I have lot of problems in stomach. Ie. Gas problem with pain on left side abdomen, weight keep increasing, due to gas problem stomach look like pot belly, motion is not proper, that too gas only. If I press my stomach its paining. Headache, back pain, Joint pains, neck pains etc are there. Please give valuable advice which should cure my problem since its been for years.

Hi lybrate-user Healthy choice of food, proper workout routine can lead to a better you. Starting and following the steps as planned towards the beginning can be hard, but everything gets accustomed with time. Don’t ever overdo with any exercise and do as far as the body permits. Individual predisposition, natural abilities and genes should always be taken into account while implementing an exercise program. A slim person would normally have high metabolism than a not so slim person and can achieve better results working out only 3-4 times a week, 5- 6 times for the latter. We lose water via sweating, urinating and breathing, etc. Thus we lose more water during hot weather, even if you aren’t sweating. Don’t let your body get dehydrated, supply yourself with water and required fluids whenever the body demands. Do not ever skip breakfast as not eating well at the starting of the day can result in being hungry later on. Choose your food well. Snacking by sitting in front of the TV is the easiest way to hamper your diet. Thus, watch out what you eat. Burn up a particular amount of calorie to maintain the balance of your health. Settle for several mini meals than one huge meal during the day, as you tend to over eat while you are very hungry. Protein is the ultimate fill me up food as it’s both satisfying and healthier than carbohydrates or fats. Have more vegetables and fruits. Fill your stomach with more amounts of vegetables than carbohydrates. Include more fiber in your diet which would also help you lower your cholesterol. If previously you used to have one cup of pasta, try replacing it with one cup of vegetable and lesser pasta for consumption. If you are determined to lose weight, take time lose it, drastic reduction in anything is not a healthy option. Get quality sleep. Getting enough sleep may make you feel rested and full and keep you away from unnecessary snacking. Get to know portion sizes. Try to right-size your diet by using a kitchen scale or measuring cups to measure your meals for a week or two. Use smaller plates and glasses to downsize your portion and get satisfied with whatever is available in the plate. Switch your food habits if you understand it’s not quite healthy and nutritious for your body. Opt for salads tossed with pepper and lemon to add flavors to it. Try skipping alcohols and nicotine. As alcohols contain empty calories it gets converted into direct body fat. Celebrate but not with food. If success comes your way then celebration is mandatory. Do celebrate but treat yourself with assets or shopping and not with an enormous pizza or a chocolate sundae. Fill your house with healthy snack Exercise regularly and maintain the consistency. Workout with a companion. Keep a diary of your progress and check your weight at regular intervals.

This is not meant as a substitute for seeing a Doctor which I recommend. However, if you read this and follow the recommendations at the end you may find the headache goes away before the Dr.’s appointment date. Headaches/Migraines can be caused either (1) internally (e.g. Injury to the head) or (2) externally (e.g.STRESS). What your DDS, ER and MD may not tell you are that most headaches are stress related. Even from your write up you sound stressed. They can be further broken down into the following categories and the treatment depends on the type of headache you have. MIGRAINE headaches are usually one sided, more common in females and characterized by at least one of the following; sensitivity to light, pain behind one eye, throbbing brought on by bright lights, chocolate, cheese, red wine or menstrual cycle. You can also have a visual aura around lights and things may taste odd. HYOERTENSION headaches are at the top and back of your head and throb. You usually wake up with this headache and after about 3 to 4 hours it subsides and may be caused by high blood pressure. You may need medicines to reduce your high blood pressure. CLUSTER headaches can be seen in an adolescent to adult, more common in males, one sided, usually over temple or eye area, may have a blood shot eye (s), and may wake you up at night, runny nose, sweating, tearing of the eyes, usually worse in Spring or Fall (allergy season) and lasts 15 min. To 2 hrs. MUSCULAR TENSION headaches feels: band-like distribution around head - like wearing a very tight head band and is brought on by stress, tension, fatigue and work. TEMPORAL Arthritis headaches usually in the over age 50 crowd and are characterized by one side of temple area, pain in jaw, burning, aching, throbbing, sensitive scalp, fever and tender arteries. If you experience visual symptoms go to ER. CERVICOGENIC (neck caused) headaches - Pain in upper neck and back of head or pain when moving the head with reduced movement in neck area is brought on by stress, head movement and head alignment. It may be confused as it can mimic a migraine headache including nausea. If it is a head and neck related alignment you can have temporal headaches or headaches that arc from behind the ear forward. They are characterized by possible sharp pain behind your ear at the base of the skull along with correlated shoulder pain which can last for days and weeks at a time until misalignment is corrected. Medications provide only short term relief when taken. SINUS headaches are localized in nature; certain positions are worse like the nose area, steady throb, and worse in the morning and may be seasonal. SUBARACHNOID Hemorrhage headaches are abrupt onset, constant stiff neck, feels like someone hit you in the head, Caused by high blood pressure, stress or aneurysm can be life threatening. BRAIN Tumor headaches are characterized by; onset in morning and evening, varies from mild to severe, may throb, wakes you up at night, symptoms getting worse, neck stiffness worse than ever. SUBDURAL Hematoma headaches are caused by trauma. It is a slow bleed in the brain. People can and do die from this. Here is what you do for them besides making a Doctor’s appt. Migraines, muscular tension, cervicogenic, and some sinus and cluster headaches may be helped by a chiropractor. If it is sinus, you need to ask the chiropractor if they have a sinus/cranial treatment. For Hypertension, cluster, temporal arteritis and brain tumor-see a Dr. For Temporal arteritis with visual impairment, subarachnoid hemorrhage and subdural hematoma, go to the ER now. In addition to SEEING a Doctor you may consider counseling. While you are waiting for the Dr.’s and or counselor’s appt. You might try the following and end up cancelling the appts. As it may work! There are three home remedies that may work for you as they do/did for me: First drink 16 to 24 ounces of water not soda as dehydration may cause headaches. The second home remedy for all headaches that has worked for me and even my most skeptical friends is eating a banana! My MOST skeptical of friends was SO DESPERATE he eventually tried it and claims that it cures 40% of his headaches/migraines. Bananas are loaded with Potassium which helps alleviate all headaches. In addition it is very filling and an empty stomach can also aggravate a headache. Third after drinking water, eating a banana and taking your chosen OTC meds take a SHOWER. Other than that OTC meds are your only alternative. Then go take a nap. De-stress by; turning off the phone, turning off the TV, turning off the computer, and don’t watch the news! Time to do everything to DE-STRESS! Hope this helps!

You are probably not getting adequate, restful sleep at night. This causes drowsiness in day time, decreased concentration and attention, and irritability. This will affect your work and studies and general well being in the long run. Try to get proper sleep at night. Avoid coffee or tea for up to 5 hours before sleep. Maintain same time for waking and sleeping. Avoid watching TV before sleeping. You can consult me for further management if required.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day.
