I am having pain in both of my feet and heels especially if I stand. I feel stiffness in my legs and my feet and pain in joint of my palm too. I took gemcal and maxmala forte for two months. I have back pain too. I am prostatic patient too and I took many antibiotics like levofloxacin, plurofloxacin, ciprofloxacin ofloxacin doxcef ciprofloxacin in a gap of 5 months. Is it a sideeffect of these antibiotics. Please help me.

Get treated with ultrasonic therapy which would directly heal the calcaneal spur (inflammation of the calcaneum bone) which causes the heel pain in majority of the cases. Along with ultrasonic therapy, shortwave diathermy also can be given. Simultaneously it is better to wear mcr chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area. This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear mcr chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

Follow these usefultips for knee pain relief: * take calcium rich diet daily. Take a glass (300 ml) of full cream milk daily or 100 gm of cheese or 1-2 eggs regularly. * do not do heavy leg exercises like running. * wear knee cap or wrap crape bandage during walk for knee support. * sit atleast for 5-8 minutes in sunlight in morning or evening for vitamin-D. *avoid heal shoe and wear only flat shoes for balanced load on knees. * check out your blood sugar level and hemoglobin level in every 6 months.* if you have any history of rheumatoid arthritis in family then checkout your ra factor. * take guggalu tablets if himalaya one tablet daily for atleast 3 months. * take a piece of garlic, crush it and boil it a glass of milk and drink daily for fast pain relief.

I have heel pain from last 12 months. Please suggest me home remedies or medicine.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Although there can be many causes for heel pain like spurs, fascial inflammation, infection, trauma etc but normally plantar fascitis is the most common cause especially if there is no history of any injury or any s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness etc. This kind of pain is usually due to inflammation of your heel fascia. It is chronic pain which get aggravated especially when you walk more and is better with rest. Treatment modalities are aimed at relieving inflammation of the fascia, like ice packs, physical therapy, footwear modification and anti-inflammatory therapy. In a bike accident on 8/7/2016 my right lower femur fractured. There was no other injuries. I have been operated on 22/7/2016 with internal fixation plate. I was discharged on 6.8.2016 from hospital after cutting of my stich. In first review x-ray there was remarkable improvement in healing of the bone and callus were noticed. Surgeon advised my for non weight bearing for 02 more months. He also advised me for quadriceps drill and knee bending exercise. But I am facing problem in bending my knee. I feared in case of bending the bone get non union again. Is there any chance of non union during knee bending? Can physiotherapy help be taken for knee bending exercise. As I still in bed rest rest and using bed pan and urine pot for toilet. Can I use walker for going to toilet, bath and slow moving in the home at this stage? How time is require for complete healing of the bone? WHEN I COULD RETURN TO MY JOB AS MY JOB IS CLERICAL NATURE RAILWAY JOB.

As your fracture is already fixed ,you need not worry about displacement of fracture or of non union at all. After any fracture fixation ,It is advised to start active range of motion exercises as early as possible. This prevents the joints from getting stiff, increases blood supply to the fractured bone and thus helps in better healing of bone. This movement exercises do not hamper callus formation in any way but in fact they encourage callus formation and early recovery. If the fixation is good you need not worry about the bending of bone on exercising. Taking physiotherapy helps, but ask you physio to be gentle You should use walker for your daily activities without putting weight on the operated limb. You can take a physio help for that.

I recently met with an accident. I had to take a operation. I have a rod inserted in my left leg from the knee to the ankle. The operation was fine. Just that the the bone at the place were it broke is partially in contact after the surgery. Will the bone align it self or grow in the same position.

If the surgery site does not infected and healing, the bones will be set to align fast. May a period of one to one and half month will take in case of persons of age below 40 years. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretchingstretch do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation.

Goodevening lybrate-user kumar I have read your question. First of all back pain is very common nowdays. Due to sedentary life style and not doing proper exercises our back problems have increased. Very important point improper posture causes most of the back problems. I would advice you a few simple but very important exercises. > lie down on your back and then lift you hip up and hold for 10 seconds. You must bend your knees when you do that. > tilt your hip side ways right and left. > then in the lying down position you could raise one leg at a time and hold for 10 counts. >then get back to lie down on your stomach. These set of exercises are for spinal extension. You could raise one leg in the extended position and then bring it down. > then do a cat camel position so that you dip your spine downwards and upwards. >then stand against a wall and do squatting exercises that will compress your spine and then this will increase disc space. Kindly do all thses exercises morning and evening 5 times each. Apart from all this you take a hot water fermentation for your back atleast for 20 mins. Preacuations - do not suddenly bend down and lift any heavy object - you could lie down with a pillow under your knees. - do regular exercises and eat healthy diet. - make sure that your posture is straight and you do not stoop to fowrad or backward. - do not continuously sit in front of the computer for long hours. Please let me know how you are feeling after 20 days. You will see a difference.

The muscle pain which you are feeling in your chest region may actually be strain in intercostal muscles. Please give it time of 2-3 weeks, stop any sporting activity if you are involved in till your pain subsides, take a short course of anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol for 5-7 days and let me know how you are feeling in 10 days time otherwise we will get some blood investigations done for you. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture Most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Some patients need more core strengthening while others benefit mainly from stretching and improving flexibility. Please consult a Orthopedic Physiotherapist for the right exercise plan. Best wishes.

This is about my wife. She is 28 yrs old we have been married for 9 months nowadays she is complaining of lower backpain. She says if she stands she feels fine but when she sits on sofa or on flat ground she feels pain. She says that pain is more prominent in the morning and evening. Could you suggest what could be concern.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your wife is very young to actually have persistent back pains. If she has localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. My knee has undergone surgery on 16 june 16 following which Physiotherapy exercise is been followed. There is stiffness Continuously exercising leg is been bent upto 90 degrees flexion and there is problem of 10-15 degree extension. Is it that my knee is locked up or it will go by exercising?
