Before consulting gastroenterologist you should first visit a dentist for evaluation of your oral hygiene whether bad odor from mouth is due to any tartar deposits, decayed teeth, gum disease or you simply don't brush your tongue while brushing your teeth. If you have tartar deposits those will not go away just with brush rather you will need professional cleaning of your teeth to be done in dental office. Also don't forget to brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush with gentle pressure on teeth and gums.

It pains when drinking water and sleeping
and there is a gap between teeth.
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Consume Carefully

If you have a sore or an ulcer on your gums, avoid eating anything that can irritate the tissue. Stay away from spicy and acidic foods and drinks. This includes tomato juice and even colas. They have pHs in the range of five, which is acidic. What about orange juice? Make sure you dilute it with water. This reduces the acidic concentration, so the juice won’t burn when you drink it.

Getting your teeth cleaned may give you more than a sparkling white smile -- it may give you something to smile about, like your health.

In a large study, people who had their teeth professionally scaled at least once every two years were 24% less likely to have a heart attack, compared with those who skipped the hygienist. Scaling cleans between the gums and the teeth.

And their risk of stroke dropped by 13%, says study researcher zu-yin chen, md, a cardiology fellow at the veterans general hospital in Taipei, Taiwan.

Daily Habits That Have Been Damaging Your Teeth!

Daily Habits That Have Been Damaging Your Teeth!

Using tooth picks

The worst habit you could possibly have when you have food lodgement in the mouth is using a tooth pick to get rid of it. We often try and use this as an acceptable habit even socially but few things are grosser than watching people pick out food bits after meals. If you have a cavity get it fixed. We have numerous cases where the toothpicks have either injured the gums and caused a larger infection or even worse broken in the cavity and triggered of even more pain. So stay safe from dental emergencies do not use tooth picks! while it's important to prevent food lodgement in the mouth and keep your mouth clean use things like brushes interdental brushes and floss sticks or dentists to help you do the same without harming you!

Using a hard or medium brush.

The oldest myth we have seen is brushing your teeth with a hard or medium brush. Please terminate this habit right away ensure you switch to a soft brush at the earliest.

We do not need more teeth ruined or worn off due to overzealous brushing. We see cases with the entire left side worn down and sensitive and I can tell the person is a right handed vigorous brusher. The softer the brush the better it bends and cleans between teeth as well. The gums also recede due to repeated trauma from the hard bristles so save your mouth from these constant attacks in the name of cleaning.

Scrubbing your teeth

The same principle applies when you switch from a hard to soft or extra soft brush don't apply so much pressure that the teeth and gums are still braving the injury.

You need to brush gently as though cleaning glass the force being minimum the reach and coverage being maximum!

So scrubbing is a habit we need to stop.

Not brushing at night

One of the best things we can do to avoid the dentist or any dental troubles is brushing at night. When it comes to cleaning your teeth frequency matters more than force. Ensuring you clean every 12 hours makes bacterial attacks that cause decay inactive so whenever we skip brushing at night we may not realise but it's definitely costing us.

Popping painkillers

The first sign of dental pain and we instinctively choose to ignore it hoping it will go away and if it doesn't we want to go ahead and pop a painkiller till it does. Masking the problem will actually make it bigger -while we all know this we prefer to accept the instant relief the medication provides over the tedious dental visit that may end with bad news. But imagine if we had gone at the very first sign of trouble most likely we would get away with a dental cleaning -the later we go the more often we need to go for extensive treatments.

Let's try and muster the courage to nip these problems in the bud -a habit to develop show up at the very first sign of trouble.

Do it yourself dentistry (diy) at home

We have all been our own dentists at some point!

From self medication to oral applications and home remedies when all else fails we make an appointment.

A few things are harmful and should be used with care when attempting our own dental care.

We recommend mild things like oral rinses or applications which relieve pain but do not use aspirin or any other pain killer to crush and put in the site, that can cause burns.

Also clove oil is a safe remedy but not cloves which can be sharp and hurt your cheek.

Do not try to remove shaking teeth or attempt any procedures the bleeding can be profuse and the damage severe.

In case of trauma ice to freeze the blows and water to clean the wound will work best.

In the age of technology and information let's not fall prey to easily avoidable dental habits that harm you more than they help you.

Write to us or call us at 9209200024 if you have any queries.

Oil-pulling- The Best Home Remedy For Dental Health You Might Not Even Know About

Oil-pulling- The Best Home Remedy For Dental Health You Might Not Even Know About
The ancient practice of oil-pulling is witnessing a resurgence. More and more people are touting the benefits of coconut oil-pulling for dental health. Do you know what oil pulling is?

Well, oil pulling is an ancient remedy that uses oils, such as coconut oil to clean and detoxify your mouth of germs and bacteria. It is one of the simplest technique, which you can do without a hassle.

To do oil pulling, all you have to do is take one spoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 10-20 minutes every day and swish it inside the mouth. Swishing it will help remove the germs and all those small pieces of food that gets lodged away inside the teeth. Timing is the key here. Because you have to ensure that it is long enough to break through the plaque and bacteria and absorb toxins, but not so long that it reabsorbs toxins!

Spit it out in a trash can, as coconut oil can solidify in the drains! Rinse well with warm or normal water.

Once that?s done, it is recommended that you brush your teeth thoroughly. You will notice that your teeth will become smoother and shinier. Slowly and steadily, they will become whiter as well.

And don't worry! Unlike other practices, this remedy isn't based on pseudo-science. In fact, researchers suggest that it is actually beneficial and helps in problems such as gingivitis, plaque, microorganisms and reduce problems like bad-breath or gum issues.

While it is incredibly beneficial, it is recommended that oil pulling shouldn't be used as a substitute for regular dental cleaning. So, make sure that you are always brushing your teeth on a regular basis to keep your mouth cleaner, fresher and healthier than ever!

Myths and Facts about Dental care

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Myths and Facts about Dental care
Myth 1: Scaling is not good for teeth

Fact: Scaling removes tartar and keeps teeth and gums healthy. Scaling and deep cleaning of gums prevent the problem of bad breath and bleeding gums. Thus, scaling is beneficial for teeth and gums. One should get professional cleaning done by a dentist with a proper ultrasonic scaler. Also, getting extensive scaling (more than required) done is harmful.

Myth 2: Only sugar causes cavities

Fact: Cavities occur when bacteria produce acids in the mouth. The process can begin by any carbohydrate that you consume. That includes sugar, fruits, vegetables, rice and bread. To reduce chances of tooth decay, one should not only practice good dental care but also limit the intake of acidic products.

Myth 3: Teeth whitening is harmful as it damages enamel

Fact: Technique like zoom whitening works by exfoliating stains from one's teeth to lighten them and bring back their natural colour. It is the simplest and safest procedure as a product is used by dentists that is devoid of bleaching agents and chemicals.

Myth 4: Brushing your bleeding gums is bad

Fact: Brushing is not only good on teeth, but also on your gums and tongue. Brushing these areas helps get rid of plaque which is what causes inflammation and eventually gum disease. One should not brush too hard if they have sensitive gums. One must not use a hard toothbrush on bleeding gums.

Myth 5: Using sugarless chewing gum after meal can replace brushing

Fact: Nothing can replace proper brushing technique. And in case you want to use sugarless chewing gum do not chew it for more than 10 minutes.

I have a problem with my teeth. When I drink cold water and hot tea my teeth pain what I do please sugest me.
You may have sensitive teeth causes can be: fractured teeth worn out old filling gum diseases tooth decay/ cavities hard tooth brushing loss of tooth structure/ tooth enamel exposed root a healthy tooth has an enamel layer which protects your tooth by acting as a natural crown on the tooth. Enamel is the part above the gums. The enamel structure is also the strongest in a human body. Below the gums are the roots which are covered by cementum. And the enamel and cementum have dentin underneath them dentin is not as dense than enamel and the cementum and it contains microtubules these are small hollow canals. When the tooth loses its enamel or cementum the dentin is exposed, i. E the tubules are exposed allowing heat, cold, acidic or sticky food to reach the nerves and the cells inside the tooth. Exposure of dentin may also lead to receding gums. Thus leading to hypersensitivity. These sensitive teeth need to be treated. The type of treatment is governed by the cause of sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest you one of a variety of treatments.

The vomit sensation you are talking about is known as Gag Reflex. It is a protective mechanism of the human body to avoid the entrance of any unwanted material down the throat. In your case, you are experiencing the reflex while brushing, that means your brushing pattern might be wrong. You are taking your brush to much deeper areas than required. Also, you might not be cleaning your tongue properly. Visit your dentist and ask him about some correct brushing patterns and start using a tongue cleaner. Whenever you experience gag try to focus on some other activity or object, such as your big toe. It diverts you and thus the gag stops. Avoid mouth breathing, that increases the gag. If the problem persists even after changing your brushing/cleaning pattern and avoiding mouth breathing there is more to it. Pay a visit to both your dentist and gasteroenterologist.
