobility and a longer wear. New cement-less implants are also being developed. Also surgery assisted by computer is being used for generating an image of the hip joint. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Orthopedist.

Hello apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation .take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Avoid fermented food. Junk food.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are multiple causes of shoulder pain which can include issues in ligaments, tendons, bursa or the joint itself. I will advise you that if you have a localized pain in your shoulder without any associated swelling, redness or any other sign of infection or inflammation, then start with physical therapy and anti inflammatory medications. See if your pain starts improving in 2-3 weeks time, then its ok otherwise I advise mri of the shoulder to see whats going on because 6 months is long time for pain to continue do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Dear anis, ointments or tablets will not reduce pain permanantly. I suggesr you to go for ultrasonic therapy to reduce pain faster. And do back strengthening excercises like lying flat on back. Raising leg 10 times sliding legs in straight position. You see the difference in a week.

When I was doing warm-ups for volleyball practice, I did something to my leg. I was trying to stretch my legs as far as I could and when I shifted my weight from side to side, I got bad pains in my thighs. I either over stretched it or I stressed my thigh muscles. Whenever I try to bend I get bad pains and I can barely stand up. I've tried massaging because I've been known to get knotted muscles. But it's really painful and I've been doing it often. I also got a heat pad, iced my thighs, and now I'm wearing different braces. I don't know if it's temporally gonna be in pain or I messed up my leg. I am almost seventeen and female. I'm not super heavy, but I'm somewhat short (110 Ib, 5.3)

Requires detailed investigation and examination Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.
