Physio and Yoga are mechanical approach to strengthen muscles and relieve the compression on nerves. Ayurveda gives strength to nerves, muscles and are 'Vaatnashak' i.e. corrects vitiation of Vata. Both should be used simultaneously for best results. Avoid pain killers. Proper medicine will be started after knowing Bloid test reports and radiological findings.

Your symptoms have been there since 1 week, would like to know were you suffering from any illness like fever etc before the onset of symptoms? is this the first episode of such kind of pain if your symptoms have been there since 1 week only with no other systemic symptoms, then I will ask you to take a short course of anti inflammatory medication, start calcium and vitamin d supplements as well. Also if possible, kindly get some blood tests like cbc, esr, crp, serum vitamin d, thyroid profile and serum electrolytes done and send reports across to me do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

My age is 31 and from past 3 months I have started feeling that my legs are getting week. I had a joint pain 3 months ago. Which was okay when I applied Zandu Balm on my joint. Every thing is okay but an strange symptom is that whenever I travel in a bus for 5 hours, I start getting this joint pain. And it is quite painful. What is my problem? I am 45 years old, my knee, shoulder, wrist, and l-s spine portion is aching for nearly 5 years. I have tried homeopathy, but had no such result. What should I do?

Start with physiotherapy sessions and learn exercise. Don't sit on floors. Don't lift heavy things. Use lumber spine belt also. Take calcium and methylcobalamine supplement with glucosamine for three months minimum.

Have a sever drop in vitamin levels. Have pain in joints. Can't stand for over 20 - 30 min. I am 34 years old. Used to work in night shifts. Also I am allergic to milk and curd. Need opinion on recovery.

Hi What do you mean by drop in vitamin levels, i understand night shifts can be exhausting, get you calcium, vitamin D levels done, also get CBC , ESR done so that we can see your Hb status. Tips to Improve Hip Mobility

One part of the human body is essential for the efficient functioning of another. The hip joint provides support to your overall body weight while you are at ease or in motion. Suffering from medical problems pertaining to the hip can impede free movement; walking, running, stooping, sitting or even lying down will cause immense pain and discomfort in such a situation. While certain bodily disabilities come with old age and are in most cases unavoidable; some others can actually be controlled through physical exercise.

Take a look at a few stretches to improve your hip mobility:

  1. Stretch like a pigeon: This yoga loosens up muscle tension in and around a person's hip. Your right leg must be stretched behind while the upper part of your body bends over a folded left leg in front. Your head rests on your coupled hands. This stretch improves the shape of your hip as well.  
  2. Try to be an eagle for hip firmness: To align your body in the perfect eagle pose; you probably need to be a conjurer; that is the kind of flexibility the posture requires. Be a half-chair making your hands intersect above your head while your left leg crosses the right one. The pressure is on your hip making it strong. Your body has to be in one single line. 
  3. Sit in the chair pose: Crouching on your haunches with your torso inclined to the front is a good way to better hip mobility. This exercise also relieves you of back pain. It adds potency to the muscles of your upper thighs thus giving a well- rounded hip extra support.  
  4. Stoop in the downward doggy pose: The downward doggy pose helps you concentrate on the fullness of your hips. The back muscles are stretched and the problem of a small, rickety hip is dealt with through this yoga. Your legs should be erect at the knees and should be stretched apart depending upon the width of your hip. The rest of your body should bend in a forward arch while your spread hands touch the ground.  
  5. Try out the benefits of World's Greatest Stretch: World's greatest stretch involves a series of stretches that not only accentuates your hipline making your hip muscles adaptable to stress but also tones muscles in other parts of your body. It is a three- fold exercise. The second step is the most difficult where your body is balanced on a half folded right leg and you're required to touch the ground with your right elbow.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Advice. Knee 1 avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Actually to be honest with you, there is no connection of back region with your left hand unless the posture you are adopting is bad which is leading to stresses on your spine. Kindly tell me in detail about your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset and site of pain. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. I am about 53 yrs old male in sales trade where I have to make regular journey through bus/train/bike. I drink also. Since april 2014 I have develop a back pain (lower part of the back) it started after loose motion. During morning hour when I leave bed it disturb me a lot. I use to take omeprazole medicine to avoid acidity since 2 yrs, at least 20 days a month. I want complite rest from this problem.

Stop drinking. Backache is the commonest ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Prolonged use of omeprazole causes osteoporosis. Be careful about it.
